OPTICAL SCANNER

The present invention relates to a scanner provided with a vibratory beam on or in which is formed a phased array intended to extract according to either one of two parallel faces of the beam a light radiation that could be emitted by a light source.

OPTICAL SCANNER

The present invention relates to a scanner provided with a plurality of elementary scanners each able to scan a different surface by means of a light beam.

In this regard, each elementary scanner comprises a beam, for example a vibrating beam, on or in which a phase-controlled array is formed, intended to extract, at a face of the beam, a light beam able to be emitted by a light source. According to the present invention, at least one beam of one of the elementary scanners, referred to as the first scanner, has, at rest, a deflection different from that of the beams of the other elementary scanners. This arrangement enables the first scanner to scan a surface, referred to the first surface, different from that scanned by the other elementary scanners.

In other words, the optical scanner according to the present invention makes it possible to cover a relatively large surface while keeping appreciable compactness.

Method and Apparatus for Measuring Optical Pulses

A pulse analysis system or method includes a frequency filter that receives an ultrafast pulse under test and disperses the pulse under test over a frequency range. The frequency filter separates the pulse under test into component frequency slices and provides the frequency slices to a detector coupled to a digitizer, which processes the digitized signal and collects a sonogram characteristic of the pulse under test. The frequency slices are arranged to overlap. Ptychography is performed on the sonogram to obtain characteristics of the pulse under test.

Systems and Methods for Wavelength Locking in Optical Sensing Systems

Disclosed herein is an integrated photonics device including a frequency stabilization subsystem for monitoring and/or adjusting the wavelength of light emitted by one or more light sources. The device can include one or more selectors that can combine, select, and/or filter light along one or more light paths, which can include light emitted by a plurality of light sources. Example selectors may include, but are not limited to, an arrayed waveguide grating (AWG), a ring resonator, a plurality of distributed Bragg reflectors (DBRs), a plurality of filters, and the like. Output light paths from the selector(s) can be input into one or more detector(s). The detector(s) can receive the light along the light paths and can generate one or more signals as output signal(s) from the frequency stabilization subsystem. A controller can monitor the wavelength and can adjust or generate control signal(s) for the one or more light sources to lock the monitored wavelength to a target wavelength (or within a targeted range of wavelengths).

ELECTROMAGNETIC WAVE CONCENTRATION

A device for concentrating an electromagnetic wave includes a waveguide array that includes a central waveguide having a first refractive index and a central axis and feeder waveguides disposed around the central waveguide. Each feeder waveguide has a second refractive index. The waveguide array also includes a support structure coupled to the waveguide arrays and configured to, in a deployed configuration, retain the feeder waveguides of the waveguide array in a substantially symmetric arrangement with respect to the central waveguide to enable concentration of an electromagnetic wave of a particular wavelength in the central waveguide via electromagnetic coupling of the central waveguide with each of the feeder waveguides, with the respective axis of each feeder waveguide oriented substantially parallel to the central axis of the central waveguide and with each feeder waveguide spaced apart from the central waveguide by a distance that is based on the particular wavelength.

LIGHT SOURCE APPARATUS

A light source apparatus generates wavelength scanning light. A pulsed light source generates pulsed light including a continuous spectrum. An optical divider spatially divides the broadband pulsed light L into a plurality of n (n≥2) beams according to wavelengths. A plurality of n fibers give different delays to the n beams. The coupler multiplexes n beams output from the n fibers. In the light source apparatus, at least a part from an incident end of the optical divider to emission ends of the n fibers has a continuous waveguide structure. A light monitoring device extracts and measures part of light propagating through the continuous waveguide structure.

Optical telecommunication receivers and transmitters are described comprising dispersive elements and adjustable beam steering elements that are combined to provide optical grid tracking to adjust with very low power consumption to variations in the optical grid due to various changes, such as temperature fluctuations, age or other environmental or design changes. Thus, high bandwidth transmitters or receivers can be provides with low power consumption and/or low cost designs.

Magnonic electromagnetic radiation sources with high output power at high frequencies

Acoustically mediated pulsed radiation sources, phased arrays incorporating the radiation sources, and methods of using the radiation sources and phased arrays to generate electromagnetic radiation via magnetic dipole emission are provided. The radiation sources are based on a superlattice heterostructure that supports in-phase magnetic dipole emission from a series of magnetic insulator layers disposed along the length of the heterostructure.
