Half-hemisphere antennas for locating remote devices

A method and apparatus includes a processor that receives information corresponding to a first signal strength of a communication link between a remote device and a communication gateway of a vehicle. The information corresponding to the first signal strength is associated with a first antenna of a sensor and the first antenna includes a first peak main lobe magnitude oriented in a first direction. The processor also receives information corresponding to a second signal strength of the communication link. The information corresponding to the second signal strength is associated with a second antenna. The second antenna includes a second peak main lobe magnitude oriented in a second direction. The processor executes a first boundary line determination that includes determining whether the remote device is located on a first side of a boundary line based on the first signal strength and the second signal strength.

Mobile device tethering for vehicle systems based on variable time-of-flight and dead reckoning

Method and apparatus are disclosed for mobile device tethering for vehicle systems based on variable time-of-flight and dead reckoning. An example vehicle includes a communication module to communicate with a mobile device using multiple frequency bands and a body control module. The body control module at an interval, estimates a location of the mobile device relative to the vehicle based on time-of-flight measurements using one of the multiple frequency bands selected based on a previous location estimate. Between the intervals, the body control module tracks the location of the mobile device using dead reckoning. Additionally, the body control system controls a subsystem of the vehicle based on the location of the mobile device.

WIRELESS TAG-BASED LOCK ACTUATION SYSTEMS AND METHODS
20210074105 · 2021-03-11 ·

Described herein is a wireless electronic lockset comprising a processing unit, a locking bolt, a motor, a wireless communication tag, and a wireless interface. The lockset is capable of connecting to a mobile device via a first communication protocol and/or a second communication protocol. The lockset sends a value to the mobile device via the first communication protocol and receives an actuation command via the second communication protocol if the mobile device has been verified by a server. The actuation command causes the lockset to lock or unlock the door.

Mobile device relay attack detection and power management for vehicles

Method and apparatus are disclosed for mobile device relay attack detection and power management for vehicles. An example vehicle includes a first module for first protocol communication, a second module for second protocol communication, and a controller. The controller is to determine a first distance to a mobile device utilizing a signal strength of the first protocol communication and determine, upon receiving an entry request, a second distance to the mobile device utilizing a time-of-flight of the second protocol communication. The controller also is to prevent entry when the second distance does not match the first distance.

Access control method for persons and system for carrying out the method

An access control method for people in which the access control device (16) is assigned to an access point. Each access control device (16) has at least one antenna (1, 2, 8, 9, 10, 11), which emits beacons. Each access area (3) can only accommodate one person at a time. All antennas lie on an antenna plane. The transmitted beacons containing a unique access point ID, which positively identifies the access point and a unique antenna ID within predefined intervals. The received beacons are analyzed based on the RSSIs (Received Signal Strength Indicator) such that the distance of the mobile device (14) to the at least one antenna (1, 2, 8, 9, 10, 11) is determined. The received access point ID are transmitted to a server (15) or to the access control device (16) for analysis. Access is granted if the access authorization is valid for the access point ID.

Method for activating at least one security function of a security system of a vehicle

The invention relates to a method (100) for an activation of at least one security function of a security system (200) of a vehicle (1), wherein an authentication at the security system (200) of the vehicle (1) is effected by means of a mobile identification transmitter (300).
