METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR REGULATING CORE BODY TEMPERATURE
A method for maintaining and/or increasing body temperature of a patient may involve delivering heat to a first location on a limb of the patient, delivering heat to a second location on the limb, apart from the first location, and applying intermittent compression to a third location on the limb, located between the first location and the second location. A device for maintaining and/or increasing body temperature of a patient may include a sleeve for positioning over at least part of one of the patient's limbs, first and second heat delivery members coupled with the sleeve, and an intermittent compression member coupled with the sleeve between the first and second heat delivery members.
System and method for incentivizing and quantifying patient mobility
A patient support apparatus includes a controller having a processor and a memory. The memory may have instructions stored therein related to an exercise regimen for a patient. A graphical user interface may be provided. The controller may be configured to display an alert on the graphical user interface when the patient requires exercise. User inputs may be displayed on the graphical user interface to enable a caregiver to record exercises completed by the patient.
DEVICE, SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR REDUCING HEADACHE PAIN
A device for stimulating at least one cranial nerve and/or spinal nerve is described. The device includes a vibratory motor, and an earpiece, wherein the earpiece is molded substantially to fit within the external ear canal and contacting the concha of a subject's ear. The present invention provides a method of reducing migraine headache, trigeminal neuropathy pain, normalize breathing, normalize blood pressure, induce sleep, increase salivation, improve vertigo, nausea, and visual dysfunction. A method for non invasive neuromodulation includes the steps of positioning a vibratory earpiece within an external ear canal of a subject, applying vibrational energy through the vibratory earpiece to stimulate mechanoreceptors of sensory fibers on cranial nerves 5, 7, 9 and 10, and cervical nerves C2 and C3, and regulating the subject's breathing and blood pressure simultaneously based on the stimulation. Further, the present invention provides a method for treating sleep-disturbed breathing and autonomic disorders.
Magnetic conveyance system
A magnetic conveyance system comprising a support structure having a ferromagnetic capacity and a trolley moveable upon the support structure in a plurality of directions. The trolley may include a trolley frame and at least one attractor cell disposed on the trolley frame. The at least one attractor cell may comprise a housing and at least one magnet, at least one friction reducing load spreading device, and a load transfer member disposed within the housing. The magnet may provide a magnetic attraction force between the trolley and the support structure. The friction reducing load spreading device may comprise a plurality of bearing balls circulating within a reservoir and a channel formed by the load transfer member disposed within the housing. The load transfer member may also include a bearing surface wherein a portion of the plurality of bearing balls is disposed between the bearing surface and the support structure.
Detection of myocardial contractions indicative of perfusion
A system for assisting with a cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) treatment being administered to a patient. In one aspect, the system includes electrodes to provide an ECG signal of the patient, one or more sensors configured to measure an intrinsic myocardial wall movement of the patient, and one or more processors. The one or more processors are configured to perform operations including: during the CPR treatment being administered to the patient, receiving an input from the sensor(s), processing the input from the sensor(s) and the ECG signal, determining, based on processing, whether the intrinsic myocardial wall movement is indicative of a perfusion movement of the patient's heart, and providing an indication to a user of the system based on the determination.
MEDICAL TREATMENT SYSTEM AND METHOD OF USE
A medical treatment system including a treatment chamber, a source of an aqueous mist containing a medication, a source of an oxygen-enriched gas, and a control system adapted to alternately surround a human body part with a mist containing a medication and the oxygen enriched gas, which can be used to treat various skin disorders including infected lesions, bacterial infections such as acne (i.e. Propionibacterium acnes), fungal infections such as Athlete's foot (i.e. fungal genus Trichophyton), conditions associated with hair loss including alopecia as well as ulcerations and frostbite resulting from poor circulation. A method of treating skin disorders is also disclosed, that includes providing a mist containing a medication and enriched oxygen gas to the site being treated as well as providing oxygen to the patient during treatment.
WALKING ASSISTANCE SYSTEM, WALKING ASSISTANCE METHOD, AND WALKING ASSISTANCE PROGRAM
A walking assistance system includes a walking assistance apparatus attached to a leg of a user and a notification unit configured to notify the user of a predetermined state in the walking assistance apparatus. The walking assistance apparatus includes a flexion damper that applies a resisting force in a bending direction of a knee joint of a leg, a sensor that detects a switching timing in a gait cycle of the user, a control unit that switches the mode of the flexion damper in accordance with a switching timing, a detection unit that detects a predetermined state, and a transmission unit. The notification unit includes a vibration stimulation module that applies vibrations or electrical stimulation to a non-paralyzed area of the user's body and a reception unit.
PENILE HOLDER
A penile holder device includes a base, a riser attached to the base at a central portion of the base, the riser including a holder support and an open channel through an upper portion of the riser and a holder having an attachment portion complementary to the holder support in the riser. A holder portion extends horizontally from a top edge of the attachment portion. The attachment portion includes a slot and an attachment portion front edge is in a same plane as holder portion front edge. A locking mechanism can lock the holder in a chosen position relative to the riser. The holder can also tilt and the holder device can include a scale (configured, for example, in the riser) used to trigger a notification when a threshold amount of pressure is placed on the holder portion.
ENERGY HARVESTING APPARATUS USING ELECTROMAGNETIC INDUCTION AND SMART CANE
A smart cane may include: a main body configured to have an adjustable length; an inertia sensor unit configured to generate an angle value between a ground surface and the smart cane or detect an impact on the main body; and a controller configured to adjust the length of the main body according to at least one of the angle value and a number of impacts on the main body.
EXTERNAL COUNTERPULSATION SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR CONTROLLING SAME
