20190049258 · 2019-02-14 ·

Methods, systems, and apparatuses for logging U-turn events and vehicle routing are disclosed. A method for logging a U-turn event includes detecting, at a navigation system, a button press on a human interface device separate from the navigation system based on a signal received from the human interface device. The method also includes, in response to the user input, determining a location of a vehicle corresponding to the navigation system and one or more vehicle characteristics. The method also includes logging U-turn event data for the vehicle, the U-turn event data comprising the location and the one or more vehicle characteristics.

A method for controlling autonomous lane change of a vehicle is disclosed. The method comprising: receiving a destination from a user; determining a current position of the vehicle; calculating a driving route from the current position to the destination; when an intersection exists within in a predetermined distance on the driving route while performing the route guidance according to the calculated driving route, confirming a ranking of a search link positioned on the calculated driving route among search links exiting from an end node corresponding to the intersection; comparing rotation direction information of the search link corresponding to the confirmed ranking of the search link with moving direction information of a lane of a lane link corresponding to the lane on which the vehicle is currently positioned; and performing lane change guidance of the vehicle according to a comparison result of the rotation direction information and the moving direction information.

Live traffic routing

Live traffic routing in a mobile navigation system generates alternate routes based on the user's current location, live traffic conditions and estimated time of arrival at certain locations along the route. Live traffic routing re-ranks alternate routes taking into account which routes offer the best cost path to the user's destination.

System and method for providing content to vehicles in exchange for vehicle information

A system and method for providing content from a source to a vehicle is disclosed. The content is restricted by associating the content with at least one requirement for vehicle information from a vehicle to which the content is provided. When restricted content is requested, a vehicle system obtains vehicle related information from the vehicle. The vehicle information is transferred to the vehicle system from the source, and the restricted content is transferred from the source to the vehicle system. The vehicle system, the source, or both determine whether the vehicle information meets the at least one requirement restricting the content. As long as the requirement for vehicle information is met, processing of the restricted content is allowed.

COGNITIVE NEEDS-BASED TRIP PLANNING

A route-determination module (RDM) is provided, with the RDM having as input one or more cognitive preferences of a traveler. Further, the RDM receives input on a current or a forecasted cognitive state of the traveler, along with the cognitive load associated with one or more potential routes for traveling to a destination. A recommended route is determined based on the preference(s), state, and/or cognitive load.
