METHOD, SYSTEM AND APPARATUS FOR CONTROLLING PATIENT ACCESS TO MEDICAMENTS
20220336075 · 2022-10-20 ·

Methods, systems and apparatuses are provided for controlling and tracking patient access to medicaments. A patient is provided with medication in locked pill containers that must be unlocked before the patient can access medication. The patient is forced through an interactive session periodically with a master system, via a communicative intermediary, in order to obtain a valid passcode for each batch of medications. The patient may be assessed during each interaction with the master system. That assessment may include questions about status codes displayed on each medication container. These status codes may encode detail about the patient's pattern of accessing medication. A rate of medication usage can also be deduced from the rate at which the patient contacts the master system. After patient assessment, the master system may elect to not provide the patient with an access code, such as if the assessment indicates overuse of the medication.

20170354573 · 2017-12-14 ·

A portable pill dispenser device mountable with one or more pill cartridges that dispense pills by winding a pill strip that encloses pills between flexible films. The pills are enclosed in the pill strip and are released as the films of the pill strip are separated. The pill dispense device include actuators (e.g., motors) that cause winding cylinders in each of the pill cartridges to rotate, causing the pill strip to move towards an opening of each pill cartridge, separate the films of the pill strip, and release the pills through the opening. Indicia may be marked on at least one of the films to enable detection of the moving distance of the pill strip. The pill dispense device includes a sensor for detecting the indicia so that the movement of the films and release of the pills can be tightly controlled.

A system for monitoring access to a contained medication is disclosed. The system includes a server configured to store user information for each of a plurality of registered users. The system also includes a smart container configured to hold a medication. The smart container includes a processor configured to (a) detect a user device of a user in possession of the smart container, (b) determine if the user device is associated with one of the registered users, and (c) if the determination is affirmative, manage a user session with the user device and transmit one or more session messages to the server. The server is configured to store a transaction corresponding to each of the session messages to thereby create a transaction history for the smart container.

Medication management and reporting technology

Medication management and reporting technology, in which output from at least one sensor configured to sense physical activity in a building in which medication of a patient is located is monitored and a determination is made to capture one or more images of the medication based on the monitoring. A camera is used to capture an image of the medication and the captured image is analyzed to detect a state of the medication. Information regarding a schedule by which the medication should be taken by the patient is accessed and an expected state of the medication is determined. The detected state is compared with the expected state and a determination is made that the patient has departed from the schedule based on the comparison revealing that the detected state does not match the expected state. A message indicating the departure from the schedule is sent based on the determination.

Medication-dispensing system and method

A system for dispensing a prescription medication in a controlled manner is disclosed. The system may include a prescription vial and a corresponding programmable cap. The cap may include an outer cover having an exit aperture, an inner cover having an entrance aperture, and a transport portion having a chute. The cap may also include a control system having a processor. In accordance with a schedule prescribed by a medical professional and programmed into the control system, the control system may dispense medication by moving the chute of the transport portion out of alignment with the entrance aperture and into alignment with the exit aperture.
