In one aspect, a combinatorial drug delivery device is provided herein including: a plurality of serially connectable modules, each including at least one drug component; and, a master controller having a computing processing unit. Each of the modules includes: a non-transitory memory having stored therein an address and an alphanumeric code representative of the at least one drug component contained in the corresponding drug module; a secondary controller operatively linked to the memory of the corresponding module; and, at least one communication bus connectable in series with the communication buses of the modules serially connected with the corresponding module. The master controller is configured to serially interrogate the secondary controllers over the serially-connected communication buses, using the addresses, to request the codes of the corresponding modules. Advantageously, the subject invention provides for a system to confirm the accuracy of drugs provided with the device and the correct sequencing thereof.

SYSTEM FOR DETERMINING ACCURACY OF SERIALLY-CONNECTED DRUG MODULES IN A COMBINATORIAL DRUG DELIVERY DEVICE USING VOLTAGE

A combinatorial drug delivery device is provided herein including: a plurality of serially connectable modules, each including at least one drug component; and, a master controller. Each of the modules includes: a power line; a ground line; a multiplexer having a plurality of identified input channels, at least a subset of the input channels being selectively connected to one of the power and ground lines; a first digital logic line configured to select the input channels; a voltage reference line having a first resistor in line with an output of the multiplexer; a branch line connected to the voltage reference line having a normally closed switch thereon to connect the branch line to the ground line, the switch being opened with connection to a further module. The master controller selects, in sequence, the same identified input channels across all of the modules with measuring a reference voltage thereacross.

RECIPROCATING MIXING AND INJECTOR SYSTEM

A reciprocating medicament mixing and injector system, where the energy provided to transfer medicament components back and forth between containers or cartridges can be redirected to deliver the mixed medicament components. In one embodiment the energy source is a pressurized gas chamber, in another, it is constant force spring, and in another it is a compression spring.

MEDICAL PACKAGING IN THE FORM OF AN INFUSION BAG AND METHOD FOR TRANSFERRING LIQUID FROM A VIAL TO AN INFUSION BAG

The invention relates to a packaging in the form of an infusion bag, having a connector for a vial, said connector having a spike for piercing the septum of the vial to establish a fluid connection to the inner volume of the infusion bag. The spike is designed to be rotatable. When the vial is rotated, the spike is rotated and the fluid connection between the vial and the inner volume of the infusion bag is opened.

MEDICATION ERROR DETECTION SYSTEM

Various embodiments are provided herein for checking proper inclusion and sequencing of drug modules in a combinatorial drug delivery device.

ALTERNATIVE FLUIDIC PATHING FOR SERIALLY CONNECTABLE DRUG MODULES

Various embodiments are disclosed herein related to fluidic connections for modules useable in combinatorial drug delivery devices. The fluidic connections allow for variable flow paths to be defined for serially-connected, and base-tray mounted, modules.

Systems, methods, and components for transferring medical fluids

An example of an electronic medical fluid transfer device can comprise a fluid transfer module with a multidirectional flow control valve and an intermediate container or pumping region, a sensor configured to detect whether at least one of a vacuum or gas is present in the fluid transfer module, a first electromechanical driver configured to interface with and control the multidirectional flow control valve on the fluid transfer module, a second electromechanical driver configured to be mechanically linked to and control the intermediate container or pumping region according to an operational parameter, and one or more computer processors configured to communicate electronically with the sensor and the first and second electromechanical drivers to determine the operational parameter based on a flow characteristic of medical fluid to be transferred and adjust the operational parameter based on output of the sensor.

PISTON VALVING FOR SERIALLY CONNECTABLE DRUG MODULES OF A COMBINATORIAL DRUG DELIVERY DEVICE

A valving arrangement is provided herein for regulating fluidics of modules usable in a combinatorial drug delivery device. The valving includes a slidable piston valve, adjustable to selectively seal an outlet path from a drug vial and a sealing port, in parallel to a vent, for selectively sealing an inlet path to the drug vial. Advantageously, the subject invention allows for applied negative pressure to adjust the valving to allow flow between serially-connected modules forming a drug delivery device.

Multi chamber flexible bag and methods of using same

A method of preparing a pharmaceutical product in a single multiple chamber flexible bag. A pharmaceutical product is introduced in a liquid state into a first chamber of the flexible bag through a first port. The pharmaceutical product is lyophilized within the first chamber of the flexible bag to provide a lyophilized pharmaceutical product. The flexible bag has a second chamber and the first chamber and the second chamber are separated by a breakable seal. The second chamber further includes a reconstituting solution for reconstituting the lyophilized pharmaceutical product in the first chamber. A user may apply pressure to the flexible bag to break the seal and mix the lyophilized pharmaceutical product and the reconstituting solution to order to administer the pharmaceutical product to a patient.
