An improved overcoat layer for an organic photoconductor drum used in an electrophotographic image forming device is provided. The overcoat layer is prepared from a curable composition including a charge transport molecule containing four radical polymerizable hydrophilic functional groups containing an oxygen atom of the general structure shown below: ##STR00001##
wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 contain a spacer group and a radical polymerizable hydrophilic functional group containing an oxygen atom, R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 are a non-radical polymerizable functional group, and R.sub.5 and R.sub.6 contain a spacer group and a radical polymerizable hydrophilic functional group containing an oxygen atom. The curable composition may also contain at least one optional curing agent. This overcoat layer improves wear resistance of the organic photoconductor drum without negatively altering the electrophotographic properties, thus protecting the organic photoconductor drum from damage and extending its service life.

Provided is an electrophotographic photosensitive member that can achieve both of satisfactory wear resistance and the suppression of an image streak at the time of its repeated use. The electrophotographic photosensitive member includes a support and a photosensitive layer. The surface layer of the electrophotographic photosensitive member contains: a polymer of a hole-transportable compound having a chain-polymerizable functional group; and an ester compound having specific alkyl groups.
IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS AND PROCESS CARTRIDGE
An image forming apparatus includes an electrophotographic photoreceptor including a conductive substrate, an undercoat layer containing a binder resin and metal oxide particles, disposed on the conductive substrate, and a photosensitive layer disposed on the undercoat layer; a charging unit that charges a surface of the electrophotographic photoreceptor; an electrostatic latent image-forming unit forming an electrostatic latent image on the charged surface of the electrophotographic photoreceptor; a developing unit developing the electrostatic latent image on the surface of the electrophotographic photoreceptor by using a developer containing a toner to form a toner image; and a transfer unit that transfers the toner image onto a surface of a transfer-receiving member, but not including a charge erasing member that erases charges on the surface of the electrophotographic photoreceptor. The photosensitive layer formed is 3.8% or more and 17% or less to a carbon element abundance determined by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy.
IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS AND PROCESS CARTRIDGE
An image forming apparatus includes a toner image forming device that includes a photoreceptor and forms a toner image on a surface of the photoreceptor, the photoreceptor having an outermost surface layer that contains polytetrafluoroethylene particles and a dispersant containing fluorine atoms and has a perfluorooctanoic acid content of 25 ppb or less relative to the polytetrafluoroethylene particles; and a transfer device that includes an intermediate transfer body having a hexadecane contact angle of 30 degrees or more at a surface and transfers a toner image on the surface of the photoreceptor onto a recording medium via the intermediate transfer body.
Image forming apparatus
An image forming apparatus includes an image carrier that includes a conductive substrate, and a photosensitive layer and a surface protection layer; a developing device that includes an electrostatic image developer containing a toner, and develops the electrostatic image to form a toner image. The toner contains an amorphous polyester resin and has a weight average molecular weight Mw in a range of from 25,000 to 60,000, and a ratio of the weight average molecular weight Mw to a number average molecular weight Mn (Mw/Mn) is in a range of from 5 to 10. In the toner, a ratio of an absorbance for a wavelength of 1500 cm.sup.1 to an absorbance for a wavelength of 720 cm.sup.1 is 0.6 or less, and a ratio of an absorbance for a wavelength of 820 cm.sup.1 to the absorbance for a wavelength of 720 cm.sup.1 is 0.4 or less.
