System and method to facilitate assistance in distress situations
A system may comprise a processor-based portable device having a communication unit and a position determining unit and a life circle database. One or more life circle records are defined in the life circle database. Each life circle record is associated with a position/location and comprises contact information and/or instructions to be applied for contacting at least one responder and/or for performing one or more predefined operations in case of a distress situation of a bearer of the processor-based portable device. A life circle record to be used at a distress situation is selected on the basis of a current position of the processor-based portable device.
Sedentary period detection utilizing a wearable electronic device
Systems and methods for determining a sedentary state of a user are described. Sensor data is collected and analyzed to calculate metabolic equivalent of task (MET) measures for a plurality of moments of interest. Based on the MET measures and a time period for which the MET measures exceed a threshold value, it is determined whether the user is in a sedentary state. If the user is in the sedentary state, the user is provided a notification to encourage the user to perform a non-sedentary activity.
Portable personal monitor device and associated methods
The technology relates to portable personal monitor device and associated methods. In particular, the technology provides for improving the capability of personal monitor device systems by enabling functions such as two-way communications from the personal monitor; associating possible threats with one or more locations; and dynamically determining safe locations and potential evacuation routes. Also described herein are monitors which improve the detection of possible threats or risks by allowing a base unit to be used with various replacement sensor modules.
Protective headgear including a personnel electronic monitor device
Protective headgear for use in dangerous and/or hazardous locations may comprise: a headgear shell; a locator device on the headgear shell for providing location data; a motion sensor on the headgear shell for providing motion data; a memory on the headgear shell and having a unique identifier stored therein and configured to store the location data and the motion data; a transmitter-receiver for transmitting the location data, the motion data and the unique identifier to a remote database and for receiving notification data therefrom; and a user interface responsive to the received notification data to provide a visual notification or an audible notification or a physical notification or a combination thereof.
THE METHOD AND DEVICE FOR MONITORING THE ATTENTIVENESS OF AN OPERATING PERSON
The invention relates to a method and corresponding devices for monitoring the attention of an operator of an X-ray inspection system for nondestructive inspection of inspection objects and for ensuring the presence and/or attention of an operator of the X-ray inspection system including the following steps: display of a piece of information that defines a randomly determined desired input; detection of an actual input of the operator as a response to the displayed desired input; and, based on the desired input and the actual input, determination of a signal that indicates the attention of the operator.
SMART AVIATION COMMUNICATION HEADSET AND PERIPHERAL COMPONENTS
In one embodiment, an aviation communication headset includes, but is not limited to, at least one microphone; one or more speakers; one or more docks configured to interface with one or more eyepieces; and at least one control unit operable to perform operations including at least: detecting a presence of one or more eyepieces at the one or more docks; and outputting aviation flight information via the one or more docks for display on the one or more eyepieces.
ALERT SYSTEMS FOR SENIOR LIVING ENGAGEMENT AND CARE SUPPORT PLATFORMS
Provided herein is an engagement and care support platform (“ECSP”) computer system including at least one processor in communication with at least one memory device for facilitating senior user engagement. The processor is programmed to: (i) register a user through an application, (ii) register a caregiver associated with the user through the application, (iii) generate a senior profile based upon user personal and scheduling data, (iv) build a daily interactive user interface that reflects the senior profile, (v) display the daily interactive user interface at a first client device associated with the user, (vi) cause the first client device to initiate a daily interaction prompt to the user, (vii) determine whether any user interaction was received in response to the daily interaction prompt, and (viii) transmit a daily update message to a second client device associated with the caregiver, including an indication of whether any user interaction was received.
METHOD FOR COMPUTER VISION-BASED ASSESSMENT OF ACTIVITIES OF DAILY LIVING VIA CLOTHING AND EFFECTS
A method of detecting decline in activities of daily living (ADLs) over time, the method including gathering a plurality of image data of a subject over a period of time, preprocessing the image data to obtain a plurality of standardized images, segmenting out a feature from each of the image data, providing the segmented features to a trained model to identify possible changes in the features over time, classifying the possible changes as evidence, and using the evidence to calculate a risk score.
SAFETY MONITORING SYSTEM
A wearable device and a system that includes the wearable device is provided. The wearable device includes at least one sensor configured to sense a characteristic of a user, a communication interface configured to obtain a first identifier of a vehicle or equipment, and a controller. The controller is configured to monitor the user based on the first identifier or send the first identifier to a monitoring system; determine whether there is a harm possibly occurring to the user of the wearable device based on at least one output from the at least one sensor, or send the at least one output to the monitoring system via the communication interface; and output, after the harm is determined to be possibly occurring, an alarm based on receiving confirmation from the user, or based on not receiving any confirmation from the user within a predetermined amount of time.
Voice controlled assistance for monitoring adverse events of a user and/or coordinating emergency actions such as caregiver communication
A user, such as an elderly person, may be assisted by an assistance device in his or her caregiving environment that operates in conjunction with one or more server computers. The assistance device may execute a schedule of assistance actions where each assistance action is associated with a time and is executed at that time to assist the user. An assistance action may present an input request to a user, process a voice input of the user, and analyze the voice input to determine that the voice input corresponds to a negative response event, a positive response event, or a non-response event. Based on the categorization of one or more voice inputs as negative response events, positive response events, or non-response events, it may be determined to notify a caregiver of the user, for example where the user has not responded to a number of assistance actions.
