PATIENT ARM SUPPORT AND METHOD FOR SUPPORTING A PATIENT'S ARM
20190290526 · 2019-09-26 ·

A patient arm support, a method for using thereof, for supporting an arm of a patient during an operation when said patient is lying in a supine position on an operating table. The patient arm support has a base, an upper surface opposite to the base shaped to receive and to secure onto the patient arm support at least a portion of the arm; a proximal end; a distal end; a groove, running along at least a portion of a length of the upper surface of the patient arm support, for receiving at least one of at least a portion of the arm and a hand joined to the arm.

A clamping system and method of clamping a rod includes a single knob coupled to a control screw. The single knob can increase or decrease a clamping force on the control screw. A clamp housing includes a control screw channel, wherein the control screw is disposed in the screw channel. A rod channel is capable of receiving a rod. A cleat channel extends into the rod channel. A cleat block has a clamping surface capable of entering at least a portion of the rod channel as the clamping force is increased on the cleat block.

Warming therapy patient care units with automated weaning modes

A system includes a patient support unit having an enclosed patient environment, a heating module, a skin temperature sensor module, an environmental sensor module, and a control system. The control system is configured to selectively operate the system in a pre-programmed weaning mode configured to gradually wean the patient from the warmed patient environment series of stepped air temperature decreases performed over a series of stepped time durations achieves a goal air temperature while maintaining a goal skin temperature within a weaning abort deviation.

PILLOW LIFTING SYSTEM

An apparatus for used to lift the torso of a human from a supine position to a sitting position. This is a lightweight apparatus which can be easily carried and placed on a bed or other flat surface. It is placed under the torso of the subject and includes a base, back rest and actuator. The back rest is pivotally coupled to the base and the actuator is used to rotate the back rest from a flat lying position to a vertical sitting position.

Pressure-mitigation apparatuses for improved treatment of respiratory illnesses and associated systems and methods
12016812 · 2024-06-25 · ·

Introduced here are pressure-mitigation apparatuses able to mitigate the pressure applied to a human body by the surface of an object. A controller device can be fluidically coupled to a pressure-mitigation device that includes a series of selectively inflatable chambers. When a pressure-mitigation device is placed between a human body and a surface, the controller device can continuously, intelligently, and autonomously circulate air through the chambers of the pressure-mitigation device. As further discussed below, the controller device may cause the chambers to be selectively inflated, deflated, or any combination thereof. Such an approach is useful in a variety of contexts. For example, pressure-mitigation apparatuses may be used to improve treatment of patients suffering from respiratory illnesses and patients who are partially or completely immobilized for extended durations (e.g., as part of a medical procedure).

A support device having a support with a body portion having a left and right side defining a width therebetween and opposed superior and inferior edges defining a length therebetween. The body portion has an upper surface and an opposed bottom surface defining a thickness, the inferior edge defining a notch indented into the body portion, the notch extending coextensively in the top and bottom surfaces throughout the thickness of the body portion. A left and right arm wing extending laterally from the body portion, the left and right arm wing extending a distance between the superior and inferior edges, wherein the left arm wing and right arm wing are configured to be rolled into an arcuate shape having an interior channel defined by the upper surface.

BED APPARATUS

To provide a bed apparatus that permits the bed to be tilted only when the knee bottom in the bed apparatus is raised so as to be able to positively prevent the user from slipping to the foot side when the bed is tilted. The bed apparatus includes: a tilting driver that can perform a tilting operation of the upper frame so as to create difference in height between the head side and the foot side and, at least, lower the foot side; and an operational state detector that detects that a knee bottom actuation assembly for raising and lowering the knee bottom is operable. The tilting driver performs the tilting operation when the knee bottom forms an angle of 0 degrees or greater relative to the ground and when the operational state detector has detected that the knee bottom actuation assembly is operable.

Patient Support Apparatus for Releasably Securing a Chest Compression System
20190117502 · 2019-04-25 · ·

A patient support apparatus for releasably securing a chest compression system for providing automatic chest compressions. A patient support surface of the patient support apparatus is sized to support a back plate of the chest compression system and at least a majority of the patient. A harness assembly includes at least one retention strap coupled to each of opposing lengthwise sides of the frame, and a coupler near an end of each of the retention straps. The couplers releasably engage complementary couplers of the chest compression system when the back plate is positioned on the patient support surface. A tension adjustment mechanism is coupled to the retention straps to selectively adjust tension of one or more of the retention straps to secure the chest compression system to the patient support apparatus when the couplers are coupled to the complementary couplers of the chest compression system.
