A magnetic tape device, in which a magnetic tape is caused to run between a winding reel and a cartridge reel in a state where a tension is applied in a longitudinal direction of the magnetic tape and a maximum value of the tension is 0.50 N or more, and the magnetic tape after running in a state where the tension is applied is caused to be wound around the cartridge reel by applying a tension of 0.40 N or less in the longitudinal direction of the magnetic tape, and an edge weave amount of a tape edge on at least one side of the magnetic tape is 1.5 μm or less.

A magnetic tape device, in which a magnetic tape is caused to run between a winding reel and a cartridge reel in a state where a tension is applied in a longitudinal direction of the magnetic tape and a maximum value of the tension is 0.50 N or more, and the magnetic tape after running in a state where the tension is applied is caused to be wound around the cartridge reel by applying a tension of 0.40 N or less in the longitudinal direction of the magnetic tape, and an edge weave amount of a tape edge on at least one side of the magnetic tape is 1.5 μm or less.

A magnetic tape device, in which a magnetic tape is caused to run between a winding reel and a cartridge reel in a state where a tension is applied in a longitudinal direction of the magnetic tape and a maximum value of the tension is 0.50 N or more, and the magnetic tape after running in a state where the tension is applied is caused to be wound around the cartridge reel by applying a tension of 0.40 N or less in the longitudinal direction of the magnetic tape, and a residual elongation of the magnetic tape is 0.05% or less.

A magnetic tape device, in which a magnetic tape is caused to run between a winding reel and a cartridge reel in a state where a tension is applied in a longitudinal direction of the magnetic tape and a maximum value of the tension is 0.50 N or more, and the magnetic tape after running in a state where the tension is applied is caused to be wound around the cartridge reel by applying a tension of 0.40 N or less in the longitudinal direction of the magnetic tape, and an adhesive strength of the magnetic layer of the magnetic tape is 1.0 N or more, and an adhesive strength of the back coating layer is 1.0 N or more.

The magnetic tape cartridge includes a magnetic tape, and a cartridge reel, in which, in the magnetic tape, a minimum winding deviation occurrence load measured after the magnetic tape is rewound around the cartridge reel by applying a tension of 0.20 N in a longitudinal direction of the magnetic tape is 200 N or less.

A cartridge memory used for a tape cartridge, the cartridge memory including a communication unit that performs wireless communication, a control unit that transmits data to a recording/reproduction device according to a first communication standard via the communication unit, receives data from the recording/reproduction device according to the first communication standard via the communication unit, and transmits data to an information terminal according to a second communication standard via the communication unit, and a storage unit that stores data related to the tape cartridge.

A magnetic recording medium is a tape-shaped magnetic recording medium, including: a substrate; an underlayer provided on the substrate; and a magnetic layer provided on the underlayer. The substrate contains polyester, each of the underlayer and the magnetic layer contains a lubricant, the magnetic layer has a surface on which a large number of holes is provided, the arithmetic average roughness Ra of the surface is 2.5 nm or less, a BET specific surface area of the entire magnetic recording medium measured in a state where the magnetic recording medium has been washed and dried is 3.5 m.sup.2/g or more and 7.0 m.sup.2/g or less, a squareness ratio of the magnetic layer in a vertical direction is 65% or more, an average thickness of the magnetic layer is 80 nm or less, an average thickness of the magnetic recording medium is 5.6 μm or less, and a servo pattern is recorded on the magnetic layer and a statistical value δ.sub.SW indicating a non-linearity of the servo pattern is 24 nm or less.

A tape reel according to an embodiment of the present technology includes: a cylindrical reel hub that includes an outer periphery portion, a tape being wound on the reel hub. The reel hub is formed of a material in which a deformation amount when a load of 300 N is applied radially inward to an axial center of the outer periphery portion is 0.3 mm or less and a water absorption rate is 0.1% or less.

A tape reel according to an embodiment of the present technology includes: a cylindrical reel hub that includes an outer periphery portion, a tape being wound on the reel hub. The reel hub is formed of a material in which a deformation amount when a load of 300 N is applied radially inward to an axial center of the outer periphery portion is 0.3 mm or less and a water absorption rate is 0.1% or less.

A cartridge memory is a cartridge memory used in a magnetic tape cartridge, including: an antenna unit; a storage unit that stores data; and a control unit that reads the data from the storage unit in response to a request from a recording/reproduction apparatus, adds an error correction code to the data, and transmits the obtained data via the antenna unit.
