Z-SHAPE SLIDING BOARD UTILIZING GRAVITY-ASSISTANCE FOR PATIENT LATERAL TRANSFER
The present invention provides an apparatus and method for lateral transfer of patient between two platforms. In particular the invention provides an apparatus for lateral transfer of patient that facilitates gravity assisted transfer of patient with low effort and high protection from injury. The invention comprise a curved board for gravity assisted lateral transfer of patient comprising a top surface and a bottom surface having rectangular holes punched at the ends of the curved board. The curved board comprise of an elevated portion, a middle slanted portion, and a lower portion wherein the elevated portion is substantially raised relatively to the lower portion. In an embodiment of the present invention, the elevated portion of the curved board can be configured to shove beneath the bed sheet and the lower portion of the curved board can rest on flat surface of the adjacent low levelled second flat surface thus facilitating gravity assisted lateral transfer of patient which is performed by nurses by gently sliding the patient from the elevated surface to the lower surface via the slanted surface on the z-shaped curved board.
Mobility enhancement device for attachment to foot or footwear
A mobility enhancement device has an elongate strap of flexible material and a slide member having an inner face secured to a first surface of the strap and an outer smooth surface configured for sliding engagement with a floor surface. The strap is secured in a loop about a user's foot or footwear with releasable fastener devices associated with opposite end portions of the strap secured together and the slide member positioned to face downward from a ventral region of the sole of the foot or footwear so that the outer smooth surface is positioned for sliding engagement with a floor surface during ambulation or transfer.
Patient Turner-Puller & Attachments
The system uses a motor, and a rolling tube or rod of sufficient strength to apply a pull force on one side of a sheet on the bed with the patient lying on the sheet to help pull up the patient on his bed or turn patients on his side with little manual effort. The sheet used has an underside which is slidable to reduce the friction and having a plurality of loops on the sides to connect to the pull straps. The loops to which the pull straps are connected are chosen to apply equal force to pull or turn the patient on the sheet. Patients having mobility issues have to be routinely pulled up or turned on their sides to make them comfortable and avoid formation of bed sores. These operations have caused back problems for many caregivers. The system disclosed provides mechanized help for these operations.
Patient repositioning sheet, system, and method
In one aspect, the present disclosure provides a patient repositioning sheet including an inflatable sheet having a lower layer and an upper layer that are urged apart with inflation of the inflatable sheet. The patient repositioning sheet further includes at least one inflatable support, such as an inflatable wedge. The inflatable wedge has a wedge surface that extends obliquely to the upper layer of the inflatable sheet with the inflatable wedge inflated.
APPARATUS AND SYSTEM FOR LIFTING, MOVING, TURNING, AND POSITIONING A PATIENT
A patient support device includes a sheet configured to be placed beneath the patient in use and a plurality of straps connected to the sheet and configured for use in moving, lifting, turning, and/or positioning the patient. The straps may include one or more retractable straps that each have a stretchable retraction strap connected thereto and configured for retracting the retractable strap. The straps may also include one or more central support straps connected to the sheet in an area positioned between the legs of the patient. The sheet may also include a head support for supporting the patient's head, which head support may also include one or more straps. The straps may be connected to a hoist, which is then used to lift the patient.
Patient repositioning apparatus
A patient repositioning apparatus includes a mounting frame configured to couple to an underside of a bed frame. A motor housing is rotatably coupled to the mounting frame for rotation about an axis. The motor housing carries a motor and a winch. The motor is operable to turn the winch. A strap is coupled to the winch and configured to be wound around the winch by the motor. The strap has at least one coupling mechanism configured to couple to a bed sheet.
APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR REORIENTING A PERSON
An apparatus for reorienting a person includes a wrap having a first lateral portion and a second lateral portion, the first lateral portion and the second lateral portion being releasably securable to one another along an anterior region of the wrap between lateral sides of the person and along a posterior region of the wrap between the lateral sides of the person via a set of fasteners. Each of the lateral portions are dimensioned to extend around a corresponding one of the lateral sides of the person and having anterior and posterior edges that are dimensioned to extend at most partway across to an opposite one of the lateral sides of the person. The wrap is made from flexible materials and dimensioned to extend at least from below knees of the person to above the elbows of the person and snugly retain the person therein.
PATIENT POSITIONING AND SUPPORT SYSTEM
A system for supporting a patient on an inclined surface includes an inflatable device. The inflatable device includes a top sheet of material connected to a bottom sheet of material, the top sheet and the bottom sheet defining a cavity to be inflated, wherein the bottom sheet of material is configured to permit air to pass from the cavity to the exterior of the device and to flow between a bottom surface of the device and a support surface upon which the device is configured to rest, and an input configured for receiving air to inflate the device. The system further includes a high-friction pad attached to the top sheet of material, and at least one attachment system configured to maintain the device on a support surface.
APPARATUS AND SYSTEM FOR TURNING AND POSITIONING A PATIENT
A system for use with a bed having a frame and a supporting surface includes a sheet having a bottom surface configured to be placed above the supporting surface and a top surface opposite the bottom surface, and a wedge having a wedge body with a base wall, a ramp surface, and a back wall, wherein the base wall has a base engagement member configured to engage a surface of the bed to form a selective gliding assembly that resists movement of the wedge with respect to the bed in a direction extending from the back wall toward the apex, and wherein the base engagement member is configured as a patch, the patch covering only a first portion of the base wall such that edges of the engagement members are spaced from edges of the base wall to allow a second portion of the base wall to be exposed.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR SUPPORTING AND STABILIZING A PATIENT DURING HIP DISTRACTION
A method for hip distraction includes positioning a patient on a patient pad placed on a surgical table; and applying a distraction force to a leg of the patient that is sufficient to distract a hip joint of the patient, wherein the distraction force is opposed by a slide-resisting friction force provided by the patient pad and the patient pad is sufficiently stiff to resist bunching while providing the slide-resisting friction force.
