Device tracking systems and methods

A device tracking system of the present disclosure has a theft tracking device that permanently secures to an item that has the propensity to be stolen, the theft tracking device has a theft tracking processor and a Wireless Fidelity (Wi-Fi) module, and the theft tracking processor receives ping data and in response transmits response data via the Wi-Fi module. The system also has a remote locator device that has a case and that has a plug for securing the remote locator device to a power receptacle. The remote locator device also has a remote locator processor and a Wi-Fi module, and the remote locator processor periodically transmits a ping to the theft tracking device and receives the response data from the theft tracking device. The processor further transmits data indicating that the theft tracking device is not responding via a network when a response is not received from the tracking device. The system also has at least one server comprising a server processor that is communicatively coupled to the remote locator device, and the server processor receives the data indicating that the theft tracking device is not responding. Further, the server processor transmits location data periodically that shows a location of the item and displays the location to a user.

SECURITY SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR CONSUMER PRODUCTS

Embodiments of the present invention are directed to security systems and methods for displaying and protecting consumer products from theft. In one example, a security system includes a sensor configured to be secured to the consumer product and a base configured to removably support the sensor. The security system also includes alarming circuitry and a tether including a pair of conductors electrically connected to the alarming circuitry. The tether is configured to be connected to the sensor, and the base is configured to receive the tether. The pair of conductors is configured to transmit power and electrical signals between the base and the sensor using the pair of conductors, and the alarming circuitry is configured to monitor an electrical signal transmitted by the pair of conductors in order to determine whether the tether has been cut or removed from the sensor.

Product-display system

A product-display system for displaying and securing a retail product. The system may include a retainer having a retainer bracket and a retainer body coupled to the retainer bracket. A retaining cable may be coupled to the retainer body at an opening in the retainer body. A fastener that may be unfastened to release the product from the retainer may only be accessed through the opening of the retainer body such that when the retaining cable is coupled to the opening, no fasteners of the retainer may be visible or accessible. The system may also include a display stem for holding the retainer and product. The display stem may include a recess for receiving at least a portion of the retainer body. The retaining cable may extend through the display stem and may simultaneously transmit power and data to a displayed product. The retainer may be returned to and held on top of the display stem using a retaining cable. The retainer may be oriented on top of the display stem in one or more predetermined positions through the use of magnetic forces.

Merchandise security system with inductive charging

Embodiments of the present invention are directed to security systems for securing an item of merchandise from theft or unauthorized removal. For example, the security system may include a sensor configured to be coupled to the item of merchandise and a base configured to removably support the sensor and the item of merchandise thereon. The sensor includes at least one electrical contact and an inductive coil, and the base includes at least one electrical contact and driving electronics for the inductive coil. The sensor is configured to transfer power inductively to the item of merchandise when the at least one electrical contact of the sensor contacts the at least one electrical contact of the base to thereby allow the driving electronics to energize the inductive coil, wherein the sensor is configured to cease transferring power to the item of merchandise when the sensor is lifted off of the base.

MERCHANDISE SECURITY SYSTEMS

Embodiments of the present invention are directed to security systems for securing an item of merchandise from theft. For example, the security system may include a sensor configured to be secured to the item of merchandise and a base configured to removably support the sensor and the item of merchandise thereon. The security system also includes a cable configured to be connected to the sensor and a swivel switch at one of the cable for operably engaging the item of merchandise. The item of merchandise may be configured to rotate relative to the swivel switch, and actuation of the swivel switch may be indicative of a security event.

Security connector

In one example, the connector includes a body portion configured to be connected to a cord and a connection portion engaged with the body portion and comprising a plurality of conductors. The connection portion includes a conductive shield electrically connected to a plurality of the conductors when the connection portion is not engaged with the article of merchandise, and the connection portion also includes at least one ground conductor that is not electrically connected to the remaining conductors and/or the conductive shield when the connection portion is not engaged with the article of merchandise. At least one of the conductors and/or the conductive shield is configured to cooperate with the ground conductor to define a sense loop when the connector is engaged with the article of merchandise, and interruption of the sense loop is indicative of a security event.

Power management system

A system comprises a power provider and a plurality of power consumers. The power provider has a plurality of power outlets. The power consumers are coupled with the power outlets via corresponding power cables. The power provider and power consumers may communicate via the power cables using powerline communication as the power provider provides operational power to the power consumers. Powerline communication may be provided using radio frequency integrated circuits in the power provider and in the power consumers. The power provider may provide power event notifications to the power consumers through the power cords. The power provider may also provide equipment identification of the power consumers through the power cords. The power provider may also monitor and regulate power consumption by the power consumers. An adapter may be used to retrofit a conventional computer system to provide powerline communication between a computer and a power supply.
