The present invention relates to an apparatus for treating inflammatory symptoms associated with plantar fasciitis in a foot. The apparatus comprises an inclined ramp surface, a flat surface adjacent to the inclined ramp surface, a dowel rollable along both the inclined ramp surface and the flat surface, and a pocket coupled to the flat surface, wherein the pocket is disposed radially outward from the flat surface and ascending the inclined ramp. The apparatus may further comprise a gel pack retained in the pocket, which may be configured for cooling at least one portion of a sole of the foot.

A device for applying cold therapy to the plantar surface the foot is disclosed. The device includes a base that provides reasonable stability for the device when applied to a supporting surface, such as the floor, and a removable, freezable roller. The roller is of sufficient width to encompass the entire plantar surface through a rolling motion. A compression device for applying controllable compression to a portion of the anatomy of a user, includes a body, at least one memory wire embedded in the body and configured to contract in length upon application of a current so as to reduce an effective length of the body and apply a compressive force to the portion of the anatomy of the user, and a controller configured to selectively apply current to the memory wires to contract the memory wires and reduce the effective length of the body. The controller includes a circuit board supported by the body and a microcontroller mounted to the circuit board, the microcontroller programmed to actuate the memory wires according to a compression protocol stored in a memory associated with the microcontroller.
