Patient arm support and method for supporting a patient's arm
A patient arm support, a method for using thereof, for supporting an arm of a patient during an operation when the patient is lying in a supine position on an operating table. The patient arm support has a base, an upper surface opposite to the base shaped to receive and to secure onto the patient arm support at least a portion of the arm; a proximal end; a distal end; a groove, running along at least a portion of a length of the upper surface of the patient arm support, for receiving at least one of at least a portion of the arm and a hand joined to the arm.
Bodyweight decompression table
Decompression table embodiments are described that provide body weight support distributed along the body by providing a lumbar support harness as well as separate foot and leg attachment elements, Other embodiments may either alone or in combination with body weight support elements may provide elements for placing the body in a pre-stretched configuration during decompression by curving the body support portion of the table and strategically adding controlled spacing from the cervical and lumbar areas to the table surface.
Fail-safe release mechanism for use with patient positioning support apparati
A fail-safe release mechanism for use with patient positioning support apparati having a base structure and a patient support structure, to prevent collapse of the patient support during disconnection of the patient support structure from the base structure.
NEWBORN SUPPORT DEVICE AND RESUSCITATION DEVICE
A newborn support device for supporting a newborn in close proximity to the mother is provided. The newborn support device has a support platform for receiving thereon the newborn in an almost fully supported manner. The platform is provided with an elongated slit which is accessible from a side of the platform and extends through the platform from the top surface to a bottom surface of the platform. The slit enables resuscitation of the newborn on the platform with delayed cord clamping. In another aspect the invention relates to a resuscitation device having resuscitation means connected to such a support device.
METHODS OF PREPARING A SUBJECT FOR ROTATION AND ROTATING A SUBJECT USING AN OVERHEAD LIFT
A method of rotating a subject includes arranging a lifting aid underneath the subject such that a midline of the subject is off center from a centerline of the lifting aid in a direction opposite of the rotation direction. The lifting aid includes a first loop extending in the rotation direction and a second loop extending in the opposite direction. The method further includes connecting the loops to a sling bar coupled to an overhead lift and directing the overhead lift to raise, where the subject rotates towards the direction of rotation due to the off center location of the subject. The method further includes repositioning the subject when the subject has rotated to a lateral recumbent position and directing the overhead lift to lower, thereby causing the subject to continue rotating.
Surgical positioner
In general, various surgical patient positioners and methods for using the same are provided. For example, a surgical patient support is provided for use during anterior hip replacement surgery. The surgical patient support can have a body support configured to receive an upper body of a patient thereon and one or more extremity supports configured to receive one or more patient extremities thereon.
ANTERIOR CERVICAL POSITIONING SYSTEM
A patient positioning system for positioning a patient in preparation for an anterior cervical spinal procedure includes a base section, an upper body support attachable to a superior portion of the base section and a lower body support attachable to an inferior portion of the base section. The upper body support is configured to support the head and upper torso of the patient in a manner that aids in opening cervical spine disk space. The lower body support is configured to comfortably lift and support the legs of the patient. A traction strap assembly is attachable to the base section and configured to extend from the base section up around the shoulders of the patient and along the anterior side of the patient to a lower terminal end to enable intermittent traction of the patient's shoulders.
BED-BASED BALLISTOCARDIOGRAM APPARATUS AND METHOD
A ballistocardiogram (BCG), a measurement of cardiogenic whole body movements, is a technique that enables non-invasive cardiovascular monitoring. A main challenge of the BCG signal is that its morphology and amplitude are sensitive to the posture and/or position of the subject during the recording period. The effects of posture on the BCG measured from a subject standing on a weighing scale have been investigated in the literature, but the effects of body posture and/or position on BCG signals measured from a subject lying in a bed have not been quantified. A contemplated method for bed-based BCG recordings includes (1) creating templates for standing BCG signals obtained from subjects in a prior study, and (2) quantifying the distance between these templates and BCG waveforms obtained in different body positions on the bed for a new set of subjects. In addition, an array processing technique is presented, which includes the application of Gaussian weights on a joint probability density function (PDF) and the similarity score called the q-value to assess those PDFs. The Gaussian curve weights the joint probability according to the reference value obtained from the previous inter-beat-interval (IBI) estimations. The PDFs are selected and combined according to their reliability measured by q-values. This array processing significantly reduces the FIR estimation error by comparing the performance of selective channel combinations to the existing multi-channel algorithm.
SURGICAL BED, ENDOSCOPIC SURGICAL DEVICE, ENDOSCOPIC SURGICAL METHOD, AND SYSTEM
A surgical bed includes: a table on which a body part of a subject is placed; a leg holder configured to hold a leg part of the subject; a support member configured to connect the table and the leg holder to each other, and configured to adjustably support a positional relationship between the leg holder and the table; and a processor configured to derive the positional relationship between the leg holder and the table.
ELEVATED CPR ASSIST DEVICE AND METHOD
An elevated CPR assist device is provided which is suitable for attachment to a stretcher to elevate a patient as elevated CPR is carried out on the patient. The device includes a housing and upper and lower device straps extending from the device housing. The upper device strap may be configured for attachment to the upper portion of a stretcher mattress on, or a backrest of, a stretcher. The lower device strap may be configured for attachment to the stretcher frame of the stretcher. At least one of the upper device strap and the lower device strap may be selectively extendable from the device housing. Selected extended lengths of the extendable device strap correspond to respective patient support angles of the stretcher mattress. The elevated CPR device is lengthened between the stretcher frame and the stretcher mattress/backrest to various desired angles, during the performance of elevated CPR.
