Device for detecting the replacement state of wear of a high-strength fiber rope during use in lifting gear
An arrangement for detecting the discard state of a high-strength fiber rope when used on such hoists, with a device for determining at least one rope parameter and an evaluation unit for evaluating the rope parameter, and providing a discard signal depending upon the evaluation of the rope parameter. The determination device comprises bending stiffness determination means for determining the bending stiffness of the rope, whereby the evaluation unit provides the discard signal depending on the determined bending stiffness of the rope.
Non-destructive evaluation of cordage products
A method for non-destructively estimating a current physical condition of a cordage product in-service is described. The method involves obtaining sensor data associated with the cordage product while in-service handling a load. The sensor data includes any combination of cordage product elongation data, applied load data, and diametric data. The method further includes determining an axial stiffness value associated with the cordage product based on the sensor data and estimating a health state of the cordage product based on the determined axial stiffness value. The estimated health state is indicative of the current physical condition of the cordage product.
Pre-strained composite test coupons
A composite test coupon includes a plurality of plies. The plurality of plies include first ply layers and second ply layers. The first ply layers have first fibers and a substantially uniform matrix material associated with the first fibers. The second ply layers have second fibers and a pre-stressed matrix material associated with the second fibers. The first fibers are oriented in a first direction, and the second fibers are oriented in a second direction that is different from the first direction. The pre-stressed matrix material includes stress induced cracks between the second fibers of each of the second ply layers.
DEVICES AND METHODS FOR TENSION MEASUREMENTS AND APPLICATIONS OF SAME
A device for measuring a tension of a bio-object construct as it is being stretched that includes a microscope, a holding member for accommodating the bio-object, and a probe. The microscope includes a condenser, an objective and a stage positioned therebetween. The stage is movable along a horizontal plane. The holding member is fixable on the stage. The probe has a first end attached to the condenser, and a second end placed in the holding member. The stage operably moves such that the bio-object construct moves toward the second end of the probe and contacts with the second end of the probe, thereby causing a displacement of the second end of the probe and a displacement of the bio-object construct, which are used to measure the tension of the bio-object construct.
Pretensioner system and methods
A device and methods for measuring the tension applied to a suture are disclosed. In one embodiment, the device comprises a housing comprising at least one attachment point for attachment of the suture, for the device to hang from the suture when a tension is applied to the suture. The device may also comprise a force sensing unit, contained in the housing and configured to measure the amount of tension applied to the suture.
METHOD FOR DETERMINING THE REPLACEMENT STATE OF WEAR OF A ROPE MADE OF A TEXTILE FIBRE MATERIAL
The invention relates to a method for determining the replacement state of wear of a rope made of a textile fibre material, wherein, in the course of using the rope, the elongation of the rope is monitored over its entire length and the rope is discarded if the elongation of the rope over the entire length exceeds a predetermined maximum value (%). The method according to the invention is characterized in that also the local elongation of a discrete rope section is monitored and the rope is discarded if the local elongation of the rope section exceeds a predetermined maximum value (%), with the maximum value of the local elongation of the rope section being greater than the maximum value of the elongation of the rope over the entire length.
