Techniques for addressing various technical problems associated with managing medical data are described herein. One or more medical data tracking applications can execute on an electronic medical data tracking system. Such a computer system can include one more computing devices, such as for example a mobile computing device and a central computing system, that can optionally communicate with each other to send and receive information associated with a patient. The mobile computing device can be configured as an employee identification card, and can be configured to detect and identify patients, gestures, medical devices, and medicine associated with medical procedures.

A gate apparatus includes a detection unit, an alert unit, and a gate control unit. The detection unit detects whether there is an object in a baggage placement area. The alert unit gives, if there is the object in the baggage placement area, an alert about left-behind baggage. A gate apparatus includes a determination unit, a fingerprint authentication unit, and a gate control unit. The determination unit determines a nationality of an examination target user. The fingerprint authentication unit obtains a fingerprint of the examination target user if the nationality of the examination target user is a first country and performs fingerprint authentication using the obtained fingerprint. The gate control unit controls a gate to allow the examination target user of the first nationality to pass through if the fingerprint authentication of the examination target user is successful.

There is provided a gate apparatus that contributes to efficiency of an immigration examination system. The gate apparatus includes a communication unit, and a switching unit. The communication unit communicates with a management server, which calculates a ratio of users of a first nationality in a total number of users undergoing emigration and immigration examination and determines an operating mode of a gate apparatus based on the calculated ratio of users. The switching unit switches an operating mode for emigration and immigration examination of an examination target user to the operating mode determined by the management server.

If authentication by the server device is successful and the approaching person and the authenticated person are the same person, then the gate control unit controls the gate to allow passage of the authenticated person.

A transmitter for transmitting a secure access signal to a system for providing secure access to a controlled item is disclosed. The access is dependent on information contained in the secure access signal. The transmitter comprises a biometric sensor for receiving a biometric signal and a processor for matching the biometric signal against members of a database of biometric signatures. The transmitter comprises enabling means for enabling an inductive circuit, based on the matching of the biometric signal, to transmit the secure access signal conveying the information to the system upon the inductive circuit being placed within range of a radio frequency field emitted by the system.
