The drive mechanism is included in a trolley and is configured to suspend the trolley from a support track. The drive mechanism includes a first sensor configured to sense an operating condition of the drive mechanism. The patient support mechanism couples to the trolley and includes a tether and a second sensor. The tether can be operatively coupled to a patient such that the patient support mechanism supports the patient. The second sensor is configured to sense an operating condition of the patient support mechanism. The electronic system is included in the trolley and has at least a processor and a memory. The processor is configured to define a gait characteristic of the patient based at least in part on a signal received from the first sensor and a signal received from the second sensor.
SHOWER FALL PREVENTION DEVICE
A device may be provided for preventing fatal bathroom accidents relating to falls. Such a shower fall prevention device may be attached to a fixing point on a ceiling of a shower and may have two arm pit hooks pivotably connected to the fixing point. It may further comprise a rod connected between the fixing point and a bar, where arm pit hooks may be connected on right and left ends of the bar. The device may further comprise a strong rubber band or an extendable and retractable belt, connected between the fixing point and the rod. The device may further comprise a handle next to the rod and connected to the bar via an extension of a free end of one of the arm pit hooks, and may further comprise a cushion formed on an extension of a free end of one of the arm pit hooks.
Gait training via perturbations provided by body-weight support system
A body-weight support system that allows individuals with severe gait impairments to practice over-ground walking in a safe, controlled manner is disclosed. The system includes a body-weight support system that rides along a driven trolley and can be controlled in response to the movement of the subject using the system. They system is also configured to apply strong, yet brief perturbations to a subject as they are stationary or performing a dynamic task, such as walking, side stepping, etc., via the trolley of a body weight support system.
SYSTEMS, DEVICES, AND METHODS INCLUDING A WEARABLE LIFT DEVICE
Devices, systems, and methods are described including a wearable lift device including a flexible material having a shape sufficient to encircle a portion of a subject's body; a fastener configured to secure the flexible material around the portion of the subject's body; at least one lift attachment element associated with the flexible material at one or more lift attachment sites, the at least one lift attachment element configured to attach the wearable lift device to a lift apparatus; a load sensor associated with at least one of the one or more lift attachment sites or along a load path between the one or more lift attachment sites; a microcontroller including circuitry configured to receive and process information regarding the measured load; and a reporting device operably coupled to the microcontroller and configured to transmit one or more signals indicative of the processed information regarding the measured load.
Lifting apparatus and associated methods
A lifting apparatus and associated methods for raising a user in a body of water. The lifting apparatus includes a platform configured to receive a wheelchair. The apparatus is reconfigurable between a raised configuration; a lowered configuration; and a storage configuration. The apparatus is configured to maintain the platform in a substantially horizontal orientation in the raised, lowered and storage configurations.
Lift control systems for lifting devices and lifting devices comprising the same
According to embodiments, an overhead lift includes a lift actuator; and a control system communicatively coupled to the lift actuator. The control system may include a control unit comprising a processor with a memory communicatively coupled to the processor and having computer readable and executable instructions and at least one transceiver communicatively coupling the control unit to at least one of a computer, a network, and a data storage device. The processor executes the computer readable and executable instructions to: determine at least one operating characteristic of the overhead lift and an operating time of the overhead lift as the overhead lift is actuated; determine an accumulated load-time parameter for the overhead lift based on the at least one operating characteristic and the operating time; and upload the accumulated load-time parameter to at least one of the computer, the network, and the data storage device.
Apparatus for transporting a patient
An apparatus for transporting a patient. The apparatus includes a supporting portion to grasp part of the body of a patient. A footboard unit is provided upon which the patient is able to stand when supported by the supporting portion, the footboard unit movable along a floor by movable means. A frame is connected between the footboard unit and the supporting portion. The apparatus is configured so that the footboard unit is able to move in proximity to a bed upon which the patient is lying, whereat the supporting portion can grasp the part of the body of the patient, wherein the frame and the supporting portion are able to support the patient in transitioning from a lying position on the bed to a standing position adjacent the bed as the footboard unit is moved relative to the bed.
Patient transfer and training aid
A patient transfer and training aid includes a chassis to which a lifting unit is attached. The lifting unit includes a lifting arm assembly and an active foot support assembly fixed to the chassis. The device also includes a control unit which operates motors of the lifting arm assembly and the active foot support assembly. A patient can activate the foot support assembly to provide vibratory movement of the foot support assembly in order to provide muscle toning and training able to assist in the recovery and rehabilitation of the patient. The device can also be used to aid in the transfer of a patient from one location to another. The device can be used in a variety of different configurations to provide different forms of patient support and training.
Person lifting apparatuses including lifting straps and methods of operation
A person lifting apparatus includes a strap movement system. The person lifting device includes a housing and a lifting strap feeding device located in the housing. The lifting strap feeding device includes a motor connected to a drum and a lifting strap wound on the drum. A sensor provides a signal indicative of force on the lifting strap. A controller receives the signal from the sensor. The controller controls operation of the motor based on the signal. A user input is used to place the strap movement system in a fast mode during which the controller speeds up operation of the motor from a normal operating speed.
