A motorized cervical traction device comprises an inferior base configured to attach to a patient support (such as an operating table or gurney), a superior base spaced apart from the inferior base along a cranial/caudal direction, and a set of linear actuators extending between the inferior base and the superior base. The superior base includes an attachment point configured to enable mechanical coupling of a load sensor and a patient head attachment (e.g., Gardner-Wells device or Mayfield skull clamp) to the superior base. In use, the device provides real-time load sensing capability and can apply distraction via extension of the linear actuators to a preset load (force control) or displacement (position control). The device also includes a flexion/extension mechanism that enables rotational positioning of the linear actuators relative to the inferior base along and enables control of the flexion/extension angle of the applied traction.

A sitting type spinal traction and disc massage apparatus includes a seat member, a seat pad disposed atop the seat member, a fixing member straddling the seat member and the seat pad and connected to the seat member to fix hips of a user to the seat member, and a moving backrest board disposed atop a rear end of the seat member. The moving backrest board is movable relative to the seat member. A restricting member straddles and is connected to the moving backrest board to fix the user's upper body to the moving backrest board. A lifting unit is disposed below the moving backrest board to move the moving backrest board upwardly from the seat member to stretch the user's spine. A vibrating unit is disposed within and vibrates the seat pad.

The invention relates to a vibrating massage table (1) including a support leg (3) on which rests a table top (2) tilting about a joint (4) with a central axis (40) and permitting an inclination of a patient, said table top being subdivided longitudinally into several butt-joined transverse cushions (5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10) each adapted to a part of the body, one of the cushions (10), adapted to the ankles and the feet of the patient, being subdivided into two portions activated to vibrate alternately by at least one motor means. An inversion table that incorporates additional therapies, such as massage, traction, and heat. Therapeutic elements of the inversion table may be programmable, so that settings are cycled automatically through preprogrammed patterns. The table may have one or more back massage elements that travel along tracks in the table to massage different portions of the back, and similar neck massage elements that massage different portions of the neck. Traction actuators may apply traction forces to the head and the legs. One or more heating pads may apply heat to any portion of the body. Settings for the therapeutic elements may be controlled by a processor that may execute stored therapy programs, or may respond to user input from a controller or a smartphone.

A medical traction system provides an elongate track having a slide with a handle so that tensioning of the strap can be performed directly on the slide with improved tension sensitivity. The slide provides a cam mechanism with low back-travel automatically locking the slide when tension is released permitting one-handed operation.

A protocol for the treatment of lumbosacral spine disease requires the combination of physical and pharmaceutical therapies. For the physical therapy aspect of the present invention, an inversion table is used to periodically impose traction forces of the spine of a patient. Preferably, this is done with the patient lying supine on the inversion table in a head down orientation, with the inversion table inclined at a predetermined angle in a range that includes 45°, for a predetermined time interval that includes 3 to 4 minutes. Decompression table embodiments are described that provide body weight support distributed along the body by providing a lumbar support harness as well as separate foot and leg attachment elements, Other embodiments may either alone or in combination with body weight support elements may provide elements for placing the body in a pre-stretched configuration during decompression by curving the body support portion of the table and strategically adding controlled spacing from the cervical and lumbar areas to the table surface.
