INTRUSION DETECTING SENSORS AND METHOD
A sensor unit comprising; a magnetic sensor adapted to detect a magnetic field; a light source adapted to transmit a radiation having a signature; a reflecting member for reflecting radiation emitted by the light source; a radiation sensor adapted to detect radiation reflected by the reflecting member; a controller adapted to generate a signal indicative of a security breach when the magnetic field is detected by the magnetic sensor and the signature is not identified in the radiation received by the radiation sensor.
SYSTEM FOR AND METHOD OF SENSING AND RESPONDING TO EMERGENCIES IN A VENUE
A sensing unit mounted at a venue can capture images of targets in the venue, and/or can sonically locate targets in the venue, and/or can read targets configured as radio frequency (RF) identification (RFID) tags in the venue. A control arrangement recognizes whether at least one of the targets is indicative of an emergency in the venue, and automatically executes a remedial action in response to the recognized emergency.
Work zone intrusion alert system
One or more techniques and/or systems are disclosed for alerting workers in a work zone of a potential intrusion by a vehicle. The example system can comprise a detection unit operable to mount to a work zone boundary marker. The detection unit monitors the work zone for intrusion by moving objects using the Doppler Effect. The detection unit can transmit an alarm signal to one or more personnel alerters, such as worn by workers. The personnel alerters can receive the alarm signal and activate an alert, such as an audible, visual, or other sensory alert. In this way, an alert is provided to personnel working in an established work zone that a moving object, such as a vehicle, has penetrated the work zone perimeter. This type of alert may provide the personnel the vital seconds needed to move to safety.
Controlling channel usage in a wireless network
Methods, apparatuses, and embodiments related to a technique for controlling channel usage in a wireless network in a multi-band wireless networking system. In a wireless network with multiple wireless networking devices and one or more client devices, communications between the wireless networking devices occurs via a backhaul channel, and communication between the client(s) and the wireless networking devices occurs via a fronthaul channel. Based on interference characteristics of the wireless channels, a device determines a channel usage plan, and communicates the plan via the backhaul channel to the wireless networking devices of the wireless network.
DOOR AND WINDOW CONTACT SYSTEMS AND METHODS THAT INCLUDE MEMS ACCELEROMETERS AND MEMS MAGNETOMETERS
Systems and methods that address the gap, security, and robustness limitations of known door and window contact systems and methods without increasing the overall cost thereof are provided. Some systems can include an accelerometer and a magnetometer for mounting in or on a first portion of a window or door unit, and a microcontroller unit in communication with each of the accelerometer and the magnetometer. The accelerometer can measure acceleration or vibration relative to a second portion of the window or door unit and transmit the measured acceleration or vibration to the microcontroller unit, the magnetometer can measure magnetic field relative to a sensor magnet mounted on or embedded in the second portion of the window or door unit and transmit the measured magnetic field to the microcontroller unit, and the microcontroller unit can use the measured acceleration or vibration and the measured magnetic field to make a security determination.
System and method for providing information about presence in a space
A system for providing information about presence in a space includes a movement sensor for generating a signal upon detecting movement; and a presence sensor for generating a signal upon detecting presence, being a temperature-based matrix sensor having an array of sensing elements.
The system further includes a processing and/or control component in communication with the movement and presence sensors, configured to generate a presence signal upon receiving the first and/or second signals; and configured to obtain background information of the presence detection field. The information includes reference temperature values and are obtained upon the movement sensor not detecting movement and/or the presence sensor detecting presence. For each sensing element with presence, using the measured temperature value of surrounding sensing elements not having presence. If all surrounding sensing elements have presence, using the measured temperature value of some sensing elements surrounding the former surrounding sensing elements not having presence.
Proximity alerting systems and methods
Systems and methods for detecting a breach of a proximity threshold associated with a first electronic device comprising a first electronic device configured to transmit a first wireless signal; and a second electronic device configured to: 1) measure a strength of the first wireless signal, 2) determine, based on the measured strength of the first wireless signal, a proximity of the second electronic device to the first electronic device, 3) instruct the first electronic device, via a second wireless signal, to subsequently transmit the first wireless signal at a predetermined interval corresponding with a proximity of the second electronic device to a proximity threshold associated with the first electronic device, and 4) measure a strength of the first wireless signal being transmitted at the predetermined interval to detect when the second electronic device breaches the proximity threshold associated with the first electronic device.
WORK ZONE INTRUSION ALERT SYSTEM
One or more techniques and/or systems are disclosed for alerting workers in a work zone of a potential intrusion by a vehicle. The example system can comprise a detection unit operable to mount to a work zone boundary marker. The detection unit can monitor the work zone for intrusion by moving objects, such as by using the Doppler Effect.
Distributed multi-band wireless networking system
Disclosed is a way to expand the range of Internet of Things devices in a home, office, or structure to the range of a local WiFi network. This is accomplished by generating a network bridge for the devices using machine-to-machine protocols to communicate using the WiFi network backhaul channel. Transmissions in machine-to-machine protocol are tunneled through WiFi communications and extracted by the closest access point. Access points include radios for both WiFi and machine-to-machine protocols.
Nanosatellite-based property monitoring
Methods, systems, and apparatus for nanosatellite-based property monitoring are disclosed. A method includes receiving satellite data related to conditions of a property monitored by a monitoring system; determining, based on the satellite data, that the property is at risk from a threat; requesting, from a sensor of the monitoring system, sensor data related to the threat; receiving, from the sensor, the sensor data related to the threat; and based on analyzing the sensor data related to the threat, performing one or more monitoring system actions. The threat may include one of a weather hazard, a security hazard, or a property damage hazard. The monitoring system actions can include sending an instruction to adjust a sensor or component of the monitoring system and can include sending, to a user device, a notification that the property is at risk from the threat.
