Systems and methods for processing an image of a check during mobile deposit
An image of a check that is in the field of view of a camera is monitored prior to the image of the check being captured. The camera is associated with a mobile device. When the image of the check in the field of view passes monitoring criteria, an image may be taken by the camera and provided from the mobile device to a financial institution. The image capture may be performed automatically as soon as the image of the check is determined to pass the monitoring criteria. The check may be deposited in a user's bank account based on the image. Any technique for sending the image to the financial institution may be used. Feedback may be provided to the user of the camera regarding the image of the check in the field of view.
Character count determination for a digital image
An image processing system or electronic device may implement processing circuitry. The processing circuitry may receive an image, such as financial document image. The processing circuitry may determine a character count for the financial document image or particular portions of the financial document image without recognizing any particular character in the financial document image. In that regard, the processing circuitry may determine a top left score for pixels in the financial document, the top left score indicating or representing a likelihood that a particular pixel corresponds to a top left corner of a text character. The processing circuitry may also determine top right score for image pixels. Then, the processing circuitry may identify one or more text chunks using the top left and top rights scores for pixels in the financial document image. The processing circuitry may determine a character count for the identified text chunks.
Payment instrument validation and processing
Embodiments of the present invention provide apparatuses and methods that help validate and process payment instruments for different products, such as but not limited to credit card payments, mortgage payments, or any other type of payment. The payment amount from a payment instrument may be determined from a multiple locations on the payment instrument. In addition, a payment amount may be determined from a remittance document that accompanies the payment instrument, such as a remittance coupon that is mailed along with a check. The amount in the remittance courtesy box, the minimum amount due, the last payment made, and the full balance remaining may all be captured and used to validate the amount on the payment instrument. Moreover, one or more confidence scores for the amounts on the payment instrument and remittance document may be used to validate the payment amount.
SECURING PRINTED FEATURES USING VOLATILE DETERMINANTS
Securing printing systems and methods include a printer with a controller coupled to a memory and configured to perform a printer operation. The printer controller receives an instruction comprising a first font element and a second font element. An identifier corresponding to the second font element is retrieved from a memory. The printer generates and prints a graphical character that based on the first font element and an augmented symbol corresponding to the identifier.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR ENROLLMENT AND IDENTITY MANAGEMENT USING MOBILE IMAGING
Systems and methods for automatic enrollment and identity verification based upon processing a captured image of a document are disclosed herein. Various embodiments enable, for example, a user to enroll in a particular service by taking a photograph of a particular document (e.g., his driver license) with a mobile device. One or more algorithms can then extract relevant data from the captured image. The extracted data (e.g., the person's name, gender, date of birth, height, weight, etc.) can then be used to automatically populate various fields of an enrollment application, thereby reducing the amount of information that the user has to manually input into his mobile device in order to complete the enrollment process. In some embodiments, a set of internal and/or external checks can be run against the data to ensure that the data is valid, has been read correctly, and is consistent with other data.
Systems and methods for classifying payment documents during mobile image processing
Systems and methods are provided for processing an image of a financial payment document captured using a mobile device and classifying the type of payment document in order to extract the content therein. These methods may be implemented on a mobile device or a central server, and can be used to identify content on the payment document and determine whether the payment document is ready to be processed by a business or financial institution. The system can identify the type of payment document by identifying features on the payment document and performing a series of steps to determine probabilities that the payment document belongs to a specific document type. The identification steps are arranged starting with the fastest step in order to attempt to quickly determine the payment document type without requiring lengthy, extensive analysis.
Methods and devices for cartridge authentication
A device comprises a sensor and processing circuitry coupled to the sensor. The sensor is configured to obtain authentication information from an identification label of a cartridge of an electronic vaping device. The processing circuitry is configured to perform authentication of the cartridge based on the authentication information; and determine whether to unlock a battery section of the electronic vaping device to power the cartridge based on a result of the authentication of the cartridge.
Media depository
A media depository is described. The media depository comprises: a media item validation module; a diverter for routing a received media item via either a storage path or a return path; an escrow for temporarily holding received media items; and a printer located between the diverter and the escrow so that the printer can print on any media items transported via the return path.
Magnetic ink character recognition apparatus and method by the same
In accordance with an embodiment, a magnetic ink character recognition apparatus comprises a magnetic head; a conveyance module configured to relatively convey a medium on which a magnetic ink character is printed with respect to the magnetic head; an acquisition module configured to acquire a magnetic detection signal of the medium read by the magnetic head; an excluding module configured to exclude a predetermined exclusion section including a reading result of an end portion of the medium from a signal section of the magnetic detection signal; and a recognition module configured to recognize the magnetic ink character based on the magnetic detection signal of the remaining signal section except for the exclusion section.
Systems and methods for identifying and authenticating artistic works
Disclosed are systems, devices and methods for quantifying unique features of an object such as an artistic work to identify and authenticate the object and specific characteristics thereof using multi-spectral diagnostic characterization techniques and analytical algorithms. In some aspects, a method for creating an identification for an object includes acquiring image data of an object in two or more electromagnetic spectrums along a coordinated array of sample regions of the object; analyzing the acquired image data to produce a quantitative data set including specific characteristics of the object associated with the two or more electromagnetic spectrums for each sample region; generating a digital identification associated with a unique data fingerprint, based on the specific characteristics, in which the digital identification solely corresponds to the object; and storing the generated digital identification.
