Sensor device for monitoring the state of a lubricant and method for producing said sensor device

Rolling bearings include a plurality of rolling bodies which during operation roll on raceways. In order to reduce friction during rolling, it is customary to supply the rolling bearings with a lubricant. However, the quality of the lubricant can deteriorate during operation due to long-term stress, aging, or thermal influences, or get lost in gaps etc. The objective addressed by the invention is that of providing a sensor device, which can be operated in a functionally reliable manner. This objective is achieved by a sensor device for monitoring the state of a lubricant in a lubricant chamber, including a transmitter platform, wherein on the transmitter platform, a plurality of diode devices are arranged, having a measurement window device, wherein the measurement window device is arranged between a measuring chamber and the lubricant chamber, having a receiving device, wherein at least one of the diode devices comprises a die and a plastic dome. The plastic dome and the die are connected by way of a contact surface, wherein the contact surface is arranged on an upper side of the die.

Method for measuring optical attenuation in a liquid medium

The present invention provides a meter and method of use for measuring an optical attenuation coefficient in a liquid medium. In operation, a collimated beam, produced by a laser of the attenuation meter apparatus, propagates thru the liquid medium with filtered back-scattered light arriving at a camera of the meter. A light image is formed at a focal plane of the camera. The light image is recorded and analyzed by a microcomputer to provide optical beam attenuations coefficients.

Optical attenuation coefficient meter

An attenuation meter is provided for use in a water environment. In operation, a transmitter of the meter transmits a laser pulse focused to a size at a predetermined range. A receiver of the meter images a focused spot to minimize unwanted light back scattering and avoid diffractive spreading within the back scattering region. Filtering the angular region can further reject scattered light. The filtered light is received, measured and processed by a oscilloscope as pulse averages. The meter also includes a photodetector to measure a diffuse attenuation coefficient. The output voltage of the photodetector is measured and processed by the oscilloscope that produces an average voltage over a preset number of pulses. A controller best fits voltage to time dependence to produce the diffuse attenuation coefficient. Only the shape of the receiver time dependence is required to provide the diffuse attenuation coefficient measurement.

Method and apparatus to determine colour of egg yolk

The present concept is a method of preparing an egg to determine the color of the egg using an egg yolk cover. The egg yolk cover is dome-shaped with a base edge and inspection area. The egg yolk cover eliminates ambient light from impinging on the egg yolk and is used in combination with a light sensor to determine the color of egg yolks. The light sensor includes a single flat printed circuit board with a top and bottom side which includes at least one LED light and one color sensor, at least one light pipe receiving light from the LED and transmitting it onto a substrate at an angle theta and a tube frame including an optical tube for receiving light reflections from the substrate. The light pipes and the tube frame are compression fit between the printed circuit board and a lower housing. To determine the color of the egg yolk, the egg is first cracked onto a flat surface. The egg yolk cover is then placed over the egg yolk and the color sensor is placed onto the inspection area to measure the color.

COFFEE BEAN ANALYSIS SYSTEM AND COFFEE MACHINE WITH COFFEE BEAN ANALYSIS

A system is provided for analyzing coffee beans. A light sensor senses a level of darkness of a coffee bean and a distance sensor is used to determine a distance between the light sensor and the coffee bean. The sensed level of darkness is then calibrated using the determined distance, thereby to obtain a calibrated (and thereby more accurate) level of darkness. This represents a roasting intensity and is used by a coffee machine to adjust coffee brewing parameters.

Extending the range of turbidity measurement using polarimetry
09823183 · 2017-11-21 · ·

Turbidity measurements are obtained by directing a polarized optical beam to a scattering sample. Scattered portions of the beam are measured in orthogonal polarization states to determine a scattering minimum and a scattering maximum. These values are used to determine a degree of polarization of the scattered portions of the beam, and concentrations of scattering materials or turbidity can be estimated using the degree of polarization. Typically, linear polarizations are used, and scattering is measured along an axis that orthogonal to the direction of propagation of the polarized optical beam.
