An inflatable device for lifting a patient includes an inflatable body having a top sheet and a bottom sheet attached along opposing side edges and forming at least one cavity there between, and a plurality of connecting members extending outwardly from the opposing side edges of the inflatable device. The inflatable device is configured to be inflated while being lifted by the hoist.

A physical transfer device/board for people in therapy or in need of special care. It starts with a long plank that bridges between the start and finish point and then the plank has a movable, rotating disk with an optional back and leg rest. The disk slides from Point A start to Point B finish and is actuated by an electric motor powered with a battery or electricity from a plug-in receptacle. The whole device is portable with a foldable leg structure to securely and safely support the patient. The use and method of the device anticipates transfers such as a patient in a bed or wheel chair transfer to a tub, shower, toilet or other place for some personal or medical need.

A self or assist-operated lift apparatus is disclosed. In various embodiments, the lift apparatus includes a vertical rail; a linear bearing positioned to be moved along the vertical rail; a drive mechanism coupled to the linear bearing and configured to move the linear bearing at a controlled rate along the vertical bearing between a first position at a lower end of a range of motion and a second position at an upper end of the range of motion; and a seat attached to the linear bearing, the seat being constructed at least in part of a substantially rigid material and having a size and shape suitable to accommodate a seated human occupant.

A person support apparatus includes a deck with a seat section, a leg section, and a back section. The back section is pivotally mounted to the seat section. The leg section has a proximal end pivotally mounted to the seat section and a cantilevered end spaced a first distance from its proximal end. The seat section, the leg section, and the back section are arranged to lie in a common plane when the deck is in a supine configuration to support a person in a supine position. A lift is mounted to the seat section of the deck, with the lift being configured to raise the deck relative to a supporting floor surface to a maximum height less than the first distance.

A holding mechanism holds a care-receiver, a traction mechanism that is connected to the holding mechanism, and the traction mechanism pulls the holding mechanism so that the holding mechanism draws a predetermined path. On the basis of a position of the holding mechanism detected by a position sensor and a force detected by a force sensor, if the position of the holding mechanism is not on the predetermined path, a controller controls the traction mechanism so that the holding mechanism draws the predetermined path by changing the position of the holding mechanism to a position on the predetermined path at a time after the time at which the position is detected.

A transfer seat platform that helps transfer a handicapped person from a wheelchair into a vehicle. The transfer seat platform includes a stand portion having a top portion with a bottom portion, a pair of front legs, and an extended lip, the top portion includes a front end and a back end, the pair of front legs extend from the front end of the top portion of the stand portion and the extended lip extends from the bottom portion of the top portion, and a cushion is disposed and coupled directly on the top portion. The pair of front legs have an adjustable length via a locking assembly. The pair of front legs are placed on a ground surface and the extended lip is placed within a vehicle doorframe.

A lifting device, configured to attach to a lifting head and sling to move a disabled person from one location to another including a support column, a first arm, a second arm, and a friction brake. The support column includes an axis and is configured to attach between two stationary surfaces. The first arm is fixedly connected to the support column. The second arm is pivotally connected to the first arm at a pivot joint. The second arm is configured to connect to the lifting head. The support column and first arm are configured to rotate around the axis, and the second arm is configured to pivot around the pivot joint such that the second arm second end rotates three hundred and sixty degrees around the axis.

The lift of the present invention includes a lightweight, foldable lift that can be conveniently transported and stored in a home or car. According to a first preferred embodiment, the lift of the present invention may be operated as a caregiver lift to allow a typical caregiver to handle a patient under a wider variety of conditions and circumstances than the industrial sized lifts of the prior art. Further, the lift of the present invention is designed to allow a patient to be moved in all directions and to operate on a variety of surfaces.
