System and technique for extracting particulate-containing liquid samples without filtration
A filtration-free liquid sampling system may be used to extract particulate or debris-containing liquid samples that may otherwise plug a filter over its service life. For example, such a system may be used to extract liquid sample from an industrial textile washer to monitor and/or validate the quality of wash conditions within the washer. In some examples, the system includes a pump that creates a vacuum on a backstroke, drawing liquid into a sensor housing positioned between the pump and the washer. After holding the liquid in the sensor housing long enough to measure its properties, the pump can be driven in a reverse stroke to pressurize the contents in the sensor housing and force the liquid back into the washer. This vacuum fill/pressure purge can keep the sensor housing free of debris.
DESIGNS FOR ENHANCED RELIABILITY AND CALIBRATION OF LANDFILL GAS MEASUREMENT AND CONTROL DEVICES
An apparatus for sampling landfill gas from a landfill flowing through a pipe. The apparatus may comprise: an enclosure configured to receive a section of the pipe; a gas sampling port in the section of the pipe; at least one sensor device disposed in a region of the enclosure, the at least one sensor being coupled to the section of the pipe through the gas sampling port; and thermal insulation positioned to retain heat from the section of the pipe in the region of the enclosure. A method of operating a landfill gas recovery system. The method may comprise: flowing gas from a well riser pipe through a sampling subsystem to a collection system; and heating a portion of the sampling subsystem with the gas flowing from the well riser pipe to the collection system.
MODULAR SYSTEM FOR UPSTREAM WASTEWATER SAMPLING
Provided herein is a wastewater sampling system including: an inlet tube; an outlet port; a high-flow circuit fluidly coupling the inlet tube to the outlet port; a first pump, along the high-flow circuit, configured to pump wastewater through the high flow circuit; a sampling circuit, fluidly coupled to the high-flow circuit via a junction, comprising a solid waste filter fluidly coupled to the junction and a solid-phase extraction cartridge fluidly coupled to an outlet of the solid waste filter; a second pump along the sampling circuit; a controller configured to, during a sampling cycle at a first time, activate the first pump; at a second time, activate the second pump; and at a third time succeeding the second time by a sampling duration, deactivate the second pump.
METHODS, APPARATUS, AND SYSTEMS FOR DETECTING AND REMOVING MICROPLASTICS FROM WATER
Methods, apparatus, and systems are provided for detecting and removing microplastics from wastewater effluent. Both, automatic/remote and manual monitoring and sampling components are included to detect the presence of microplastics. The automatic monitoring and sampling component includes a TSS sensor and associated apparatus calibrated to account for non-plastic solids present in the wastewater and, thereby, more accurately determine the presence of microplastics. Efficient separation and removal of microplastics from wastewater effluent is performed by a specialized capture net apparatus having multiple sized mesh components and optional diffuser devices which perform size exclusion filtration of microplastics from the water. In an exemplary embodiment, the methods generally include diverting treated wastewater effluent from a wastewater treatment facility's main line into a wastewater sampling mechanism via an intake pipe, and then into a solids monitoring and separation mechanism which includes the specialized capture net apparatus.
ON-THE-FLY POLYMER QUALITY TESTING DEVICE
An assembly includes a bypass line having a first connection end and a second connection end, a device base positioned along the bypass line, an upstream valve positioned along the bypass line between the device base and the first connection end, and a downstream valve positioned along the bypass line between the device base and the second connection end. The device base includes a first opening to the bypass line, a second opening to the bypass line, and a support structure supporting at least one of the first and second openings.
ANALYSIS DEVICE FOR DETECTING SOLID PARTICLES IN A LUBRICANT
Analysis device for detecting solid particles in suspension in a lubricant, the analysis device comprising one or more ferromagnetic solid particle sensors, one or more other sensors able to detect non-ferromagnetic solid particles, and one or more magnets. The ferromagnetic solid particle sensors are offset in a direction perpendicular to a main direction of flow of the lubricant in relation to the other sensors, and the magnets are arranged so as to attract ferromagnetic solid particles towards the sensors of ferromagnetic solid particles by drawing them away from the other sensors.
WASTEWATER SPECIMEN COLLECTION SYSTEM AND METHOD
A wastewater solid and/or liquid specimen/sample collection system provides continuous time sampling of a liquid source. The system includes an enclosure whose temperature is maintained within a temperature range for sample collection and storage. A sample collection container within the enclosure has an inlet for receiving intake liquid flow containing the sample being collected. An intake liquid conduit in fluid connection with the enclosure/container has a second end submerged into the liquid source. A pump provides an inlet connector in fluid connection with the intake liquid conduit. A controller communicatively coupled to an electrical motor of the pump transmits a pump activation signal with pump speed and length of time for sample collection, which activates the pump to initiate suction at the inlet connector. The pump suctions intake liquid at a flow rate that allows continuous sampling of the liquid source over an entirety of the length of sampling time.
