COLAPSIBLE NASAL EJECTING CATHETER
20190282443 · 2019-09-19 ·

A collapsible nasal ejecting catheter, made of thermoplastic elastomer or other soft and elastic material, can be operated by the patients to insert into their nasal cavity and nasopharynx. The catheter includes a catheter body and a connector. The catheter has a flat closed distal end, a transitional segment starting from the closed end to a circular appearance, a normal segment having a circular appearance, and an open end on the opposite side of the flat closed end. There are multiple side-holes near the closed end. This catheter, when adapted to a connector and further connected to a syringe, can eject multiple strong thin spouts within the nasal cavity and nasopharynx for cleansing mucus and crust. The maximum width of the transitional segment is not less than 1 mm, and the minimum wall thickness of the catheter is not larger than 0.45 mm. Due to the flat closed distal end and transitional segment of the catheter body and its flexibility, the catheter with a larger outer diameter can be smoothly inserted into the slit-like space, reaching a deep depth to produce a better flushing efficiency, and also avoiding accidental entry into the sinus.

THERAPEUTIC HANDHELD DEVICES FOR DISORDERS

A handheld device for applying mechanical vibration to a body portion of an individual to treat a dry eye condition of the individual, includes: a housing; a member having a first portion accommodated in the housing, and a second portion that is moveable relative to the housing, wherein the second portion is for placement outside the individual, and is configured to oscillate to apply the mechanical vibration to the body portion, the member having an elongated configuration; and a motor in the housing, the motor configured to oscillate the member at an oscillation frequency sufficient to induce tear production when the second portion of the member is applied towards a surface of the body portion.

TREATMENT METHODS USING HANDHELD DEVICES FOR DISORDERS

A method to treat a dry eye condition of an individual, includes: receiving a switch signal generated based on a manipulation of a control switch at a handheld device; and activating a motor in response to the switch signal to oscillate a member at an oscillation frequency, the member having an elongated configuration, and having a portion for placement outside the individual; wherein the oscillation frequency is sufficient to induce tear production when the portion of the member is applied towards a surface of a body portion of the individual.

HANDHELD DEVICE WITH MOTORIZED MEMBER FOR TREATMENT OF DISORDERS

A handheld device for applying mechanical vibration to a body portion of an individual to treat a condition of the individual, includes: a housing; a member having a portion that is moveable relative to the housing, wherein the portion of the member is configured to oscillate to apply the mechanical vibration to the body portion, the member having an elongated configuration; and a motor having a weight that is supported by the member.

HANDHELD DEVICE WITH VIBRATIONAL CANTILEVER MEMBER FOR TREATMENT OF DISORDERS

A handheld device for applying mechanical vibration to a body portion of an individual to treat a condition of the individual, includes: a housing; a cantilever beam having a first portion accommodated in the housing, and a second portion that is moveable relative to the housing, wherein the second portion is configured to apply the mechanical vibration to the body portion; and a motor in the housing, the motor configured to oscillate the second portion of the cantilever beam at an oscillation frequency.

THERAPEUTIC DEVICE FOR TREATMENT OF CONDITIONS RELATING TO THE SINUSES, NASAL CAVITIES, EAR, NOSE AND THROAT

A therapeutic device for treating conditions of a user's nasal cavities, sinuses, and/or ear canals includes a housing which the user may hold to apply the therapeutic device to the user, the housing including an inlet that allows air to enter the therapeutic device. An acoustic vibrator located within the housing provides an acoustic vibration to the user, and a power supply located within the housing provides power to the acoustic vibrator. A mask is connected to the housing and includes a nasal interface that is appliable around the nose of the user. A valve of the mask opens to allow the user to breathe through the inlet and closes to prevent the user from exhaling through the inlet. The mask further includes a diaphragm and a nasal cavity in which a user's nostrils are located when the nasal interface is applied to the user.

Nasal irrigation device and system with faux collapsible cartridge element

A nasal irrigation device communicates an irrigant to a device user and comprises a mechanics module and a reservoir assembly wherein a source of saline comprising a cartridge is disposed within the mechanics module adjacent a lid assembly for piercing the cartridge upon closing of a lid for releasing the cartridge contents into the reservoir assembly. A faux collapsible cartridge for testing operability of a nasal irrigation device comprises a housing including a shaft, a spring biased rod extending from the housing shaft, and a flange depending from a housing wall whereby the rod and flange are disposed to actuate a trigger assembly of the nasal irrigation device.

NASAL SPECIMEN COLLECTION SYSTEM

An apparatus for collecting a nasal specimen includes a device body with a nozzle at a distal end of the device body. The nozzle is configured to interface with a nasal cavity. The apparatus further includes an irrigation path and a collection path within the device body. The collection path may be separate from the irrigation path. The irrigation path is configured to direct a fluid from an irrigation chamber into the nasal cavity in order to dislodge a sample from the nasal cavity. When the fluid flows back out of the nasal cavity, the collection path is configured to direct at least a portion of the fluid and the sample dislodged from the nasal cavity into a collection chamber.
