The present disclosure relates to a system for positioning a patient on a medical device. More specifically, the present disclosure relates to a system for aligning a patient's head, spine, and shoulders for providing radiation treatment to a head and neck area of the patient.

Inflatable stretcher
10285888 · 2019-05-14 · ·

An inflatable stretcher includes an upper and a lower cover member connected along their outer peripheral edges to define an internal air space. The lower cover member has a plurality of perforations forming an overall pattern contoured to the shape of a human body. First and second partitioning member are disposed in the air space and connected to the upper and lower cover members to divide the air space into a plurality of widthwise-extended air release passages and two lengthwise-extended air flow passages located at two lateral sides of the air release passages. A flow opening is formed between each second partitioning member and each corresponding first partitioning member. The flow openings respectively have a cross-sectional area smaller than that of each air release passage, enabling air supplied from an inflation device into the air space to produce an increased air lifting force at positions corresponding to a patient's hips.

AUTOMATIC PATIENT TURNING AND LIFTING METHOD, SYSTEM, AND APPARATUS

Automatic patient turning and lifting method, system, and apparatus. An exemplary turning and lifting mattress device discloses herein includes a plurality of left and right inflatable turning bladders, a mattress support structure positioned on the bladders and itself including an outer mattress casing including an inner chamber filled with a plurality of particles, at least one contact surface configured to be in contact with a patient during use, wherein the outer mattress casing is configured to be inflated and evacuated such that the outer mattress casing is capable of being shapeable when inflated, and forms a resilient structure configured to hold its shape when evacuated, and wherein, during use, the at least one contact surface conforms to the shape of a body, the plurality of particles displaced from around the body leaving a depression on the at least one contact surface in the shape of the body.

PATIENT TRANSFER SYSTEM
20190125603 · 2019-05-02 ·

The embodiments herein provide a patient transfer system for transferring a patient form one surface to another with a single attendant/caretaker. The system comprises a main base with wheels, a column actuator for height adjustment and a patient resting surface. The patient resting surface comprises two surfaces made of a mattress and a sheet. During transfer of patient from one surface to another, the system is attached/locked to a firm surface like floor, wall or ceiling using mechanical attachment devices for providing stability. The sheet when pulled lengthwise is transformed into an almost hard surface. A frame with sheet carrying patient is moved horizontally or vertically for transferring the patient. The sheet is made out of radiolucent material to avoid any effects due to radiations during X-ray, CT scans, MRI etc. The system is also convertible into a wheelchair using actuators when needed.

Feedback control for a person support apparatus with a mattress replacement system and methods for automatically pausing a turn and hold operation

A method for triggering a pause event in a turn and hold operation applied to a mattress replacement system of a person support apparatus may include inflating at least one air bladder in only one of a right side portion and a left side portion of the mattress replacement system; detecting, automatically with at least one sensor, a force applied to at least one of a frame of the personal support apparatus and the at least one air bladder as the at least one air bladder is inflated; determining, automatically with a microcontroller communicatively coupled to the at least one sensor, if the force applied has a force duration that is greater than a threshold force duration to trigger the pause event; and discontinuing inflation of the at least one air bladder when the pause event is triggered.

THERAPEUTIC CUSHION SYSTEMS AND METHODS
20190099309 · 2019-04-04 · ·

Apparatus and methods for providing therapeutic treatment for symptoms associated with GERD and/or other digestive disorders and/or other medical conditions are described herein. In some embodiments, an apparatus includes a support element that has a first end portion and a second end portion and a top surface disposed at an angle relative to a bottom surface of the support element. The second end portion has a height greater than the first end portion. A riser element is configured to be coupled proximate to the second end portion of the support element. A body element is configured to be disposed on at least one of the support element or the riser element. The body element has a first arm and a second arm connected together by an arc portion.

AIR-BEARING PATIENT TRANSFER SYSTEM
20190091085 · 2019-03-28 ·

A transfer system includes an air-bearing support with first and second longitudinal sections. A port is provided in flow communication with the first and second longitudinal sections, and configured for inflation of the air-bearing support for transfer of a patient or other body. A selective coupling extends between the first and second longitudinal sections, adapted to attach the first and second sections together for transfer of the body on the air-bearing support, and to at least partially detach the first and second longitudinal sections for separation and removal, e.g., upon deflation of the patient support, after the transfer is accomplished.

Mattress bladder boosting during chair egress

A patient support apparatus includes a mattress having a seat and a leg portion which are deflatable during movement of the patient support apparatus. The mattress includes a covering that is generally air impermeable so that a negative pressure can be developed inside of the covering.

System and method for treating and preventing pressure sores in bedridden patients
10238561 · 2019-03-26 ·

A system for preventing and treating pressure sores of a bed-ridden patient including an array of expandable and collapsible supports to support and provide pressure relief to a patient in pressure locations where the expandable and collapsible supports support the patient; pressure sensors associated with the expandable and collapsible supports to monitor pressure locations where the expandable and collapsible supports support the patient; and a patient lift movable between the expandable and collapsible supports to raise and lower the patient between at least a position where the patient is primarily supported by the array of expandable and collapsible supports and a position above the expandable and collapsible supports where the patient is primarily supported by the patient lift.
