PIN ENTRY DEVICE
There is disclosed a PIN entry device (PED) for electronic Point of Sale (EPOS) transactions. The PED has enhanced user I/O functionality but retains the strict security and certification framework of such a device. In addition to the usual PED functionality, the PED disclosed herein allows feedback from a user to be obtained in response to a question. The PED comprises an alphanumeric display for displaying text to a user, a numeric keypad and one or more function keys. The PED is configured to operate to display text to the user on the alphanumeric display to prompt a response from the user. The displayed text corresponds to approved text and unapproved text. The PED is configured to accept responses entered on the numeric keypad or one or more function keys in response to approved text, and to accept only a single key press response when prompted by a display of unapproved text. A corresponding method is also disclosed.
Business transactions over portable electronic devices with social media filters
System and methods for conducting wireless mobile business transactions on electronic hand-held device are disclosed. The electronic hand-held device comprises a dedicated communication component, a social media filter, and at least one functional identifier. The dedicated communication component communicates with at least one transceiver when the electronic hand-held device is located within a predetermined proximity of the at least one transceiver. The social media filter filters good or service offerings based on a user's desire. The at least one functional identifier is activatable for at least one good or service by a user when the communication is established between the electronic hand-held device and the at least one transceiver and a business transaction for the at least one good or service is initiated on the application server in a secure, user-authorized manner. The business transaction for the at least one good or service is authenticated by a social media provider.
MAGNETIC CARD READER AND TRANSACTION TERMINAL DEVICE HAVING THE SAME
Magnetic readers that read magnetic data which is recorded on a magnetic card and a flexible cable that transfers each of the signals from the magnetic readers to a signal processing circuit side are included, branch portions that are branched off from a main body of the flexible cable and are connected to the magnetic readers, respectively, are provided in the flexible cable, the branch portions have first and second main-body portion side end portions, respectively, that extend in parallel to each other along a card sliding passage, and the main-body portion has a branch portion side end portion that intersects the card sliding passage and extends.
Method and system for authentication via a trusted execution environment
A method for authentication facilitated via a trusted execution environment includes: reading payment credentials in a first application program stored in a first memory area of a computing device; transmitting an authentication request to a second application program stored in a trusted execution environment of the computing device separate from the first memory area; displaying a prompt for authentication data based on an instruction supplied by the second application program; receiving authentication data; transmitting the received authentication data to an external computing device; receiving, by the second application program of the computing device, an authentication result from the external computing device; and transmitting, by the second application program of the computing device, the authentication result to the first application program in response to the authentication request.
MOBILE PAYMENT TERMINAL COMPRISING AN EMBEDDED UNLOCKING FUNCTION
A mobile electronic payment terminal includes a reversible fixed attachment to a support. The electronic payment terminal also includes a command module, which commands unlocking of the reversible fixed attachment enabling the mobile electronic payment terminal to be detached from the support.
MOBILE INTEGRATED BIOMETRIC APPARATUS
A mobile biometric apparatus includes a module and a first frame supporting a mobile terminal. The module includes a second frame supporting a biometric sensor having a sensing surface oriented in the same direction as a display screen of the mobile terminal. The module further includes a coupler and a connector. The coupler removably couples the first and second frames. The connector delivers powers and signals between the mobile terminal and biometric sensor. The signals include biometric information obtained by the biometric sensor. The connector may include a plug of a type configured to be inserted into the port of a smart phone, table, or another type of mobile terminal.
CONTEXTUAL TAPPING ENGINE
Various embodiments for contextual tapping engines. For example, an application executing on a computing device may authenticate credentials associated with an account and detect a tap of a contactless card to the computing device. The application may receive, from a communications interface of the contactless card, action data used to determine an action associated with the tap of the contactless card to the computing device. The application may determine a context of the application based on a current output of the application. The application may determine, based on the action data, the determined context, and data associated with the account, a first action associated with the tap of the contactless card to the computing device, the first action associated with at least one of the application and an operating system (OS). The application may initiate performance of the first action based on the tap of the contactless card.
System for monitoring arrival of a vehicle at a given location and associated methods
A system is for monitoring arrival of a vehicle at a given location. The system includes a server, and a vehicle sensing device. The vehicle sensing device is configured to sense arrival of the vehicle to the given location, and to cause information about the vehicle to be transmitted to the server in response to sensing arrival of the vehicle to the given location. The server is configured to determine a context of the vehicle based upon the information about the vehicle, and take action based on the context of the vehicle. The system may be installed at parking lots, shipping yards, restaurants, stores, and other locations.
Systems and Methods for Use in Facilitating Payment Account Transactions
Systems and methods are provided for use in facilitating payment account transactions, through consumer communication devices, at merchant locations. One exemplary method includes capturing a merchant indicator for a merchant in connection with a payment account transaction at the merchant for at least one product and receiving a checkout token for the payment account transaction from a person-to-merchant (P2M) engine. The checkout token is based, at least in part, on the captured merchant indicator. The method further includes transmitting a request for the payment account transaction at the merchant, where the request includes the checkout token, and whereby the consumer is permitted to purchase one or more products from the merchant, using the consumer's communication device and without interacting with a point-of-sale (POS) terminal.
