Display system and method using weather radar sensing
An enhanced vision method uses or an enhanced vision system includes an onboard weather radar system configured to improve angular resolution and/or resolution in range. The onboard weather radar system generates image data representative of the external scene topography of a runway environment associated with radar returns received by the onboard weather radar system. The radar returns are in an X-band or a C-band. The enhanced vision system also includes a display in communication with the onboard weather radar system and is configured to display an image associated with the image data that is generated by the onboard weather radar system. The enhanced vision system can also be used as an enhanced flight vision system.

Mixed aspect graphic for neighboring fields of view
A system and method for rendering near range weather information in a first aspect and mid-to-long range weather information in a second aspect includes transforming the mid-to-long range weather information to preserve certain relationships between the near range rendering and the mid-to-long range rendering while compressing distances to fit both renderings on a single display. Criticality metrics are maintained for the compressed mid-to-long range rendering by identifying the most critical weather indicator and applying it to the compressed weather cell rendering.
THREAT COUNTERMEASURE ASSISTANCE SYSTEM
Some embodiments include a countermeasure assistance system that, in response to detecting a threat to an aircraft, calculates and presents via a user interface an instruction to assist a pilot in evading the threat. For example, the system may determine a direction to which the aircraft should be turned to present a beam of the aircraft toward the threat, which may assist in evading a radar-enabled threat. The system may calculate a shortest turn to present the beam to the threat. The system may additionally display information regarding a position, nature, and degree of the threat, including through formatting of at least a portion of a user interface for displaying information regarding the threat. The system may additionally calculate and display an intervisibility zone for the threat and for the aircraft's current position to further assist the pilot in navigating to an area at which the threat may be evaded.
RADAR APPARATUS AND METHOD OF CONTROLLING TRANSMISSION SIGNAL
Provided is a radar apparatus capable of suitably transmitting a transmission signal according to a target object existing around the radar apparatus, and suitably displaying one of the target object therearound, a response signal of a radar beacon etc. The radar apparatus includes a determiner configured to determine one of a target object and an area, an angular range setter configured to set an angular range centering on the position of the radar apparatus to include the one of the target object and the area determined by the determiner, and a transmission signal controller configured to change a waveform of the transmission signal to be different between a direction within the angular range and a direction outside the angular range.
METHOD AND DEVICE FOR DISPLAYING INFORMATION
An information display device (100) is provided, which includes a distance setting module (20) configured to set a distance, a closest approach position estimating module (32) configured to estimate a closest approach position (Psa, Psb) of a first ship (S) and a closest approach position (Pa, Pb) of a second ship (Ea, Eb) at a time point when the first and second ships (S, Ea, Eb) approach each other the closest, based on navigational information of the ships (S, Ea, Eb), and a display controlling module (35) configured to cause a display screen to display the estimated closest approach position (Pa, Pb) of the second ship (Ea, Eb), a risk area (Aa, Ab), and current positions of the ships (S, Ea, Eb), the risk area (Aa, Ab) formed into a circle based on the set distance, centering on the estimated closest approach position (Psa, Psb) of the first ship (S).
Image processing device, radar apparatus, image processing method and image processing program
An image processing device which generates an image where a target object can be discriminated from an object other than the target object. An image processor (15), for echo signals read from a sweep memory (14), calculates a ratio of echo signals indicating a predetermined level or higher among the echo signals of a predetermined number of samples, and generates image data having a display element according to the calculated ratio. This ratio indicates a lower value for an object more isolated and a higher value for an object existing as a larger mass. The image processor (15)acquires color values according to the calculated ratio. Since the target object, such as a ship, is an isolated object and the ratio becomes low, the color values indicate red, and since inland is an object existing as a large mass and the ratio becomes high, the color values indicate green.
