11176785 · 2021-11-16 · ·

A system configured to display questions to a user regarding a transaction at an automated teller machine (ATM). The system is further configured to receive a signal from the user in response to a first question, indicating that the cash dispensed by the ATM does not match the cash the user requested. The system is also configured to receive a signal from the user in response to a second question, indicating that the received amount of cash did not match the requested amount of cash, the received denominations did not match the requested denominations, or both. The system is further configured to generate an error report that includes the information indicated by the signals, a report identifier, and a user identifier. The system generates a receipt for the user that includes the report identifier, and the system sends the report to a server for analysis.

Method of operating automated teller machine in multi-sheet withdrawals

A method of operating a device (10) for handling banknotes detects multi-sheet withdrawals using a multi-sheet withdrawal sensor (30). If a multi-sheet withdrawal has been detected, at least the banknotes of the multi-sheet withdrawal are supplied to an input and/or output tray (22). Next, the banknotes are further separated. The denomination and/or number of the banknotes of the multi-sheet withdrawal is determined. The determined number and/or denomination is taken into account in the framework of the inventory management of the cash cassettes (16).

Edge sensing apparatus in automated transaction machine

A sensing apparatus can be configured to detect an edge of a paper that is received by an automated transaction machine (ATM). The paper can move along a path located inside the ATM, the path having opposite first and second sides. The sensing apparatus can include a light emitter and a light detector on the first side of the path, with the light emitter positioned so that it can emit light across the path to the second side. The light detector can be configured to detect light from the light emitter and can emit a signal corresponding to an amount of detected light. The sensing apparatus can also include a control circuit that can control a flow of power to the light emitter, and the control circuit can also receive the signal emitted by the sensor.
