Support frame

A support structure device is configured to assist a human patient to rise. The support structure includes a tube bent into a shape described by way of a reference frustum such as a four-sided truncated pyramid. Each side of a top rectangular perimeter of the frustum is shorter than a corresponding side of the bottom rectangular perimeter, and each parallel side of a first trapezoidal perimeter of the frustum is shorter than a corresponding parallel side of a second trapezoidal perimeter. The reference frustum has a height between 10 and 18 inches, the top rectangular perimeter has a length between 10 and 16 inches and a width between 6 and 14 inches, and the bottom rectangular perimeter has a length between 12 and 18 inches and a width between 8 and 16 inches.

A vertical carriage assembly comprises a seating assembly and a movable subassembly mounted on the vertical central beam and an actuator mechanism is used to elevate the vertical carriage assembly via a plurality of T-slots to slide along the vertical central beam. The design of the horizontal seating plate is smaller in size to allow the apparatus to be used in confined spaces.

EMS backboard

A backboard includes a body that has length that is sufficient for extending under a person. The body further has an upper side for supporting a person thereon and a lower side for resting on a generally flat surface, with the body forming multiple pivot points between the upper side and the lower side. The body supports a movable contact surface to provide lateral support to and increase the contact area between the backboard and the person supported thereon.

The cradle is positioned about a patient in an un-inflated condition and inflated to define a self-supporting seat structure. The cradle may be formed in at least two separable parts which can be positioned about a patient and connected together prior to inflation. The cradle may be used in co-operation with apparatus which include rollers over which the inflated cradle is moved. Methods of handling a patient using the cradle are also disclosed.

In various embodiments, the lift apparatus includes a substantially vertical guide rail; a carriage positioned to be moved up and down along the guide rail; a drive mechanism coupled to the carriage and configured to move the carriage at a controlled rate along the guide rail; and a tiltable seat coupled mechanically to the carriage in a manner that allows the seat to tilt about a substantially transverse tilt axis that is substantially parallel to the floor and runs substantially across the seat at a depth that enables a human subject to be seated on the tiltable seat with the center of gravity of the human subject being between the tilt axis and a back end of the seat. The tiltable seat is tiltably mounted in a manner and location that allows the tiltable seat to tilt down, with a front edge of the seat lower than the back edge of the seat, as the center of gravity of the human subject is shifted to a position forward of the tilt axis.

The devices comprise a class 1 lever including two larger wheels disposed about parallel at a fulcrum of the lever with each of the two larger wheels having shorter load leverage arms and longer effort leverage arms extending radially outward and defining a lever angle of greater than 90?. Each of the larger wheels disposed at the fulcrum includes a smaller rolling wheel attached to each larger wheel by an axle and a medium rolling wheel attached to each larger wheel by a different axle. When an operator pulls down the longer effort leverage arms the patient is safely lifted.
