Method for estimating a quantity of a blood component in a fluid receiver and corresponding error

A method and system for communicating estimated blood loss parameters of a patient to a user, the method comprising: receiving data representative of an image, of a fluid receiver; automatically detecting a region within the image associated with a volume of fluid received at the fluid receiver, the volume of fluid including a blood component; calculating an estimated amount of the blood component present in the volume of fluid based upon a color parameter represented in the region, and determining a bias error associated with the estimated amount of the blood component; updating an analysis of an aggregate amount of the blood component and an aggregate bias error associated with blood loss of the patient, based upon the estimated amount of the blood component and the bias error; and providing information from the analysis of the aggregate amount of the blood component and the aggregate bias error, to the user.

WEARABLE ALARM SYSTEM INCORPORATING PHASED-ARRAY RADAR WATER SENSING
20170294094 · 2017-10-12 ·

A safety system comprised of safety devices each worn by a caretaker and up to three people requiring minding, that alerts using color coded LED lights and audible tones when a monitored person is in danger. The device alerts if the person is beyond a preset distance, is close to or is in a body of water, or signals they are in trouble, using phased-array radar coupled with image processing.

The phased-array radar allows the remote sensing of water in either daylight or night. The phased-array radar comprises multiple antenna elements including an independent antenna element phase shifter allowing beamsteering. The device scans an object using a preset beamsteering algorithm independent of movement. The multiple antenna elements and beamsteering improve image data accuracy which is then interpreted and correlated with a body of water characteristics. The phased-array radar is also used for caretaker-monitored person communications.

A method for generating an alert, the method comprising: identifying a range of frequencies associated with vehicular communication; determining that a frequency of a received signal is within the range of frequencies associated with vehicular communication; determining that the received signal is from a vehicle; and generating the alert that the vehicle is approaching.

Devices and methods for locating accessories of an electronic device

Devices and methods for locating accessories of an electronic device are provided. In one example, a method may include detecting parameters associated with disconnecting an accessory from the electronic device. The electronic device, or an associated device, may store the detected parameters so that the detected parameters are accessible if the accessory becomes lost. The electronic device may receive a request from a user of the electronic device for assistance in locating the accessory. In response to the request for assistance in locating the accessory, the electronic device may provide the stored parameters to the user of the electronic device to aid them in searching for their lost accessory.

Safety equipment criteria verification

Verifying a set of safety equipment criteria may include receiving a first unit of data at a first computing device. The first unit of data may be received via a wireless signal between the first computing device and a set of sensing devices. A set of safety equipment that includes the set of sensing devices may be identified as the first unit of data. The set of sensing devices may be configured to transmit the first unit of data. The wireless signal between the first computing device and the set of sensing devices may be monitored and the signal strength for the wireless signal may be determined to be below a threshold value. A second computing device may be notified in response to the determining that the signal strength for the wireless signal is below the threshold value.

Wearable charm anti-theft system with manually cancellable alert sequence
09786142 · 2017-10-10 · ·

An anti-theft proximity alert system that includes a wearable smart charm with a charm housing having a button for the wearer to manually cancel a triggered sensory alert sequence. The object monitor may include within its housing a motion detector that monitors the state of motion of the object monitor, and at least one operating instruction that adjusts a property of the transmitted proximity signal in response to a change in the object monitor's motion state. A silent alarm of vibration and/or light on the charm housing perceptible to the wearer of the smart charm may be activated prior to the activation of an auditory alarm.

Systems and methods for detecting a breach of a proximity threshold associated with a first electronic device comprising a first electronic device configured to transmit a first wireless signal; and a second electronic device configured to: 1) measure a strength of the first wireless signal, 2) determine, based on the measured strength of the first wireless signal, a proximity of the second electronic device to the first electronic device, 3) instruct the first electronic device, via a second wireless signal, to subsequently transmit the first wireless signal at a predetermined interval corresponding with a proximity of the second electronic device to a proximity threshold associated with the first electronic device, and 4) measure a strength of the first wireless signal being transmitted at the predetermined interval to detect when the second electronic device breaches the proximity threshold associated with the first electronic device.

WIRELESS TERMINAL DETECTION SYSTEM, WIRELESS TERMINAL DETECTION DEVICE, WIRELESS TERMINAL DETECTION METHOD, AND STORAGE MEDIUM HAVING PROGRAM STORED THEREIN

A wireless terminal detection system provided with user position information acquisition means for measuring a position of a reception-side wireless terminal; pattern classification means for classifying movement patterns extracted from position history information of the reception-side wireless terminal into ordinary patterns and non-ordinary patterns based on classification results in which the movement patterns are classified in accordance with times and positions; and determination means for determining whether a transmission-side wireless terminal, which is a transmission source of radio waves received by the reception-side wireless terminal, is a suspicious terminal based on a reception history of radio waves from the transmission-side wireless terminal in time intervals classified as the non-ordinary patterns.

ABNORMAL STATUS MONITORING SYSTEM
20170221328 · 2017-08-03 · ·

An abnormal status monitoring system includes a monitored side and a monitoring side. The monitored side includes a first status sensing unit for generating status information of the monitored side and a signal transmission unit for transmitting a wireless signal which includes the status information of the monitored side. The monitoring side includes a second status sensing unit for generating status information of the monitoring side, a signal receiving unit for receiving the wireless signal, and a control unit. When the received signal strength index of the wireless signal is higher than a first threshold value, the control unit compares the status information of the monitored side and the status information of the monitoring side. When a difference between the status information of the monitored side and the status information of the monitoring side is larger than a second threshold value, the control unit generates an alarm.

This disclosure describes methods and apparatus to promote sustainable usage of smartphones such as preventing phone loss, preventing overheating and overcharging, and decreasing packaging waste. A method and apparatus to prevent phone loss is disclosed. Radio frequency beacons (or tags) attached to the owner transmit signals to the smartphone. The distance of the owner from the smartphone is estimated based on the quality of the received radio frequency signals in the smartphone. The system alerts user whenever the distance gets farther than a preset value. A method and apparatus to prevent overcharging of the battery is also disclosed. A plugging mechanism is presented that will be automatically detached from the smart phone when the battery is fully charged. Moreover, an alerting system is disclosed that alerts the user to stop using the device when the internal temperature of the device gets hotter than a preset threshold.
