Measuring system and method for measuring a measurement variable of a flowing fluid
A measuring system includes: a lumen forming a flow path and a flow obstruction arranged in the flow path for effecting a disturbance in a flowing fluid; a sensor arrangement adapted to produce a first sensor signal and a second sensor signal; and transmitter electronics. The transmitter electronics are adapted to receive both the first and second sensor signals and to convert such into first and second sensor signal sampling sequences approximating the first and second sensor signals, respectively, the transmitter electronics further adapted using a digital adaptive filter to ascertain from the first sampling sequence a filter coefficients set and therewith to form a z-transfer function for filtering the second sampling sequence such that the z-transfer function is determined by the filter coefficients set, the signal filter and the second sampling sequence to produce a wanted signal sequence, to produce therefrom digital measured values representing a measurement variable.
Multiphase vortex flow meter
A multiphase flowmeter for detection of fluid flow by monitoring of vortex frequency or perturbation time of flight. The flowmeter includes a bluff body to facilitate formation of vortices during a consistent phase of a flowing fluid. Thus, monitoring frequency of the vortices may be employed to ascertain flowrate. Further, the bluff body may also facilitate formation of perturbations during transitioning phase of the fluid and include perturbation sensors at multiple known locations along the flow-path. Thus, analysis of perturbation detection times at the different locations may be used to ascertain flowrate even in the absence of vortices.

System and method for metering gas based on amplitude and/or temporal characteristics of an electrical signal
A system for metering gas includes a housing configured to allow a flow of the gas between an input port and an output port. Further, the system includes a flow manager disposed in the housing and configured to modify at least one physical characteristic of the flow of the gas in the housing. Furthermore, the system includes a flow sensor disposed in the housing and configured to generate an electrical signal in response to flow characteristics of the gas in the housing. Moreover, the system also includes a processor configured to determine at least one flow parameter of the gas based on an amplitude characteristic of the electrical signal, a temporal characteristic of the electrical signal, or both the amplitude characteristic and the temporal characteristic of the electrical signal. A method for metering the gas is also presented.

An insertion-type flowmeter adapted for removable insertion into a fluid conduit includes an elongate body having a flow opening and a vortex-generating element disposed within the flow opening at distance from the opening entry that is correlated to the size of the flow opening to define a flow conditioning space in the flow opening between the opening entry and the vortex-generating element.
Method of making a multivariable vortex flowmeter
A method of making a sensor assembly for a vortex flowmeter includes securing a vortex sensor to a vortex sensor housing. The vortex sensor housing is secured to a sensor body that is configured to seal a process penetration opening to limit flow of process fluid out of the flowmeter through the process penetration opening. A pair of pressure-responsive diaphragms is secured to the vortex sensor housing such that the pressure-responsive diaphragms face outwardly from opposite sides of the housing and such that the vortex sensor is positioned to detect motion of at least one of the pressure-responsive diaphragms. A mounting hole is made in the sensor body spaced apart from the vortex sensor housing. A temperature sensor housing is secured to the sensor body through the mounting hole. A temperature sensor is inserted in the temperature sensor housing for sensing a temperature of the process fluid.
Balancing valve for adjusting the distribution of fluids in multiple pipes
A balancing valve for adjusting the flow rate of a fluid flowing inside a pipe from upstream to downstream in a longitudinal direction of flow. The balancing valve includes: a check valve and a tubular element simulating a Venturi tube, said valve and element being coaxially connected, respectively, from upstream to downstream in the longitudinal direction of flow of the fluid; a device for detecting the difference in pressure which occurs inside the valve; a valve for adjusting the flow rate of the fluid which flows inside the pipe; wherein: the detection device is arranged between the inside of a first upstream chamber of the check valve and the inside of a central cylindrical portion of the tubular element.
FLOW MEASURING DEVICE OPERATING ON THE VORTEX COUNTER PRINCIPLE
A flow measuring device operating on the vortex counter principle, comprises: a measuring tube; a blockage in the form of a bluff body in the measuring tube for bringing about a Karman vortex street with flow dependent vortex frequency; a first pressure fluctuation measuring arrangement for registering vortex related pressure fluctuations and for providing signals dependent on pressure fluctuations; a second pressure fluctuation measuring arrangement for registering vortex related pressure fluctuations and for providing signals dependent on pressure fluctuations. The first pressure fluctuation measuring arrangement is spaced in the longitudinal direction of the measuring tube from the second pressure fluctuation measuring arrangement. An evaluating unit for determining a vortex frequency and a flow measured value dependent thereon, and the evaluation unit is further adapted, based on the ratio of the amplitudes of the signals of the first pressure fluctuation measuring arrangement and the second pressure fluctuation measuring arrangement, or variables derived therefrom, to determine the current Reynolds number and/or the kinematic viscosity of the medium flowing in the measuring tube.

Method for monitoring a measuring device of automation technology
A method for monitoring a measuring device of automation technology, wherein the measuring device has a capacitive sensor the sensor has at least one capacitor, and the at least one capacitor is applied for determining or monitoring a process variable. A loss resistance of the at least one capacitor is measured by determining the charge state of the at least one capacitor at a first point in time and at a subsequent, second point in time, and, based on a change of the charge state between the first point in time and the second point in time, information is won concerning disturbance of the ability of the measuring device to function.
