Apparatus for detecting a substance and method of operating the same
An apparatus configured to detect a substance, and method of operating and forming the same. In one embodiment, the apparatus includes a tunable resonator including an upper Bragg reflector and a lower Bragg reflector separated by a porous matrix. The tunable resonator is configured to be illuminated by a light source and produce a first spectral optical response from a substance absorbed within the porous matrix. The apparatus also includes a detector positioned proximate the tunable resonator configured to provide a first absorption signal representing the first spectral optical response.
COLORIMETRIC SENSORS AND METHODS OF MANUFACTURING THE SAME
A colorimetric sensor for detecting an analyte of interest that includes multiple surfaces and a molecularly imprinted polymer defining a cavity shaped to receive an analyte of interest. Each surface defines a void (e.g., a pore or a nanohole) and at least one surface defines a fluid inlet. The sensor is configured such that, when an analyte contacts the molecularly imprinted polymer and becomes disposed within the cavity, a wettability of at least one of the surfaces changes thereby to cause a detectable color change in the sensor. Optionally, the sensor may also include a metal layer at a bottom of each void or nanohole and outside a top of each void or nanohole for use as a plasmon resonance-type sensor.
METHODS AND SENSORS FOR DETECTION
Embodiments of the present disclosure provide for methods of detecting, sensors (e.g., chromogenic sensor), kits, compositions, and the like that related to or use tunable macroporous polymer. In an aspect, tunable macroporous materials as described herein can be used to determine the presence of a certain type(s) and quantity of liquid in a liquid mixture.
Diagnostic method and device performing the same
The present disclosure relates to a diagnostic method and a device performing the same. According to an aspect of the present disclosure, a diagnostic device is a diagnostic device that uses a test kit including a specimen plate having a specimen region in which a specimen is smeared and a patch plate configured to store a contact-type patch, which comes into contact with the specimen to stain the specimen, and the diagnostic device includes a body having a loading region in which the test kit is placed, a moving unit configured to move the patch plate and the specimen plate of the test kit relative to each other so that the specimen placed in the test kit is smeared in the specimen region, and a contact unit configured to move a structure of the test kit such that the contact-type patch comes into contact with the smeared specimen so that the smeared specimen is stained.
Detection system and method with nanostructure flow cell
A system and method for determining concentration of a constituent of a sample fluid includes a flow cell with a light source emitting incident light to a proximal end thereof. Media disposed within the flow cell supports nanostructures that are substantially transparent in at least a portion of the incident light spectrum. The nanostructures adsorb or absorb the constituent to attain a concentration that is a multiple of the concentration of the constituent in the sample fluid. A sensor detects transmitted light exiting from the media, and generates outputs corresponding to a spectrum of the transmitted light. A processor captures the sensor outputs and compares the incident light spectrum to the transmitted light spectrum to generate an absorbance spectrum. The absorbance spectrum is used to calculate the concentration in the nanostructures, which is then used with the predetermined multiple to calculate the sample concentration.
BIOCHIP AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING BIOCHIP
Disclosed are a biochip capable of detecting and analyzing multivalent bindings between target protein and binding mediator from monovalent bindings and a method for manufacturing the same. A biochip according to an embodiment comprises: a hydrogel functional layer on which a binding mediator is formed and of which physical properties are changed by a reaction between target protein to be introduced and the binding mediator; and a transducer configured to deliver a displacement signal corresponding to a change in the physical properties of the hydrogel functional layer to an analysis instrument, wherein the reaction is multivalent bindings between the target protein and the binding mediator, and de-swelling occurs in at least a portion of the hydrogel functional layer by the multivalent bindings.
Fluorescence sensor
A light guide unit of a fluorescence sensor is disclosed, which includes at least an optical-waveguide film in which one or more optical waveguides are formed. Each of these films includes a plurality of optical channels that output excitation light (E) or input fluorescence (F). All the optical channels are covered with a fluorescence unit.
TEST ELEMENT ANALYSIS SYSTEM FOR THE ANALYTICAL EXAMINATION OF A SAMPLE
A test element analysis system for analytical examination of a sample. The system comprises a measurement device, which comprises a test element receptacle for receiving at least one test element at least partially, wherein the receptacle comprises at least one first and at least one second part, wherein the first part comprises at least one support surface for placement of the test element, wherein the second part comprises at least one optical detector for detecting at least one detection reaction of at least one test chemical contained in the test element, wherein the second part is movable relative to the first part, wherein the receptacle is configured to position the second part such that a test element may be inserted into the receptacle and to subsequently position the second part in a closed position such that at least one abutment surface of the second part rests on the test element.
