Methods and apparatus for filling features on a substrate are provided herein. In some embodiments, a method of filling features on a substrate includes: depositing a first metallic material on the substrate and within a feature disposed in the substrate in a first process chamber via a chemical vapor deposition (CVD) process at a first temperature; depositing a second metallic material on the first metallic material in a second process chamber at a second temperature and at a first bias power to form a seed layer of the second metallic material; etching the seed layer in the second process chamber at a second bias power greater than the first bias power to form an intermix layer within the feature comprising the first metallic material and the second metallic material; and heating the substrate to a third temperature greater than the second temperature, causing a reflow of the second metallic material.

According to one embodiment, a magnetic disk device includes a recording medium, a recording head including a main magnetic pole, a write shield magnetic pole, a coil, and a spin torque oscillator provided between the main magnetic pole and the write shield magnetic pole and a controller including a record current supply circuit and a drive current supply circuit. The controller executes a process of monitoring variation of a resistance value of the spin torque oscillator while increasing the record current in a state in which the spin torque oscillator is energized and detecting a record current value when the resistance value is increased most largely, and a process of setting the detected record current value to a lower limit of the record current supplied to the coil.

Outer servo readers are positioned toward outer ends of the outer arrays. Widths of at least some of the outermost data transducers in the inner array are less than widths of at least some of the innermost data transducers in the inner array.

Aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to a magnetic recording head of a magnetic media drive. In one example, a magnetic recording head includes a main pole, a trailing shield, and spintronic device disposed between the main pole and the trailing shield. The spintronic device comprises a negative polarization layer (NPL) disposed on the main pole, the NPL comprising FeTi, FeV, FeCr, or FeN, an interface layer disposed on the NPL, the interface layer comprising V, Cr, or Ru, a spacer layer disposed on the interface layer, and a spin torque layer (FGL) disposed on the spacer layer. When current is applied to the spintronic device, the NPL and a first interface disposed between the NPL and the interface layer have a negative spin polarization while the FGL and a second interface disposed between the FGL and the spacer layer have a positive spin polarization.

METHODS AND APPARATUS FOR INTERMIXING LAYER FOR ENHANCED METAL REFLOW

Methods and apparatus for filling features on a substrate are provided herein. In some embodiments, a method of filling features on a substrate includes: depositing a first metallic material on the substrate and within a feature disposed in the substrate in a first process chamber via a chemical vapor deposition (CVD) process at a first temperature; depositing a second metallic material on the first metallic material in a second process chamber at a second temperature and at a first bias power to form a seed layer of the second metallic material; etching the seed layer in the second process chamber at a second bias power greater than the first bias power to form an intermix layer within the feature comprising the first metallic material and the second metallic material; and heating the substrate to a third temperature greater than the second temperature, causing a reflow of the second metallic material.

A method of forming a magnetic element. The method includes cooling a substrate to a cryogenic temperature. The method further includes depositing a magnetic layer with a grain refining dopant on the substrate. The magnetic layer with the grain refining dopant deposited on the substrate cooled to the cryogenic temperature has a magnetic moment that is greater than 2 Tesla and very soft magnetic properties.

According to one embodiment, a magnetic recording device includes a magnetic head, a first circuit, and a second circuit. The magnetic head includes a magnetic pole, a first shield, a stacked body provided between the magnetic pole and the first shield, a first terminal electrically connected to the magnetic pole, a second terminal electrically connected to the first shield, and a coil. The first circuit is electrically connected to the first terminal and the second terminal. The second circuit is electrically connected to the coil. The first circuit performs at least a first operation. In the first operation, the first circuit supplies a first current to a current path between the first and second terminals when the second circuit supplies a recording current to the coil. The first current is smaller than a second current. The second current causes an electrical resistance of the current path to oscillate.

An apparatus, according to one embodiment, includes at least two write transducers positioned a predefined distance apart in a first direction. Outer surfaces of pole tips of the write transducers are substantially coplanar. Write gaps are defined between the pole tips of the write transducers. Planes of the write gaps are oriented substantially perpendicular to the first direction. Coils are positioned to create flux in a magnetic yoke of each write transducer upon energization thereof. The apparatus also includes a mechanism for assisting in orienting a module having two or more sensors of interest relative to the write gaps.
