GAIT MOTION ASSISTING APPARATUS

A gait motion assisting apparatus is provided, in which a thigh phase angle calculating unit has a latest data transmission process to transmit a thigh phase angle φ(k) at sampling timing S(k) (k is an integer of 1 or more) to a gait motion timing calculating unit and store the same as a reference thigh phase angle φc. Also, a stored data transmission process transmits, instead of the thigh phase angle φ(k), a currently stored reference thigh phase angle φc to the gait motion timing calculating unit and performs the stored data transmission process only when conditions are satisfied such that a thigh phase angle at one sampling timing is smaller than the currently stored reference thigh phase angle and an absolute value of a deviation therebetween is equal to or less than a predetermined threshold, and performs the latest data transmission process in other cases.

In a state where a drive unit is located on a lateral side of a joint(s) of a wearer wearing clothes and a communication unit and a frame unit are fixed and retained corresponding to the wearer's first and second body sites, respectively, a driving torque of an actuator according to movements of the wearer's joint is transmitted as an assist force to the first and second body sites without giving any physical burdens or hindrances in daily life to the wearer.

APPARATUS FOR MANAGEMENT OF A PARKINSON'S DISEASE PATIENT'S GAIT

A gait management apparatus applies stimulation to a user suffering from a neurological disease (such as Parkinson's Disease) gait dysfunction. Motion sensors are arranged to be worn by a patient, and electrical stimulation electrodes are on the legs for stimulation. A controller receives motion sensing signals, and processes these signals to generate stimulation signals for operation of the electrodes to stimulate limb movement upon detection of a gait abnormality. There may be a user actuator for user actuation of electrical stimulation, and the inputs may be a series of taps. The controller may provide signals to prevent occurrence of freezing of gait when it senses that a patient is walking or has an intention to walk. Also, it may apply stimulation at an intensity level which is insufficient for functional muscle stimulation but sufficiently high to trigger activation of efferent nerves.

A movement support device is provided, which early recognize a possibility of contact of a user with a moving body and perform an appropriate movement support operation according to the recognition. It is determined whether there is a possibility of contact of a vehicle with a white cane while maintaining a distance from the vehicle based on a relative position relationship with the vehicle, which is recognized by images from a camera, and a change thereof. When it is determined that there is a possibility of contact, the movement support operation is performed. Thus, the possibility of contact of the vehicle with the user can be early recognized, and when there is a possibility of contact, the movement support operation according to the actual situation can be immediately started, which results in an appropriate acquisition of a start timing of the movement support operation.

DEVICE, SYSTEM, AND METHOD TO CONTROL ACTIVATION AND CONFIGURATION OF PULSE DETECTION AND PULSE OXIMETRY MEASUREMENTS DURING CPR

A device, system, and method to control activation of oxygen saturation (SpO2) measurements in a cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) procedure. When compressions are present, only a PPG-based pulse detection algorithm is performed. When a spontaneous pulse has been detected and compressions are not detected during a predetermined time period, both a PPG-based pulse detection algorithm and an SpO2 measurement algorithm are performed. Depending on whether a chest compression is delivered manually or automatically, parameter selections for the compression detection algorithm, the PPG-based pulse detection algorithm, and the SpO2 measurement algorithm are adjusted accordingly.
