Restoring the appearance of scans of damaged physical documents
Systems and methods for restoring the appearances of scans of damaged physical documents. Ink bleed is removed and/or ink added to portions of a scanned image based on determining an ink bleed model by analyzing colors of pixels in the scanned image. Gaps in strokes are reconstructed based on analyzing pixel color at multiple angles around individual pixels in the scanned image to determine whether the individual pixels are part of a stroke. The appearance of the scanned image is also enhanced by comparing pixels that are not already close to a background color or ink color with other nearby pixels and, based on the nearby pixels, adjusting colors of the pixels that are not already close to the background color or ink color. These techniques are used individually or in combination to improve the appearance of the scanned image.
ANALOG STROKES TO DIGITAL INK STROKES
Analog written content of handwritten drawings or written characters can be transformed into digital ink via an analog-to-ink service. The analog-to-ink service can receive a static image of the analog written content, extract analog strokes from other information, such as background, in the static image, and then convert the analog strokes to digital ink strokes, for example, by populating an ink container with at least two parameters for defining the digital ink strokes. The at least two parameters can include a pressure, at tilt, a direction, a beginning point, an end point, a direction, a color, an order, an overlap, a language, and a time. The analog-to-ink service can provide the ink container to a content creation application that supports inking so that a user can manipulate the content in an inking environment.
ELECTRONIC DEVICE FOR PROCESSING HANDWRITING INPUT, AND OPERATION METHOD THEREFOR
An electronic device is provided. The electronic device includes a display and at least one processor, wherein the at least one processor can be configured to identify a first tilt between a first handwriting input displayed on the display and a first preceding handwriting input that precedes the first handwriting input, the first handwriting input corresponding to a first block, identify a second tilt between a second handwriting input displayed on the display and a second preceding handwriting input that precedes the second handwriting input, the second handwriting input being continuous to the first handwriting input, use the first tilt and the second tilt to determine whether the second handwriting input corresponds to the first block or corresponds to a second block differing from the first block, and perform, based on the second handwriting input corresponding to the second block, at least one operation for processing a plurality of handwriting inputs indicating the second block.
Dynamic handwriting verification, handwriting-based user authentication, handwriting data generation, and handwriting data preservation
Handwriting verification methods and related computer systems, and handwriting-based user authentication methods and related computer systems are disclosed. A handwriting verification method comprises obtaining a handwriting test sample containing a plurality of available parameters, extracting geometric parameters, deriving geometric features comprising an x-position value and a y-position value for each of a plurality of feature points in the test sample, performing feature matching between geometric features of the test sample and a reference sample, determining a handwriting verification result based at least in part on the feature matching, and outputting the handwriting verification result. Techniques and tools for generating and preserving electronic handwriting data also are disclosed. Raw handwriting data is converted to a streamed format that preserves the original content of the raw handwriting data. Techniques and tools for inserting electronic handwriting data into a digital image also are disclosed.
System and method for superimposed handwriting recognition technology
A system and method that is able to recognize a user's natural superimposed handwriting without any explicit separation between characters. The system and method is able to process single-stroke and multi-stroke characters. It can also process cursive handwriting. Further, the method and system can determine the boundaries of input words either by the use of a specific user input gesture or by detecting the word boundaries based on language characteristics and properties. The system and method analyzes the handwriting input through the processes of fragmentation, segmentation, character recognition, and language modeling. At least some of these processes occur concurrently through the use of dynamic programming.
System and method of digital note taking
A system, method and computer program product for use in digital note taking with handwriting input to a computing device are provided. The computing device is connected to an input device in the form of an input surface. A user is able to provide input by applying pressure to or gesturing above the input surface using either his or her finger or an instrument such as a stylus or pen. The present system and method monitors the input strokes. The computing device further has a processor and at least one application for recognizing the handwriting input under control of the processor. The at least one system application is configured to cause display of, on a display interface of a computing device, digital ink in a block layout in accordance with a layout of blocks of the handwriting input and a configuration of the computing device display interface.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR MANAGING DIGITAL INK TYPESETTING
A system, method and computer program product for managing typesetting of digital ink structured content on computing devices. Each computing device has a processor and at least one system application for recognizing handwriting input under control of the processor. The system application determines dimensional information of at least digital ink text elements of structured content, calculates a first font size for each typeset ink text element respectively corresponding to the digital ink text elements based on at least part of the dimensional information, categorizes the typeset ink text elements into one or more categories of the structured content, determines a second font size for each typeset ink text element based on the first font size of each typeset ink text element of the respective category, and display, on a display associated with the computing device, the typeset ink text elements at the respective determined second font sizes.
Information processing system for displaying handwriting action trajectory based on meta information
There is provided an information processing system including a first control unit configured to associate handwriting action trajectory information indicating a user's handwriting action trajectory with meta information capable of being detected from an actual environment where the user's handwriting action is performed.
METHOD OF RECOGNIZING CHARACTERS, CHARACTER RECOGNITION APPARATUS
A method of recognizing characters is disclosed, which includes displaying, on a screen on which a handwriting input can be accepted, an image that suggests a first input area and a second input area, the first input area and the second input area being partly overlapped; and recognizing a handwritten input in the first input area and a handwritten input in the second input area as different characters.
