Fiber optic connectors and connectorization employing adhesive admitting adapters
Fiber optic connectors, connector housings, connectorized cable assemblies, and methods for the connectorization of cable assemblies are provided with particular cable adapter features, adapter extensions, multi-diametrical sealing flexures, subcutaneous sealing elements, and combinations thereof, for improved connector and cable performance, integrity, and durability.
REDUCED-PROFILE DATE TRANSMISSION ELEMENT CONNECTORS, ADAPTERS, AND CONNECTION ASSEMBLIES THEREOF
Reduced-profile connection components are described. The reduced-profile connection components are configured to connect various data transmission elements, including cables, network devices, and computing devices. A non-limiting example of a connection component includes a fiber optic connection component, including connectors, adapters, and assemblies formed therefrom. In some embodiments, the connection components may include mechanical transfer (MT) and multi-fiber push-on/pull-off (MPO) connection components, such as MT ferrules and MPO adapters. The reduced-profile connection components configured according to some embodiments have a smaller profile and/or require less parts to achieve a connection compared to conventional connection components. In some embodiments, the reduced-profile connection components may be used with conventional connection components. For example a reduced-profile connector may use a conventional MT ferrule to establish a connection within a conventional MPO adapter.
ULTRA-SMALL FORM FACTOR OPTICAL CONNECTORS USED AS PART OF A RECONFIGURABLE OUTER HOUSING
An optical connector holding one or more optical ferrule assembly is provided. The optical connector includes an outer body, an inner front body accommodating the one or more optical ferrule assembly, ferrule springs for urging the optical ferrules towards a mating receptacle, and a back body for supporting the ferrule springs. The outer body and the inner front body are configured such that four optical ferrule assembly are accommodated in a small form-factor pluggable (SFP) transceiver footprint or eight optical ferrule assembly are accommodated in a quad small form-factor pluggable (QSFP) transceiver footprint. A receptacle can hold one or more connector inner bodies forming a single boot for all the optical fibers of the inner bodies.
FIBER OPTICAL CONNECTOR WITH CABLE RETENTION FEATURE
A fiber optic connector includes a ferrule holder configured to receive a ferrule that terminates an optical fiber cable, a connector sub-assembly configured to receive an optical fiber cable and to hold the ferrule holder, a connector body configured to hold the connector sub-assembly, a shroud configured to encircle the connector body, and a housing configured to encircle a portion of the shroud. The connector body is configured to include a first mating member and a second mating member. The first mating member is configured to include a cantilevered flange, and the second mating member is configured to include a groove on an inner surface of the second mating member. The cantilevered flange is configured to engage with the groove to securely fasten the first mating member with the second mating member.
Multiports and other devices having keyed connection ports and securing features and methods of making the same
Devices such as multiports comprising connection ports with associated securing features and methods for making the same are disclosed. In one embodiment, the device comprises a shell, at least one connection port, at least one securing feature passageway, and at least one securing feature. The at least one connection port is disposed on the multiport with the at least one connection port comprising an optical connector opening extending from an outer surface of the multiport to a cavity of the multiport and defining a connection port passageway. The connection port passageway defines a keying portion. The at least one securing feature is associated with the connection port passageway, and the at least one securing feature is disposed within a portion of the at least one securing feature passageway.
MULTI-CORE OPTICAL CONNECTOR AND OPTICAL CABLE CONNECTION METHOD
An object is to provide a multifiber optical connector and an optical cable connection method capable of reducing a connection time and reducing an installation space of a connection portion. The multifiber optical connector according to the present invention includes three position adjustment units, and performs rough alignment to fine alignment of optical fiber end faces by using sequentially these position adjustment units when optical cables are connected. The multifiber optical connector simultaneously connects the end faces of the plurality of optical fibers included in the optical cables, and thus, an extra optical fiber tape is not present, and a closure needed in the related art is not necessary.
System for protecting an optical system
According to an example aspect of the present invention, there is provided a system for protecting an optical system, the system comprising a hollow first part having at least one first opening, a hollow second part arranged at least partially within the first part, and a coupling section configured to be coupled to the optical system, wherein the system is configured to guide at least a part of an incoming air flow from the at least one first opening along a flow channel between an inner surface of the first part and an outer surface of the second part.
Exchangeable optic fiber connector assembly
An exchangeable optic fiber connector assembly, including a pair of optic fiber connectors and a switching structure, is provided. Each optic fiber connector has a first locking portion and a first stopping portion. The switching structure has a pair of guiding slots. The optic fiber connectors respectively pass through the guiding slots to be movable and rotatable along the corresponding guiding slots. The switching structure further has a plurality of second locking portions and a plurality of second stopping portions disposed at two opposite ends of each guiding slot. Each optic fiber connector is locked with one of the second locking portions through the first locking portion, and the second stopping portion next to the locked second locking portion is located on a moving path of the first stopping portion.
COMPACT FIBER OPTIC CONNECTORS, CABLE ASSEMBLIES AND METHODS OF MAKING THE SAME
Fiber optic connectors, cable assemblies and methods for making the same are disclosed. In one embodiment, the optical connector comprises a housing and a ferrule. The housing comprises a longitudinal passageway between a rear end and a front end, and, a part of the rear portion of the housing comprises a round cross-section and a part of the front portion of the housing comprises a non-round cross-section with a transition region disposed between the rear portion and the front portion.
