An image forming apparatus includes first and second rotating members, a setting unit, and first and second image forming units. The first rotating member rotates at a first period T1. The second rotating member rotates at a second period T2. The setting unit sets the first period T1 and the second period T2 so that T1 and T2 meet a relation T2=(n+0.5)T1 (n is a positive integer). The first image forming unit forms a first image on the second rotating member in an x-th rotation (x is a positive integer) using first data obtained from print data and using the first rotating member. The second image forming unit forms a second image on the second rotating member in an (x+y)-th rotation (y is an odd positive integer) using second data obtained from the print data and using the first rotating member.

Electrophotographic image forming apparatus, developing apparatus, and coupling member
An electrophotographic image forming apparatus comprises a main assembly that includes moving force applying portion, a main assembly engaging portion having a driving shaft and a rotational force applying portion provided on the driving shaft, and an electrophotographic photosensitive drum. A cartridge is dismountable from the main assembly without dismounting the electrophotographic photosensitive drum from the main assembly. The cartridge includes a developing roller for developing a latent image formed on the electrophotographic photosensitive drum, a rotatable member for transmitting a rotational force to the developing roller, and a coupling member including a rotational force receiving portion engageable with the rotational force applying portion to receive a rotational force from the main assembly engaging portion, and a rotational force transmitting portion for transmitting the rotational force to the rotatable member. The cartridge also includes a frame including a moving force receiving portion that receives a moving force from the moving force applying portion, the frame supporting the developing roller and the rotatable member.
IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS
An image forming apparatus includes a developing unit including a developing roller and a storage frame having a storage portion, a toner cartridge, a drive source, a moving member configured to be moved in a movement direction, and a drive transmission mechanism configured to transmit the driving force from the drive source to the moving member. The moving member includes a first force receiving portion and a second force receiving portion. The toner cartridge is detachably attached to the moving member. The moving member is movable in the movement direction between a first position in which detachment of the toner cartridge from the moving member is allowed and a second position in which supply of the toner from the toner cartridge to the developing unit is allowed.

An image forming apparatus includes (i) a development unit including a development frame including a development opening, a toner regulating portion configured to move to a cover position where the toner regulating portion covers the development opening and a retraction position where the toner regulating portion is retracted from the cover position, (ii) a rotary supporting the development unit, and (iii) a toner cartridge attachable to and detachable from the rotary and including a toner frame including a discharge port. In a case where the rotary is in a first posture, the development opening is in a position above the discharge port, and the toner regulating portion is in the cover position. In a case where the rotary is in a second posture, the development opening is in a position below the discharge port, and the toner regulating portion is in the retraction position.
Image forming apparatus having detachable toner cartridges
An image forming apparatus includes a rotatable rotary including a developing roller and a storage frame including a storage portion to store toner, a body frame with an opening, a toner cartridge which is attachable to and detachable from the rotary through the opening, which is movable to an attached position and a retracted position, a moving device to move the toner cartridge from the attached position to the retracted position, and an opening/closing member provided to be movable between a closed position and an open position. The opening/closing member moves from the closed position to the open position in an interconnected manner with movement of the toner cartridge from the attached position to the retracted position by the moving device.

An image forming apparatus has a rotary including first and second trays supporting the first and second cartridges respectively which are displaced between first and second positions, and a circuit including first and second tray contact members and including a detector. The first and second cartridges include conductive first and second cartridge contact members, respectively. When the first tray is located at the first position and the first cartridge is supported by the first tray, the first cartridge contact member and the first tray contact member come into contact with each other, and thus a signal in the circuit is detected. When the first tray is located at the first position and the second cartridge is supported by the first tray, the second cartridge contact member and the first tray contact member do not come into contact with each other.

An image forming apparatus includes an intermediate member, a plurality of stretching rollers that stretches the intermediate member, a secondary transfer unit performs a secondary transfer, and a cleaning device comes into contact with and separates from the intermediate transfer member and cleans toner remaining on the intermediate transfer member. In a contact nip where the cleaning device and the intermediate transfer member come into contact, the intermediate transfer member is inclined such that an upstream side is lower in a gravity direction than a downstream side. A stretched surface is an outer surface of the intermediate transfer member, and a length in the conveyance direction of the stretched surface upstream of the contact nip is longer than a length in the conveyance direction of a stretched surface of the intermediate transfer member downstream of the contact nip.

An image forming apparatus to which a cartridge is removably attachable includes a rotary including a storage unit that stores developer supplied from the cartridge and a developing member that forms a developer image by developing an electrostatic latent image on a photosensitive member using the developer stored in the storage unit; a frame that accommodates the rotary; a moving device that moves the cartridge from an attachment position to a displaced position in a displacement direction; a controller that controls the moving device; and a document transporter that is rotatable above the frame and that transports a document sheet. An upstream end of the rotary in the displacement direction is defined as a rotary upstream end. A rotation center of the document transporter is located upstream of the rotary upstream end in the displacement direction.

An image forming apparatus to which a cartridge is removably attachable includes a storage unit that stores developer supplied from the cartridge, a developing member that forms a developer image by developing an electrostatic latent image on a photosensitive member using the developer stored in the storage unit, a frame that accommodates the cartridge, a moving device that moves a cartridge in a displacement direction from an attachment position toward a displaced position; a controller that controls the moving device, and a reading unit that moves between a closed position at which the reading unit covers the frame and an open position at which the reading unit is opened to expose the frame. When the cartridge is at the displaced position and when the reading unit is at the closed position, a cartridge downstream end is located downstream of a reading-unit downstream end in the displacement direction.
