The present disclosure provides a measuring device for biological tissue by using an optical sensor, the device being compact enough to fit in a user's hand and casually usable by the user. The measuring device is provided with: an optical sensor that measures optical data about an object of measurement through a measurement surface in contact with the object of measurement by irradiating the object of measurement with light from a light emitter and causing a light receiver to receive reflected light that is reflected from the object of measurement, the object of measurement being a portion of biological tissue; a temperature sensor that measures the temperature of the optical sensor; and a data processor that processes the optical data on the basis of the temperature of the optical sensor and derives a measurement result pertaining to the object of measurement on the basis of the processed optical data.
HYDRATION MONITOR AND METHODS OF USE
The present disclosure relates to optical methods and devices based on pulsate behavior of blood and optical absorption spectroscopy to measure the level of water and/or other substances or compounds, such as an alcohol or lipid, in the blood and the tissues surrounding blood vessels and arteries.
Water content sensor and road surface state detection device
A water content sensor includes: a light emitter that emits detection light having a first wavelength band and reference light a second wavelength band toward a road surface; a first light receiver that converts the detection light reflected by the road surface to a first electric signal; a second light receiver that converts the reference light reflected by the road surface to a second electric signal; and a computation processor that detects the amount of water based on a signal ratio between the first electric signal and the second electric signal. The computation processor detects the amount of water based on the signal ratio obtained when the signal intensity of at least one of the first electric signal and the second electric signal is within a predetermined range defined relative to a reference value.

ROAD-SURFACE STATE DETERMINATION APPARATUS
A road-surface state determination apparatus performing non-contact determination of a state of a road surface includes one or more processors. The one or more processors control a light source emitting each of three near-infrared lights having respective wavelengths different from one another, thereby cause the three near-infrared lights to be applied from the light source onto the road surface, and cause a light reception sensor to receive the three near-infrared lights reflected by the road surface. The one or more processors perform primary determination as to whether a type of the road surface is a snow accumulated state in precedence over other types on the basis of a light reception result obtained by the light reception sensor, and thereafter perform secondary determination as to which one of the other types the type of the road surface is on the basis of the light reception result.

DEVICE AND METHOD FOR MEASURING MULTIPLE ANALYTE CONCENTRATIONS IN A MEASURING MEDIUM
The present disclosure relates to a device for measuring a first analyte concentration and a second analyte concentration in a measuring medium, the device including: a sample cell; a first light source unit; a first detector unit; a functional element; a second light source unit; a second detector unit; and a control unit adapted to analyze a detected first light for determining a first value representing the concentration of the first analyte in the measuring medium and adapted to analyze a detected third light for determining a second value representing the concentration of the second analyte in the measuring medium. A method of using the device is also disclosed.
RAPID, SENSITIVE HYDROGEN DETECTOR WITH ACTIVE HYDROGEN-DERIVED WATER VAPOR SIGNAL MODULATION
In various embodiments, rapid, sensitive detection of molecular hydrogen is achieved by chemically converting hydrogen to water vapor and then detecting the water vapor as a surrogate for the hydrogen. Detection may be enhanced by dampening variation in ambient water vapor and rapidly actively modulating a hydrogen-derived water vapor component. For example, the detector may receive sample gas that includes ambient water vapor and hydrogen, dry the sample gas to dampen variation in the ambient water vapor, divide the sample gas into a chemical conversion flow and a bypass flow, chemically convert hydrogen in the chemical conversion flow to water vapor, alternate between measuring water vapor in the converted chemical conversion flow or the bypass flow to produce a water vapor signal, separate the water vapor signal in the time domain to extract a hydrogen-derived water vapor signal, and output a hydrogen signal based on the hydrogen-derived water vapor signal.
ENHANCED CHEMICAL CHARACTERIZATION OF SOLID MATRICES USING X-RAY FLUORESCENCE AND OPTICAL COLOR REFLECTANCE
An apparatus or method determines a content of the one or more elements of a solid matrix by scanning the solid matrix using a PXRF spectrometer and a color sensor, receiving a PXRF spectra from the PXRF spectrometer and a numerical color data from the color sensor, extracting a value for each of the one or more elements the PXRF spectra, determining the content of the one or more elements of the solid matrix using one or more processors and a predictive model that relates the value of each of the one or more elements and the numerical color data to the content of the one or more elements of the solid matrix, and providing the content of the one or more elements of the solid matrix to one or more input/output interfaces.
