In a question generating device, a reader reads a document and generates a document image. An extracting section extracts an original form character part on the basis of a marked character part included in the document image. The original form character part represents an original form of a plurality of candidate character parts that are candidate answers to a question generated from the document image. A setting section sets as the plurality of candidate character parts, the original form character part and at least one character part formed by either or both adding a character to and deleting a character from the original form character part. A selecting section selects a candidate character part of the highest priority from among the plurality of candidate character parts. A generating section generates the question using the candidate character part of the highest priority as the answer.

An electronic device is described which comprises a memory storing a font comprising a mapping from character codes to glyphs. The memory also stores character information comprising at least information about one or more unsupported character codes. A processor of the device processes text content comprising character codes using the font to create text output by converting the character codes into glyphs for display at a display associated with the electronic device. The processor is configured to capture the text output and detect whether the text output comprises at least one unsupported character code; and, in the case that at least one unsupported character code is detected, to output to a user of the device information about the unsupported character code obtained from the character information.

A method for real- time video processing to find and display independent content, such as related social media content, related videos, and related images for an object or services, to facilitate purchasing decisions for an object or services. The system and method allows a user to utilize a camera of a computing device to scan an object or text associated with a product or service, in real time, to find related social content, related videos, and related images pertaining to the object and presents the independent content on a user interface for review by the user.

A method of managing notes for project planning such as the Scrum methodology. The method obtains a digital image of a board having physical notes with task information and point values. The notes in the digital image are separated, and handwriting in the notes is converted to corresponding character strings for the task information and point values. A color is detected for each of the notes in order to create color-coded groups of the notes. The method outputs the color-coded groups with the corresponding character strings, which can be used to generate charts relating to the Scrum board.

In one embodiment, a method includes receiving a plurality of search queries comprising n-grams; identifying a subset of the plurality of search queries as being queries for visual-media items based on one or more n-grams of the search query being associated with visual-media content; calculating, for each of the n-grams of the search queries of the subset, a popularity-score based on a count of the search queries in the subset that include the n-gram; determining popular n-grams, wherein each of the popular n-grams is an n-gram of the search queries of the subset of search queries having a popularity-score greater than a threshold popularity-score; and selecting one or more of the popular n-grams for training a visual-concept recognition system, wherein each of the popular n-grams is selected based on whether it is associated with a visual concept.

Systems and methods are described for identifying at least one sports team depicted in media content, such as image or video data. Features of the media content may be provided as input to a first set of classification models that are each trained to identify at least one type of scene associated with one or more sports, then features of the media content may be provided to a second set of classification models trained to identify at least one object associated with one or more sports. Once a sport depicted in the media content is determined based on the first and second set of classification models, the system may determine a team depicted in the media content based at least in part by comparing aspects of the media content to stored data associated with various teams that play the identified sport.

Systems and methods are described for using video fingerprinting to detect depiction of one or more objects of interest in video data. An object of interest may first be identified in one or more frames of video data. A system may then create a digital video fingerprint representing the one or more frames in which the object is depicted. A potentially large amount of subsequent video data may then be received or retrieved, and the system may determine that the object appears in a portion of the subsequent video data based at least in part by identifying that the digital video fingerprint at least substantially matches a portion of the subsequent video data.
