MOTION ASSISTANCE APPARATUS

A motion assistance apparatus includes a waist frame configured to support a waist of a user, and a proximal support configured to support a proximal part of the user. A pressure applied to a thigh of the user by the proximal support in a sitting state in which the user is sitting may be greater than a pressure applied to the thigh of the user by the proximal support in a standing state in which the user is standing upright.

Preloaded personal augmentation suit and method for assisted human motion

A human motion assistance device has an upper torso harness and a preloaded leg strap arrangement affixed to the upper torso harness. The preloaded leg strap arrangement has an X-bracket connected to the upper torso harness. The preloaded leg strap arrangement further uses a plurality of blocks and a preloaded strap routed through the blocks and connected to the X-bracket. The preloaded leg strap arrangement further uses a knee pad with a split seam. The preloaded strap is under tension, even when the human motion assistance device is in a relaxed state. The preloading provides an immediate force which increases under a loaded state. The potential energy stored during the loaded state is released when transitioning from a standing position to a crouched, squatting, or seated position. The configuration allows for maximizing the energy storage without putting excess shoulder pressure on the user when standing.

Exercise device for alternating movement of arms and legs

An exercise device for alternating movement of arms and legs by which users perform alternating active exercises and passive exercises repetitively is revealed. The exercise device includes a base, a hand driving member, and a leg driving member. Both the hand and leg driving member are pivotally connected to the base while the leg driving member is arranged under the hand driving member. One end of the hand driving member and one end of the leg driving member are configured to be pivotally rotated on the base. The hand and leg driving members are pivotally connected by a linkage. By the pivotal connections of the above parts, the hand and leg driving members are linked and moved with each other so as to lift up or press down arms and legs for stretching. The stretching of arms and legs also generates pressure on the abdomen of the user to exercise his or her abdomen.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR COORDINATING MUSCULOSKELETAL AND CARDIOVASCULAR OR CEREBROVASCULAR HEMODYNAMICS
20220241666 · 2022-08-04 ·

Described herein are systems and methods of guiding a user to achieve musculoskeletal counterpulsation. A method may include receiving a cardiovascular cycle signal from a first sensor; determining a heart rate of the user based on the cardiovascular cycle signal; receiving a rhythmic musculoskeletal activity timing signal from a second sensor; determining an actual musculoskeletal activity cycle (MSKC) to cardiovascular cycle (CC) timing relationship; comparing the actual MSKC to CC timing relationship to a target MSKC to CC timing relationship; providing a recurrent prompt to the user as a timing indication for performance of a rhythmic musculoskeletal activity to guide the user to achieve a musculoskeletal activity cycle rate (MSKR) that approaches the target MSKC to CC timing relationship; and altering a feature of the recurrent prompt based on a determined alignment between the actual MSKC to CC timing relationship and the target MSKC to CC timing relationship.

Measuring method and apparatus for determining the length conditions, the position and/or the radius of movement of the lower extremities of a bed-bound patient

A measuring method determines the length conditions, the position and/or the radius of movement of the lower extremities of a bed-bound patient. A knee module of a rehabilitation mechanism is connected to a point of application of a leg of the patient. A measuring device records and determines a trajectory solely of the point of application during a movement of the leg by the knee module. A model generation device creates a kinematic model from the data. This allows a determination of the length conditions, the position and/or the radius of movement during an initializing movement without having to undertake any surgical intervention. This does away with the need for complex sensor technology and provides a kinematic model of the radius of movement of the patient, the parameters of which kinematic model are used for establishing new therapeutic procedures within the patient's physical therapy.

Motorized recumbent therapeutic and exercise device

A device for therapy or exercise includes a frame, a base at least partially supporting and extending from the frame, a user support moveably coupled to the base and positioned adjacent the frame, a foot crank system coupled to the frame, a hand crank system coupled to the frame, and a motor coupled to at least one of the foot crank system and the hand crank system. The motor selectively powers the foot crank system and the hand crank system and is operable in an active mode and a passive mode.

The invention may be embodied in a physical therapy or health maintenance stretching system including a frame configured for engaging a treated leg of a user at or near the popliteal space of the treated leg to allow a knee of the treated leg to bend inwards in response to gravitational force affecting a lower portion of the treated leg. The frame may be further configured to allow a knee of the treated leg to bend inwards in response to a user force directly or indirectly applied to the lower portion of the treated leg.

EXERCISING APPARATUS WITH A LIMB SUPPORT, AND METHOD FOR DETERMINING THE FORCE ACTING ON A LIMB SUPPORT OF AN EXERCISING APPARATUS

An exercising apparatus for exercising at least one limb, having a supporting frame and at least one crank which is arranged on a rotation shaft assigned to the supporting frame, and having at least one limb support which can be fastened to the at least one crank at different radial distances from the rotation shaft. A detector is provided for detecting the radial distance of the at least one limb support from the rotation shaft. The invention further relates to a limb support and to a method for determining the force acting on a limb support of an exercising apparatus.

Adaptable robotic gait trainer

A gait training system has a motor connected to a first linkage system by an actuator. The first linkage system has multiple linkage members connected to multiple joints and an endpoint that is configured to produce a cyclic gait motion when the motor is activated. First and second linkage members have an adjustable length. A method of customizing a gait pattern on a gait training system is also described.
