MAGNETIC INK READING DEVICE AND PRINTER
A magnetic ink reading device includes a housing having a slot through which a medium is inserted, a roller driven by a motor by which the medium is conveyed along a conveyance path, one or more sensors arranged along the conveyance path and configured to detect the medium at one or more respective positions, a magnetic head configured to read a magnetic pattern formed on the medium with magnetic ink, and a controller. The controller is configured to control the motor to convey the medium inserted through the slot, measure a length in a conveyance direction of the medium using outputs from the sensors, and control the magnetic head to read the magnetic pattern from the medium while controlling the motor to continuously convey the medium for a period corresponding to the measured length.
OBJECT DETECTION AND IMAGE CROPPING USING A MULTI-DETECTOR APPROACH
Systems, methods and computer program products for detecting objects using a multi-detector are disclosed, according to various embodiments. In one aspect, a computer-implemented method includes defining an analysis profile comprising an initial number of analysis cycles dedicated to each of a plurality of detectors, where each detector is independently configured to detect objects according to a unique set of analysis parameters and/or a unique detector algorithm. The method also includes: receiving digital video data that depicts at least one object; analyzing the digital video data using some or all of the detectors in accordance with the analysis profile, where the analyzing produces an analysis result for each detector used in the analysis. Further, the method includes updating the analysis profile by adjusting the number of analysis cycles dedicated to at least one of the detectors based on the analysis results.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR IDENTIFYING AND AUTHENTICATING ARTISTIC WORKS
Disclosed are systems, devices and methods for quantifying unique features of an object such as an artistic work to identify and authenticate the object and specific characteristics thereof using multi-spectral diagnostic characterization techniques and analytical algorithms. In some aspects, a method for creating an identification for an object includes acquiring image data of an object in two or more electromagnetic spectrums along a coordinated array of sample regions of the object; analyzing the acquired image data to produce a quantitative data set including specific characteristics of the object associated with the two or more electromagnetic spectrums for each sample region; generating a digital identification associated with a unique data fingerprint, based on the specific characteristics, in which the digital identification solely corresponds to the object; and storing the generated digital identification.
Automated check encoding error resolution
Aspects of the disclosure relate to enhanced check processing systems with improved check validation features and enhanced information security. A computing platform may determine whether a correlation between source data and metadata associated with a check exceeds a predetermined correlation threshold. Based on determining that the correlation does not exceed the predetermined correlation threshold, the computing platform may direct an OCR computing system to perform character recognition on the check. Then, the computing platform may determine whether a discrepancy between the metadata and an OCR output from the OCR computing system exceeds a predetermined resolution threshold. In response to determining that the discrepancy between the OCR output and the metadata does not exceed the predetermined resolution threshold, the computing platform may update stored records associated with the check. Subsequently, the computing platform may direct a DDA computing system to post a corrected payment associated with the check.
Systems and methods for remote deposit of checks
Remote deposit of checks can be facilitated by a financial institution. A customer's general purpose computer and image capture device may be leveraged to capture an image of a check and deliver the image to financial institution electronics. Additional data for the transaction may be collected as necessary. The transaction can be automatically accomplished utilizing the images and data thus acquired.
Article including identification information for use in an electrically heated smoking system
A smoking article includes identification information encoded on the smoking article. The smoking article can be used with an electrically heated smoking system having a detector for detecting the smoking article and distinguishing the smoking article from other articles based on the identification information. A cleaning article includes identification information encoded on the cleaning article. The cleaning article cleans an electrically heated smoking system having a detector for detecting the cleaning article and distinguishing the cleaning article from other articles based on the identification information. An electrically heated smoking system for receiving an article configured for use with the smoking system includes: a cavity for receiving the article having identification information encoded thereon, a heating element, a power supply, electrical hardware, and a detector capable of detecting the presence of the article in the cavity and distinguishing the article from other articles based on the identification information.
Systems and methods for processing an image of a check during mobile deposit
An image of a check that is in the field of view of a camera is monitored prior to the image of the check being captured. The camera is associated with a mobile device. When the image of the check in the field of view passes monitoring criteria, an image may be taken by the camera and provided from the mobile device to a financial institution. The image capture may be performed automatically as soon as the image of the check is determined to pass the monitoring criteria. The check may be deposited in a user's bank account based on the image. Any technique for sending the image to the financial institution may be used. Feedback may be provided to the user of the camera regarding the image of the check in the field of view.
OBJECT DETECTION AND IMAGE CROPPING USING A MULTI-DETECTOR APPROACH
Systems, methods and computer program products for detecting objects using a multi-detector are disclosed, according to various embodiments. In one aspect, a computer-implemented method includes defining analysis profiles, where each analysis profile: corresponds to one of a plurality of detectors, and comprises: a unique set of analysis parameters and/or a unique detection algorithm. The method further includes analyzing image data in accordance with the analysis profiles; selecting an optimum analysis result based on confidence scores associated with different analysis results; and detecting objects within the optimum analysis result. According to additional aspects, the analysis parameters may define different subregions of a digital image to be analyzed; a composite analysis result may be generated based on analysis of the different subregions by different detectors; and the optimum analysis result may be based on the composite analysis result.
SECURING PRINTED FEATURES USING VOLATILE DETERMINANTS
Securing printing systems and methods include a printer with a controller coupled to a memory and configured to perform a printer operation. The printer controller receives an instruction comprising a first font element and a second font element. An identifier corresponding to the second font element is retrieved from a memory. The printer generates and prints a graphical character that based on the first font element and an augmented symbol corresponding to the identifier.
Methods and devices for cartridge authentication
A device comprises a sensor and processing circuitry coupled to the sensor. The sensor is configured to obtain authentication information from an identification label of a cartridge of an electronic vaping device. The processing circuitry is configured to perform authentication of the cartridge based on the authentication information; and determine whether to unlock a battery section of the electronic vaping device to power the cartridge based on a result of the authentication of the cartridge.
