An image forming apparatus includes a transport unit, a transfer unit and a support unit. The transport unit transports a recording medium. The transfer unit transfers an image formed with particles onto an image formation surface of the recording medium transported by the transport unit by an electric field formed between the transfer unit and the image formation surface by making contact with the image formation surface. The support unit supports the recording medium, is transported to the transfer unit together with the recording medium by the transport unit, and is not directly conductive with the transfer unit.

An image forming apparatus includes a rotatable image bearing member, a charging member, a developing member, a transfer member, a transfer voltage applying portion, and a recording material charging member. The recording material charging member is provided on a side upstream of a transfer nip with respect to a conveying direction of a recording material nipped and conveyed through the transfer nip and capable of contacting an image forming surface which is a surface of the recording material, onto which a toner image is transferred, conveyed toward the transfer nip, and capable of charging the image forming surface to the same polarity as a predetermined polarity by triboelectric charge. An image forming apparatus includes: an attachment table to which an object is attached; a transfer unit that transfers an image onto the object; and a transport unit that transports the attachment table along a transport path that has a transport start position on one side relative to the transfer unit and has a transport end position on a same side as the transport start position relative to the transfer unit, the transport path extending beyond the transfer unit and the attachment table being transported so as to turn back at a position beyond the transfer unit.

An image forming apparatus includes a body, an intermediate transfer assembly, a secondary transfer assembly, and a drive motor. The intermediate transfer assembly is held by the body and includes an intermediate transferor. The secondary transfer assembly is held by the intermediate transfer assembly and includes a secondary transfer assembly and a cam. The secondary transferor assembly includes a secondary transferor rotatably held by the secondary transfer assembly. The secondary transferor presses the intermediate transferor. The cam contacts the secondary transferor assembly and adjusts a contact pressure of the secondary transferor against the intermediate transferor. An image forming apparatus (100) includes: an intermediate transfer belt (15B) provided in a body housing (3); an opening/closing unit (30); a second transfer roller (152) provided in the opening/closing unit (30) and in contact with the intermediate transfer belt (15B) when the opening/closing unit (30) is closed; a guide member (31) provided in the opening/closing unit (30) turnably and guiding a sheet to a contact area between the intermediate transfer belt (15B) and the second transfer roller (152); a conductive sheet (32) covering the guide member (31); and a conductive spring (33) provided in the opening/closing unit (30) and biasing the guide member (31) toward the intermediate transfer belt (15B) via the conductive sheet (32) to press the guide member (31) to the body housing (3), wherein when the opening/closing unit (30) is opened, the guide member (31) is in contact with the conductive spring (32) by gravity.

An image forming apparatus includes an image forming unit, a casing, a door, a connecting member, a guide member, and an operating portion. The operating portion moves, through an operation by a user when the door is at a first opened position, from a regulating position where the connecting member is regulated from moving from a first guide to a second guide, to an allowing position where the connecting member is allowed to move from the first guide to the second guide. When the operating portion is at the regulating position, the door is configured to be retained at the first opened position by engagement of the connecting member and the first guide. When the operating portion is at the allowing position, the door is configured to be retained at the second opened position by movement of the connecting member from the first guide to the second guide.

An image forming apparatus includes a transfer unit that comes into contact with an object to transfer an image to the object, a facing unit that moves together with the object in a transport direction of the object to bring the object into contact with the transfer unit, and a mechanism that brings the facing unit closer to the transfer unit in accordance with movement of the facing unit in the transport to bring the object into contact with the transfer unit and then further brings the facing unit and the transfer unit closer to each other.
