An image forming apparatus includes a conveyance portion, a fixing portion including a heating portion, a guide portion, and first and second extending portions. The guide portion guides the sheet, faces a conveyance path through which the sheet passes, and is disposed at a downstream side of the fixing portion in a sheet conveyance direction. The first extending portion extends in a direction crossing a vertical direction, is disposed upstream of the guide portion, and is disposed at the fixing portion downstream side. The second extending portion extends from the first extending portion to a downstream side of the first extending portion in the conveyance direction. In a direction crossing the conveyance direction, the guide portion is disposed at one side of the conveyance path and the second extending portion is disposed to project more than the guide portion from the one side to another side of the conveyance path.

A nip forming device includes an endless belt that is flexible and rotates and a nip former that is disposed opposite an inner circumferential face of the endless belt. A pressure rotator presses against the nip former via the endless belt to form a nip between the endless belt and the pressure rotator, through which a conveyed object is conveyed. A separator is disposed downstream from the nip in a conveyance direction of the conveyed object. The separator separates the conveyed object from the endless belt. The separator includes a non-contact portion separated from the endless belt and a contact portion that contacts the endless belt. The contact portion retains a gap having a predetermined size between the non-contact portion and the endless belt.

An image forming apparatus includes: a toner image forming section; a transfer section; a fixing section; a conveyance roller section disposed on a downstream side of the fixing section in a sheet conveyance direction; a conveyance guide section disposed on a downstream side of the conveyance roller section and including a first guide member disposed on a fixing side of a sheet and a second guide member disposed on a rear surface side of the sheet; a feeding-path-switching section disposed on a downstream side of the conveyance guide section and configured to switch sheet feeding paths; and a nip angle adjusting section configured to change a nip angle of a conveyance nip in accordance with whether a sheet on which an image is formed on a first surface thereof is conveyed, or a sheet on which an image is formed on a second surface thereof is conveyed.

An image forming apparatus includes one or plural forming devices that form respective images on a recording medium that is being transported, a fixing device provided on a downstream side with respect to at least one of the forming devices in a direction of transport of the recording medium and that fixes the images formed on the recording medium, a delivering device that receives the recording medium transported in a first direction and discharges the recording medium in a second direction that is different from the first direction, and a supplying device that supplies the recording medium to any of the forming devices or to the delivering device. The forming devices, the fixing device, the delivering device, and the supplying device have respective housings and are each joinable to any of the other devices.

A fixing device has: a nip member; a tubular belt looped around the nip member and including a metal tube, the metal tube having an outer peripheral surface; and a roller having a shaft and an elastic portion covering the shaft, the roller defining an axial direction, the elastic portion and the nip member being configured to nip a predetermined portion of the tubular belt. The outer peripheral surface of the metal tube has an end region in the axial direction, and a rough region between the end regions. The rough region has a surface roughness greater than a surface roughness of the end region. And the end region and the rough region provide a boundary region, therebetween which is positioned outward of the predetermined region in the axial direction.

An image forming apparatus includes an image forming device, a fixing device including a first rotary member of which a surface layer containing a fluororesin is brought into contact with a sheet surface having an unfixed toner image formed by the image forming device, and a controller. In a case that image formation processing for continuously forming a toner image on a plurality of predetermined sheets is executed, the controller can control conveyance of a sheet so that a portion of the surface layer of the first rotary member which is brought into contact with a trailing edge of a preceding sheet is brought into contact with a margin area on a leading edge side on a next sheet.

A fixing device includes a fixing roller heated to a predetermined temperature by a heater; a pressure belt in pressure contact with the fixing roller; and a pressing part which presses the pressure belt toward the fixing roller. The fixing device adopts a belt-nip system and fixes a toner image formed on a recording medium to the recording medium by heat and pressure while the recording medium is nipped and conveyed through a nip part. The nip part is formed by the fixing roller and the pressure belt and includes an adhesion nip and a separation nip. The pressing part includes a pressing member, a sheet member which covers the pressing surface of the pressing member along a conveying direction of the recording medium, and a pressing fluid which is filled at the adhesion nip between the pressing member and the sheet member.

An image forming apparatus includes an endless belt, a roller configured to rotate the endless belt by rotating in a state in which the roller is in contact with an outer circumferential surface of the endless belt, a heater, a pressure pad configured to nip the endless belt between the pressure pad and the roller to form a nip portion, a sliding sheet interposed between an inner circumferential surface of the endless belt and the pressure pad. The image forming apparatus is configured to execute a fixing operation in which a developer image on a sheet is fixed in a state in which the sheet is nipped between the roller and the endless belt. A nip pressure at the nip portion P [MPa] and a peripheral velocity of the endless belt V [mm/sec] satisfies V/P≥200 when the image forming apparatus executes the fixing operation.

An image forming apparatus includes a transfer unit, a fixing unit, a reverse rotary member pair, a first conveyance path, a second conveyance path, an opening and closing member, a first guide member, a second guide member, and a dividing member. The second guide member is supported by the opening and closing member and forms an inserted portion where a case of the fixing unit is inserted and one side of guide surfaces of the second conveyance path. The second guide member forms one side of guide surfaces of the first conveyance path in a state where the opening and closing member is in a closed position. The dividing member, in the state where the opening and closing member is in the closed position, divides a gap formed between the second guide member and the case inserted into the inserted portion from the second conveyance path.

Provided is an image forming apparatus including a fixing member that transports a recording medium on which an image is transferred while nipping the recording medium to fix the image to the recording medium, a discharge member that discharges the recording medium by rotating forwardly, a guide member that guides the recording medium to a reverse transport path in which a front surface and a rear surface of the recording medium are reversed by coming in contact with the recording medium transported by the discharge member that reversely rotates, and a waving member that is disposed at a downstream side of the fixing member in the transport direction of the recording medium, and waves the recording medium transported by the fixing member in a width direction of the recording medium.
