A physical therapy device comprising a bench, having a seating surface and legs and a pair of horizontal supports positioned to either side of the knees of a person seated on the bench, a quick release securing device connected to each of the pair of supports, a rail connected to one of the quick release securing devices, a body pivotally attached to said rail, a foot rest attached to said rail and the foot rest and rail arranged to rotate with respect to said body about a pivot axis, the body having an adjustment mechanism to adjust the amount of force required to rotate the rail with respect to the body, wherein said body is repositionable between first and second positions, to provide physical therapy to the knee.

A method of electrically stimulating a target muscle of a patient includes placing an array of stimulation electrodes in electrical contact with the target muscle, applying an electrical stimulation signal to the array of stimulation electrodes, obtaining a signal from a sensing element placed on the patient, wherein the signal characterizes at least one biological parameter associated with contraction of the target muscle, and determining which stimulation electrodes optimize the efficacy of the electrical stimulation signal based on measurements from the stimulation electrodes and the sensing element.

The present patent document relates to automatic equipment for performing orthopedic and physiotherapeutic procedures for passive motion of the knee joint (patellofemoral and tibiofemoral), incorporating three motion units: knee flexion and extension motion unit; internal and external rotation motion unit of the knee; and a multidirectional patellar mobilization unit (lower-upper and medial-lateral), an external support for multidirectional patellar mobilizer and a control unit. The flexion and extension motion unit is comprised of a mechanical and electronic structure on which the leg rests during use thereof and has at least two supports for supporting the leg located in the back region of the thigh and in the back region of the leg (calf); the internal and external rotation motion unit of the knee is comprised of a structure with a support for the leg and a support for the foot region (sole region) coupled to a knee flexion and extension motion unit; and the multidirectional patellar mobilization unit is comprised of a receptacle on which a retainer and an actuating element are disposed.
