Point of Sale Device with Cradle for Computing Device
A point of sale (POS) device includes a nest portion and a cradle portion. The nest portion includes one or more payment card or near field communication (NFC) readers. The cradle portion couples to differently-sized interchangeable frames, which in turn help secure a mobile computing device to the cradle portion of the POS device. The mobile computing device is connected via a connector to the rest of the POS device. Payment card information read by the readers is conveyed to the mobile computing device over the connector for processing. The POS device may also include tamper detection circuitry.
INFORMATION PROCESSING METHOD, PROGRAM, AND TERMINAL
An information processing method to be carried out by a terminal may be provided. The information processing method may include: obtaining a payment request; receiving payment processing information from a server to process a payment based on the payment request; and adjusting a payment setting regarding at least one of an amount of money to be used for the payment, and a user authentication for the payment, based on a communication state of the terminal.
Mobile tablet gun system with mobile tablet having a mobile POS and enterprise resource planning application for POS customer order fulfillment and in-store inventory management for retail establishment
A mobile tablet gun system interchangeably attaches and electronically couples a mobile tablet device to a base form factor through a base mount universal receiver with rotational coupling and electrical communication, allowing conversion of the mobile tablet device from a portrait mode to a landscape mode without operational delay. The base form factor has a bar code scanner and bar code scanner interface PCB activated by a trigger, in communication with the mobile tablet device. The mobile tablet device includes mobile application software and a Primary Printed Circuit Board (PCB) for processing commands for running real-time custom retail applications, system applications and firmware executable on an operating system. A USB payment card reader supports MSR and EMV payment card readers. POS transactions and real-time daily store-level inventory management functions are carried out, including physical inventory, cycle counting, inventory receiving, store transfers, returns, and re-ticketing.
EMBEDDED CARD READER SECURITY
Systems, devices, and methods for embedded card reader security include configuring a personal account number (PAN) application installed on a device to utilize an embedded card reader (ECR) and receiving, at the PAN application and based at least in part on an interaction between the ECR and the device, a PAN for a transaction. The PAN may be sent to a payment processing service and a personal identification number (PIN) application may render a PIN user interface. The PIN may be received at the PIN application and sent to the payment processing service. The transaction may be completed based at least in part on an indication from the payment processing service that the PAN and the PIN have been accepted.
Mobile payment terminal comprising an embedded unlocking function
A mobile electronic payment terminal includes a reversible fixed attachment to a support. The electronic payment terminal also includes a command module, which commands unlocking of the reversible fixed attachment enabling the mobile electronic payment terminal to be detached from the support.
Apparatus and method for payment processing
A computer server and method for payment processing are described herein. A server has a module for forming an encrypted connection with a payment terminal, and pairs a merchant sales terminal with the payment terminal. Communications between the payment terminal and merchant sales terminal are carried out through the server, which converts messages into the appropriate format for each terminal. After the transaction is carried out, the server returns receipt information to the sales terminal for receipt generation.
Contextual tapping engine
Various embodiments for contextual tapping engines. For example, an application executing on a computing device may authenticate credentials associated with an account and detect a tap of a contactless card to the computing device. The application may receive, from a communications interface of the contactless card, action data used to determine an action associated with the tap of the contactless card to the computing device. The application may determine a context of the application based on a current output of the application. The application may determine, based on the action data, the determined context, and data associated with the account, a first action associated with the tap of the contactless card to the computing device, the first action associated with at least one of the application and an operating system (OS). The application may initiate performance of the first action based on the tap of the contactless card.
PAIRING MERCHANT POINT OF SALE WITH PAYMENT READER TERMINAL VIA SERVER APPLICATION PROGRAMMING INTERFACE
A merchant uses a merchant point of sale (POS) device to identify items or services for purchase by a customer, and costs for each. One or more payment amounts are sent from the merchant POS device to a checkout server using an application programming interface (API), which the checkout server sends on to an authorized payment terminal device that then reads payment information from a payment object and sends the payment information back to the checkout server. The checkout server processes the transaction and confirms transaction completion to the merchant POS device and payment terminal device.
METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR OBFUSCATING ENTRY OF SENSITIVE DATA AT MOBILE DEVICES
Systems and methods are disclosed for obfuscating entry of sensitive data at a mobile device, which may be infected with a rogue application configured to steal the sensitive data. One method comprises detecting a prompt for a user to enter sensitive data at a mobile device, and activating one or more of an audio speaker and a vibration motor of the mobile device. The activation of the one or more of the audio speaker and the vibration motor is terminated in response detection conclusion of the user's entry of sensitive data the mobile device.
Point of sale terminal with breakaway cable
A handheld POS terminal is provided, which is wired to a secure base unit by a cable consisting of two pieces that are joined together by a plug-in connector. The plug-in connector has a pull-out force necessary to separate the connector that is greater than the weight of the POS terminal but less than the force necessary to damage the cable connections at the POS terminal or at the base unit. The cable may also include a coiled section, which acts as a spring, so that if the POS terminal is dropped, the coiled section brings the POS terminal gently to a stop before it hits the ground. If a customer drives away with the POS terminal still in the car, the cable will separate at the plug-in connector, preventing damage to the POS terminal.
