09805767 · 2017-10-31 ·

In a method according to the present disclosure, a director's view version of a film is recorded. Then the film is recorded from the viewpoint of a different characters in the film. The director's view version and character view versions are time synched to create a film that allows a user to switch at any time between the director's view version and one or more of the character view versions during viewing of the film. A system according to the method uses a director's view camera and at least one character view camera to record a scene. A recording processor communicates with the cameras and receives and stores in memory director's view camera data and character view camera data. The recording processor further time-synchs the director's view camera data and character view camera data. A viewing system has a viewing screen, a viewer-operated controller, and a viewing processor configured to display on the viewing screen at least one of the perspective views of the film scene and to switch between the perspective views of the film scene upon actuation by the viewer of the viewer-operated controller.

The present technology relates to a reproduction device, a reproduction method, and a recording medium, which are capable of displaying closed captions having a wide dynamic range of luminance at appropriate brightness. HDR closed captions serving as closed captions of a second luminance range that is different from and larger than a first luminance range, tone_mapping_info including HDR information indicating characteristics of luminance of the HDR closed captions, and tone_mapping_info serving as tone mapping definition information used when luminance conversion from the HDR closed captions to STD closed captions serving as closed captions of the first luminance range are recorded on an optical disc. The present technology can be applied to a recording medium on which closed captions are recorded.

SIGNAL PROCESSING DEVICE, AUDIO-VIDEO DISPLAY DEVICE AND PROCESSING METHOD
20220060764 · 2022-02-24 ·

A signal processing device is disclosed, which includes a plurality of channel receivers, a plurality of time code processors in one-to-one correspondence with the channel receivers, a timing generator, a signal processor and a transmitter, wherein each channel receiver is configured to parse an audio-video signal which has a data format defined by the SDI protocol and including a time code that characterizes time information. Each time code processor is configured to extract the time code from a parsed audio-video signal obtained by a corresponding channel receiver, and form first frame image data including a frame time code. The signal processor is configured to form an absolute frame output image based on multiple channels of the first frame of image data, frame time codes therein, and an internal clock signal generated by the timing generator. The transmitter is configured to transmit the absolute frame output image for display.

MONITORING AUDIO-VISUAL CONTENT WITH CAPTIONS

To monitor audio-visual content which includes captions, caption fingerprints are derived from a length of each word in the caption, without regard to the identity of the character or characters forming the word. Audio-visual content is searched to identify a caption event having a matching fingerprint and missing captions; caption timing errors and caption discrepancies are measured.

Systems and methods selectively mix a first and second song together during a live performance. The first song has a plurality of first stems, each having stereo audio that combine to form the audio of the first song. The second song has a plurality of second stems, each having stereo audio that combine to form the audio of the second song. A computer, with memory and a processor, executes machine readable instructions of a multiple channel audio mixing application with stored within the memory. The multiple channel audio mixing application plays and mixes audio of at least one of the first stems with audio of at least one of the second stems. The multiple channel audio mixing application is controlled in real-time during the performance to select the at least one first stem and the at least one second stem for the mixing.

In exemplary embodiments of the present invention systems and methods are provided to implement and facilitate cross-fading, interstitials and other effects/processing of two or more media elements in a personalized media delivery service so that each client or user has a consistent high quality experience. The effects or crossfade processing can occur on the broadcast, publisher or server-side, but can still be personalized to a specific user, thus still allowing a personalized experience for each individual user, in a manner where the processing burden is minimized on the downstream side or client device. This approach enables a consistent user experience, independent of client device capabilities, both static and dynamic. The cross-fade can be implemented after decoding the relevant chunks of each component clip, processing, recoding and rechunking, or, in a preferred embodiment, the cross-fade or other effect can be implemented on the relevant chunks to the effect in the compressed domain, thus obviating any loss of quality by re-encoding. A large scale personalized content delivery service can be implemented by limiting the processing to essentially the first and last chunks of any file, since there is no need to processing the full clip. In exemplary embodiments of the present invention this type of processing can easily be accommodated in cloud computing technology, where the first and last files may be conveniently extracted and processed within the cloud to meet the required load. Processing may also be done locally, for example, by the broadcaster, with sufficient processing power to manage peak load.

A recording apparatus including: a recording unit configured to record on a recording medium a file that includes sequentially obtained data; a repair unit configured to repair a predetermined file that needs to be repaired out of files recorded on the recording medium; and a control unit configured to control the recording unit so that recording of data is stopped in response to a drop of a free capacity of the recording medium to a predetermined capacity during recording of the data, the control unit being configured to determine the predetermined capacity based on a data amount necessary to repair the predetermined file that is recorded on the recording medium, to thereby control the recording unit so that the recording of the data is stopped in response to a drop of the free capacity of the recording medium to the predetermined capacity during the recording of the data.

Multimedia Distribution System

A multimedia file and methods of generating, distributing and using the multimedia file are described. Multimedia files in accordance with embodiments of the present invention can contain multiple video tracks, multiple audio tracks, multiple subtitle tracks, a complete index that can be used to locate each data chunk in each of these tracks and an abridged index that can enable the location of a subset of the data chunks in each track, data that can be used to generate a menu interface to access the contents of the file and ‘meta data’ concerning the contents of the file. Multimedia files in accordance with several embodiments of the present invention also include references to video tracks, audio tracks, subtitle tracks and ‘meta data’ external to the file. One embodiment of a multimedia file in accordance with the present invention includes a series of encoded video frames, a first index that includes information indicative of the location within the file and characteristics of each encoded video frame and a separate second index that includes information indicative of the location within the file of a subset of the encoded video frames.
