Image forming apparatus having rubbing member in contact with image bearing member
An image forming apparatus includes an image bearing member, a charging member, an exposing device, a developing device, a transfer member, and a rubbing member. The image bearing member includes a plurality of recess portions on a surface thereof. The rubbing member is configured to come into contact with the image bearing member to form a rubbing nip portion between the rubbing member and the image bearing member. The recess portions each have an opening portion whose maximum length in the rotational direction is 20 m to 120 m. When a linear speed of the image bearing member in the rubbing nip portion is S1 and a linear speed of the rubbing member in the same direction as the linear speed of the image bearing member in the rubbing nip portion is S2, a relationship of a linear speed ratio of S2/S1<1.0 is satisfied.

Photoconductor having protective overcoat layer with a charge transport molecule with four radical polymerizable hydrophilic functional groups containing an oxygen atom and method of making the same
A method to make an improved organic photoconductor drum of an electrophotographic image forming device is provided. The improved organic photoconductor drum is prepared using a curable composition including a charge transport molecule containing four radical polymerizable functional groups containing an oxygen atom of the general structure shown below: ##STR00001##
wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 contain a spacer group and a radical polymerizable hydrophilic functional group containing an oxygen atom, R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 are a non-radical polymerizable functional group, and R.sub.5 and R.sub.6 contain a spacer group and a radical polymerizable hydrophilic functional group containing an oxygen atom. The curable composition may also contain at least one optional curing agent.
Photoconductor having protective overcoat layer with a charge transport molecule with four radical polymerizable hydrophilic functional groups containing an oxygen atom and method of making the same
An improved organic photoconductor drum used in an electrophotographic image forming device and method to make the same is provided. The organic photoconductor drum contains a protective overcoat. The protective overcoat is prepared from a curable composition including a charge transport molecule containing four radical polymerizable hydrophilic functional groups containing an oxygen atom of the general structure shown below: ##STR00001##
where R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 contain a spacer group and a radical polymerizable hydrophilic functional group containing an oxygen atom, R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 are a non-radical polymerizable functional group, and R.sub.5 and R.sub.6 contain a spacer group and a radical polymerizable hydrophilic functional group containing an oxygen atom. The curable composition may also contain at least one curing agent. This organic photoconductor drum has excellent wear resistance without negatively altering the electrophotographic properties, thus protecting the organic photoconductor drum from damage and extending its service life.
OVERCOAT FOR A PHOTOCONDUCTOR WITH TETRAFUNCTIONAL RADICAL POLYMERIZABLE CHARGE TRANSPORT MOLECULE HAVING HYDROGEN
An overcoat layer for an organic photoconductor drum includes a curable composition having about 20 to about 80 percent by weight of a charge transport molecule containing four radical polymerizable functional groups as exemplified below:

where R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 contain a spacer group and a radical polymerizable functional group, R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 are hydrogen atoms, and R.sub.5 and R.sub.6 contain a spacer group and a radical polymerizable functional group. The curable composition may also include a non-radical polymerizable additive, such as a surfactant, and/or a curing agent.
PHOTOCONDUCTOR HAVING AN OVERCOAT WITH TETRAFUNCTIONAL RADICAL POLYERMIZABLE CHARGE TRANSPORT MOLECULE AND NON-RADICAL POLYMERIZABLE ADDITIVE
An organic photoconductor drum includes a support element, a charge generation layer over the support element, a charge transport layer over the charge generation layer, and an overcoat layer. The overcoat layer includes a curable composition having both a non-radical polymerizable additive and a charge transport molecule containing four radical polymerizable functional groups exemplified as:

where R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 contain a spacer group and a radical polymerizable functional group, R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 are hydrogen atoms, and R.sub.5 and R.sub.6 contain a spacer group and a radical polymerizable functional group wherein the spacer group of R.sub.1, R.sub.2, R.sub.5, and R.sub.6, is an ethyl group and the radical polymerizable functional group of R.sub.1, R.sub.2, R.sub.5 and R.sub.6 is an acrylate group. The non-radical polymerizable additive may be a surfactant. The curable composition may also include a curing agent.
CHARGE TRANSPORT MOLECULE HAVING HYDROGEN FOR AN OVERCOAT OF A PHOTOCONDUCTOR
A charge transport molecule contains four radical polymerizable functional groups of the general structure exemplified below:

where R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 contain a spacer group and a radical polymerizable functional group, R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 are hydrogen atoms, and R.sub.5 and R.sub.6 contain a spacer group and a radical polymerizable functional group wherein the spacer group of R.sub.1, R.sub.2, R.sub.5 and R.sub.6 is an ethyl group and the radical polymerizable functional group of R.sub.1, R.sub.2, R.sub.5 and R.sub.6 is an acrylate group.
IMAGE BEARING MEMBER FOR ELECTROPHOTOGRAPHY
An object of the present invention is to provide an image bearing member for electrophotography. The image bearing member has high mechanical properties which include abrasion resistance and scratch resistance, is excellent in toner releasability, and is capable of retaining these features. The present invention provides an image bearing member for electrophotography, which includes a surface layer, the surface layer being composed of a polymerization-cured product of a composition containing a polymerizable monomer and surface-treated metal oxide particles, and the surface-treated metal oxide particles are metal oxide particles surface-treated with a surface treating agent having a silicone side chain.
ORGANIC ELECTROLUMINESCENT DEVICE
An organic electroluminescent device includes an anode and a cathode that are a pair of electrodes, at least one of the electrodes being transparent or translucent; and an organic compound layer interposed between the electrodes, the organic compound layer including at least one layer containing a cured film obtained from a composition that contains an amine compound having six or more crosslinkable groups. The cured film has a residual film ratio of 90% or more after a condition described below, and a rate of change in surface roughness Ra of the cured film before and after the condition described below is 0.99 or more: condition: placing toluene on the cured film and leaving toluene thereon for 30 seconds.
Method to make a photoconductor having an overcoat with tetrafunctional radical polymerizable charge transport molecule
A charge transport molecule containing four radical polymerizable functional groups used in an overcoat for an organic photoconductor drum of an electrophotographic image forming device is provided. where R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 contain a spacer group and a radical polymerizable functional group, R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 are selected from the group consisting of a radical polymerizable functional group, a non-radical polymerizable functional group, and one each of a radical polymerizable functional group and a non-radial polymerizable functional group, and R.sub.5 and R.sub.6 contain a spacer group and a radical polymerizable functional group.
