20190164169 · 2019-05-30 ·

An electronic device includes a sensing unit, a storage, and a processor. The sensing unit detects whether the electronic device has entered a liquid, and upon sensing that the electronic device has entered a liquid, senses a number of environmental parameters of the liquid. The processor obtains the number of environmental parameters of the liquid from the sensing unit and determines whether any of the number of environmental parameters exceed a predetermined value, and judges, when any of the number of environmental parameters exceed the predetermined value, that a waterproof warranty on the electronic device is voided.

In one embodiment, the disclosed apparatus is a process cooling-water isolation system used in a process tool. The system includes an isolation valve coupled between a water supply and an inlet of one or more components in a process-module water-cooling circuit. An open device allows cooling water to flow to the one or more components, while a close device prevents cooling water from flowing to the one or more components. At least one water-leak sensor is coupled to the close device to detect a water leak within the process tool. A check valve having an inlet port is coupled to an outlet of the one or more components, and an outlet port is coupled to a water-return reservoir. The check valve prevents water from back-flowing from the water-return reservoir into the one or more components. Other apparatuses and methods are disclosed.

Integrated Leak Detection System For Water Heaters

A water heater includes a leak detection system that is integrated with the water heater. The leak detection system includes a channel that extends circumferentially around the water heater. In one example, the channel is built into the water heater. In another example, the channel is formed by a sensor bracket that is coupled to the water heater. Further, the leak detection system includes a sensor assembly that is configured to detect water that leaks from the water heater. The sensor assembly includes a leak sensor and/or a wicking tube. The wicking tube is disposed around at least a portion of the leak sensor. Further, the wicking tube is disposed in the continuous channel and extends circumferentially along the water heater to create a circumferential area of leak detection around the water heater.

Sensor
20190093830 · 2019-03-28 ·

A sensor assembly for detecting material loss of a vessel transporting flowing media, the sensor assembly having at least one sensor positioned between a pair of annular plates such that the radially innermost surface of the sensor is in open communication with the flowing media. A series of parallel resistors spaced along the sensor and transmit a signal. As the material of the annular plates is worn away by corrosion and/or erosion, the outermost resistor becomes exposed to the flowing media and breaks the circuit as to that resistor, thus changing the signal.

Wireless battery leak detection

An apparatus for detecting leaks in a battery includes a plurality of cells, each which include a pair of conductive leads bracketing a polymer seal, and a wireless measurement and communication chip (chip) configured to perform capacitive measurement, showing a change in capacitance when bridged by ionically conductive species or when a wick is suffused with an electrolyte.

Cooling module with leak detector and related systems

In some respects, concepts disclosed herein generally concern systems, methods and components to detect a presence of a liquid externally of a desired primary flow path through a segment of a fluid circuit, e.g., throughout a cooling loop. Some disclosed concepts pertain to systems, methods, and components to direct seepage or leakage of a liquid coolant toward a lead-detection sensor. As but one example, some disclosed liquid-cooled heat exchangers incorporate a leak-detection sensor, which, in turn, can couple with a computing environment that monitors for detected leaks, and, responsive to an indication of a detected leak, invokes a task to control or to mitigate the detected leak.
