Armored cable and connection for the same
A connection arrangement is provided for connecting an armored cable to a connection piece. The arrangement has a ferrule for fitting onto the end of the armored cable, that has an abutment flange, a washer and a threaded region. The threaded region has at least a portion threaded according to a first thread standard. A lock nut is configured to fit over the armored cable, and to connect with a nut thread on the connection piece. The lock nut and the connection piece are configured to compress the ferrule therebetween forming a watertight connection. An armor of the armored cable has a least a portion of the armor threaded to match the first thread standard.
Submarine optical transmission apparatus and submarine optical communication system
An object to provide a submarine optical transmission apparatus capable of efficiently housing optical components and electric components. A submarine optical transmission apparatus includes a case, an electric component housing unit, and an optical component housing unit. The electric component housing unit and the optical component housing unit can house either or both of an optical component and an electric component and are stacked in a Z-direction. The case can house the electric component housing unit and the optical component housing unit that are stacked, and a longitudinal direction thereof is an X-direction.
Cable entry sealing systems for telecommunication enclosures
A cable entry sealing system includes a housing having a first housing end and a second housing end; a sealing and shielding member having a portion insertable into the housing, the sealing and shielding member comprising: a plug portion and a medial sealing portion, extending from the plug portion. The medial sealing portion includes a first raised edge, a lip sealing portion extending outwardly from the first raised edge, and a medial body section having a second raised edge. The system further includes an end sealing portion, extending from the medial portion, and at least one compression member coupled to the end sealing portion. The sealing and shielding member is configured to prevent contamination into the cable entry sealing system and distortion of the at least one compression member.
SEALING ENCLOSURE FOR A CONNECTOR ON A CABLE SUCH AS A STANDARDIZED FIBER-OPTIC CONNECTOR
A sealing enclosure is configured to connect to a mating enclosure. The sealing enclosure loosely receives a connector within a connector volume so that the connector, which may be of a standard type used in electronic or optic data transmission, may be displaced within a plug face at the forward end of the connector volume. The connector may compensate variations in the position of a mating connector with respect to the mating enclosure. The sealing enclosure allows to seal off the connector volume and engage the sealing enclosure with a mating enclosure in a single motion. This is affected by having a cable seal interposed between an inner body and an outer body. If the outer body is moved forward to engage the mating connector, the cable seal is squeezed between the cable and the inner body sealing off the connector volume at the rearward end of the inner body.
Armored cable and connection for the same
An adapter ferrule is provided configured to connect between a connector and an armored cable. The connector has a connection piece, a nut thread, a lock nut, and a ferrule, the ferrule having at least a threaded region of a first thread standard. The armored cable has a second thread standard different from the first thread standard. The adapter ferrule has a small block and a large block. The small block has an internal threading matching the second thread standard of the armor, the outer dimension of which fits within the threaded region of the ferrule. The large block has a recessed thread configured to fit over the outside of the threaded region of the ferrule, the recessed thread having the same thread standard as the threaded region of the ferrule.
Pressure pass-through apparatus, and method for making such
An apparatus is provided which comprises pressure pass-thru means, which includes: an optic fiber having a first end and a second end; a first connector coupled to the first end; a second connector coupled to the second end; a housing between the first and second ends, wherein the housing covers a portion of the optic fiber, wherein a portion of the optic fiber in the housing is bare; a filing material inside the housing; and a swaged gland fitting on the housing to secure the apparatus to a pressure boundary.
