Detecting composition of a sample based on thermal properties
The invention relates to detecting a composition of a sample or contamination in liquids by detecting corresponding changes in their thermal properties. In a disclosed arrangement, an apparatus is provided comprising a first probe element configured to provide a first surface in direct contact with the sample and a second surface that is not in direct contact with the sample. A measurement system measures a rate of heat transfer through the first surface. A processing unit analyses the measured rate of heat transfer in order to detect a heat transfer characteristic of the sample that is indicative of a composition of the sample.

The multi-screen supporting device comprises a vacuum tank, three layers of protecting screens, two layers of thermal insulation screens, a protecting screen supporter for supporting and fixing the protecting screens, a thermal insulation screen supporter for supporting and fixing the thermal insulation screens, and a connecting piece for connecting and fixing the protecting screen supporter and the thermal insulation screen supporter. The multi-screen supporting mode in the high-temperature calorimeter solves the problems of time consumption for disassembling and assembling, low multi-screen assembling coaxiality and reduced experimental repeatability caused by many parts moved in each disassembling and assembling in the existing high-temperature calorimeter. The multi-screen supporting mode is easy in part processing, high in disassembling and assembling efficiency and convenient in operation, and effectively improves the experimental repeatability.
SORBENT BASED GAS CONCENTRATION MONITOR
A gas monitor apparatus includes a sorbent material that adsorbs a target gas based on a concentration of the target gas in a monitored environment and a reference material that does not respond to the target gas. The gas monitor also includes a first thermistor disposed within the sorbent material and a second thermistor disposed within the reference material, the first thermistor to provide a first indication of a first temperature of the sorbent material and the second thermistor to provide a second indication of a second temperature of the reference material. A processing device determines a concentration of the target gas based at least in part on a differential measurement between the first temperature and the second temperature.

METHOD OF DETECTING OR QUANTIFYING DETECTION TARGET IN SPECIMEN, COMPOSITE PARTICLE, AND REAGENT
According to one embodiment, a method of detecting or quantifying a detection target in a specimen includes: irradiating a reaction mixture containing composite particles and the specimen with light to promote binding between the composite particles and the detection target; and performing measurement on the reaction mixture irradiated with the light to detect or quantify the detection target. The composite particles each include a carrier particle including two or more regions having different physical properties on a surface, and an affinity substance carried on the carrier particle and having affinity to the detection target. The light can be absorbed by at least one of the two or more regions.
WIRELESSLY SENSING PROPERTIES OF A CLOSED ENVIRONMENT AND DEVICES THEREOF
A wireless sensor measures properties of a substance and transmits the properties to a remote wireless receiver. The wireless sensor can be fully enclosed within a container containing the substance, allowing remote monitoring of the properties of the substance without compromising integrity of a closed system.

Device for Detecting the Fill Level of Media in Containers
The invention relates to devices for detecting the fill level of media in containers.
The devices are distinguished, in particular, by a simple and reliable detection of the fill level.
For this purpose, multiple measuring points, each consisting of a series circuit of a resistor and a p-n junction, are spaced apart from one another. Each measuring point is connected, on the one hand, to an input of a multiplexer. On the other hand, the measuring points are connected to a reference potential. The output of the multiplexer is connected to a control device, wherein the control device is a control device periodically supplying a voltage to the measuring point connected to the control device via the multiplexer and measuring the voltage drop, a control device determining the medium from the temperature-dependent forward voltages resulting from the different thermal properties of the medium and a control device ascertaining the fill level from the consecutive measuring points.
Device and method for calorimetrically measuring sorption processes
The aim of the invention is to provide a commercially usable and inexpensive device and method with which a sorption enthalpy can be measured in a simple manner. This is achieved by a device for calorimetrically measuring sorption processes, comprising a sorption cell for receiving a sample, the sorption cell having a volume for filling with a sorption gas, and comprising a reference cell likewise for filing with the sorption gas. A measurement gas volume is arranged around the sorption cell for receiving a reference gas, and the reference cell is surrounded by a reference gas volume, which is likewise provided for receiving the reference gas. A gas connection is provided between the sorption cell and the reference cell in order to conduct sorption gas into the sorption cell and the reference cell such that a sorption reaction occurs with the sample in the sorption cell. Furthermore, a device is provided for measuring pressure differences between the measurement gas volume and the reference gas volume in order to carry out a calorimetric measurement of the sorption process on the sample in the sorption cell on the basis of a volume change of the reference gas in the measurement gas volume.
